Bill Maher always fought for social FREEDOM, not social justice/revenge/authoritarianism. Big big difference. Social freedom is nothing wrong. All forms of racism is bad and gays and trannies should be able to do whatever they want as long as they leave kids alone, you should be able to have sex with whoever you want as long as they're an adult, you should be able to take any drugs you want, literally whatever you want as long as you're not hurting anybody else. If you're against any of this you are just as authoritarian as the woke narcissists you claim to be against.

I interviewed 25 applicants for an administrative position. After I notified the successful applicant and called the others who were not, I received three calls from parents demanding why I didn't hire their adult child.

I'll up that with the following. I work as a police officer for one of the major cities in North America. I worked in a plain clothes intelligence position for 6 years. At the end of my tenure, I was given a position as a police recruiter in my department after my undercover stint. During the process of hiring new police officers, I had to gong 100 for every one I would hire. And many, many moms called me for an explanation after I gonged their kid from being a new police recruit. Towards the end of my time in recruiting, I suggested that them feeling the need to call me might be a clue as to why their kid was passed over.

Then he said I’ll ask for it back once you’ve won (in a mismatched war it’s not clear he’ll even win or not), cause Sean Penn is totally not out of touch with the real world.
Ukraine will never win the war and that was never the point for the leaders in the West. This is a proxy war being waged by the US and other NATO countries against Putin. I was called by my supervisor 2019 and told that I didn't pass enough students, and this was a big problem. They were keeping track of students passed for every single college instructor every single semester. I explained that I taught the courses assigned to me by the transfer agreements and standards that were written for them, and my student excelled in the classes that followed mine, but that didn't really matter. I was told to dumb it down if I wanted to keep working. I said that I never heard of numbers of passes being part of the way that college instructors were evaluated (after all, if a student moves or drops out, that is not really up to me). I called my union rep and she told exactly this, "If you want to keep teaching, give your students 'As' and candy." I resigned at the end of that term after writing a letter to the president of the college. Let us be clear and honest, these people are scum. They aren't saving anyone but rather pretending success so that they themselves look good while completely screwing over the students who it is their job to serve.
There is no such things as bad students, only bad teachers. Some will slip through the cracks but when many fail it suggests you aren't doing your job, which is to teach.

There are bad teachers who pass students who do not achieve anything so they don't have strange phone calls from their supervisors. I used to give out a piece of paper with a large "A" on it on the first day and then say what is this really worth if you didn't get the skills. Starscream you are just a parrot and not a teacher. You were probably one of the people I am talking about.

I have routinely gotten students in college freshman comp who could not write two grammatical sentences together but passed the previous class with a "B" or "A". No one bitches about a false pass. And all the students who passed my classes who I was able to meet afterward got a "B" or an "A" in the next class. Several had "As" in every class after mine. The colleges now keep track of how many students pass each teachers class and don't offer classes to teachers with lower pass rates. CA pays the college 40% on how many complete the classes. So, teachers who pass students who do nothing can keep on teaching and teachers with standards are screwed. Oh, and the students are all screwed because they aren't learning the skills and understand they will need later on.

I have niece that recently revealed to me she hated capitalism and she has been learning about communism on tik tok.
She also revealed that she hates the police and thinks they should be disbanded and we should pay around 200 grand to every black American for repairations.
Now this girl came to our house to borrow some things and I was going to carry it out for her.
One of the items was a Walker for her mother who just recently injured herself.
Her trunk was so full of garbage it would not fit.
I suggested the back seat and we had the same problem.
She said don't judge me and I laughed.
She has recently moved in with her Dad because at 32 she can not stay employed or pay her own rent.
It was teachable moment because I explained to her 18 year cousin that people who can not take care of themselves always know what is best for the rest of us.
He laughed. I told him that no doubt she is waiting for a capitalist to foot the bill or work to clean her car.

Tanks are more than a jobs program, building armored vehicles like tanks requires specialized skills so that if we only built them when we absolutely needed them we might not remember or have anyone with those skills to replace destroyed or damaged tanks.

Finally, a non-woke actor. Thank you, Bill Maher! Btw. on the socialism front, have you heard of Yugoslavia, a country that existed in Europe from 1945 to 1991. I grew up in that country, and whatever some western "experts" say, it was a country of opportunities and creative freedoms. During the cold war, we were not on either side, minding our own business, but that was one of the reasons why hard core capitalist leaders wanted us off the map, being afraid that others would follow our example. The only downside was that criticism of the system was not quite welcomed. But hey, we could have got rid of that factor and keep the rest. For example, the life expectancy (a factor indicative of a quality of life) was among the highest in the world. Crime rate was among the lowest in the world. The Soviets and China were socialist just in theory, not in practice. The Soviets impoverished their people, while we had a very low poverty rate. But nobody researches Yugoslavia's socialism, which is somewhat comparable to some North European countries nowadays. Having said that, I think the best system would be a hybrid combination of capitalism and socialism, like e.g. in Netherlands.

Large universities are training grounds for the corporate mindset. Any liberalism that goes on follows a narrow path and never effects the mainstream of college philosophy. The highly rewarded corporate systems managers, who don’t ask questions but comply with the governing elites are the ones who get the high paying jobs.

I got sober 19 years ago. When this opioid war started. I had developed severe spine pain. I was thrown out of a car 35 years ago that turned to severe pain later in life. The healthcare system is getting by with abusing patients over the lie medical system caused opioid addiction. Mixing care for patients treating as anyone with a history of addiction life long addicts even if health issues are the problem this is discrimination and a hate crime leaving people suffering. It's down right horrible the way addiction has been criminalized and addicts are the new group under attack. Biden Blames drugs for addiction instead of disease of addiction. He's not helping one bit. He hates addicts himself. And drug dealers. This attack blaming drugs for addiction making addicts the victim is killing addicts and people sick needing medicine. It's horrific.

Good to hear Sean saying this. On socialism, it becomes about definitions. Even Milton Friedman supported the people's right to have social welfare programs, but he did not consider that socialism. I think there is a quantitative and qualitative difference, but I could not tell you where exactly the cut off is.
