The one talent that I admire most about Allen's writing is coincidentally the same as I admire in Neil Simon. That being their ability to write dialogue. Their dialogue is absolutely genius in that they are witty while being completely believable that someone would be saying it.

Woody Allen is such a legend. He's always said that he's wanted to make a great film, one that would be a masterpiece, when in reality he's done that several times.
The truly perfect ones are Annie Hall, Manhattan, Stardust Memories, Hannah & Her Sisters, and Crimes & Misdemeanors. Then, just a little way below those, there are Zelig, Sleeper, Broadway Danny Rose, Love & Death, Deconstructing Harry and Sweet & Lowdown. All genuinely great films that everyone should see.
The most revealing answer is when he says he’d take the two years of life. He loves life, despite his belief in its utter meaningless and all of its difficulties. That’s what makes him who he is, that’s his heart.
