Amorphis is melodic death with folkish influences metal band since early 90'ies from Finland 🇫🇮. Sometimes even like you said symphonic stuff added.
Many times songs get inspiration from finnish folklore like Kalevala and Kanteletar stories.
Bee is lifebringer in finnish folklore. They sang that: "on the banks of Tuonela"... so Tuonela is river of death like Hades in Greek mythology.
I hope you could react also their songs like Silver Bride or Message in the Amber or Daughter of Hate. Please and peace 🙏🏼😎✌🏼

Live version isn't as good as this, but those Growls and clean vocals are from one singer. He has amazing clean vocals also. But growls are like no one other's.
You've got to check out the Swedish kings of Melodeath aswell, Dark Tranquillity! :) They've been developing their sound further over the years and incorporated clean singing more while still not letting go of the roots of their sound. I'd suggest going for the song Uniformity for their more "modern" sound and Monochromatic Stains for more classical DT :)

If you really like the melodic death metal style check out "Omnium gatherum - in the rim" they are another local finnish band in the same style as amorphis but with their own take on it.

If you have not heard them, I would suggest Eluveitie. I like everything they have put out but try "Ambiramus".
You already got some suggestions on other Finnish bands, but here's one more representing thrash metal: LOST SOCIETY with their track "No Absolution".
Actually, go back seven more years for a more classic thrash sound. The song "Kill Those Who Oppose Me".
