This is from basically a concept album ("Crime of the century") - this is the second track and leads on from the track "School". The whole album is worth hearing. You can't really go wrong with Supertram's four central albums ("Crime...", "Crisis, what crisis?", "Even in the quietest moments", and "Breakfast in America"). Merry Christmas!
I was stationed in San Diego but I lived off base. One of my friends came up to me and gave me a ticket to a concert, the only stipulation was that I took him. It was for Supertramp, who I had never heard of. Been a fan ever since.
Biz...you promised you would do the studio version of ¨School¨off Supertramps Crime Of the Century album over a year ago- We are still waiting! Please!
I’m old school. I had the privilege of seeing them live in concert touring this album. One of the few bands that sounded just as great live as the studio version. Facts… ✌️😎 Thank you for the reaction…..
You should just do the whole "Crime Of The Century" album. It is most excellent, I like it better than "Breakfast In America", it has guts and catchy tunes all throughout. Just do it.
Wise words at the end as always. What a great way to describe it. All I know is I like this song so much when I was a kid, and it's before breakfast in America and if you look closely at that thumbnail for the video that you were showing. It's actually a combination of artwork from both albums. Reaching through the grate there is from Crime of the Century, their earlier album that had this song on it and School and others. And then reaching through the grates on this Greatest Hits album, is a reference to Breakfast in America, where the waitress is holding up that glass of orange juice. It's cool to see getting into the stuff. Really enjoy it.
And that is how you do an intro... Live versions extend the intro, and extend the outro too, alternating singing " bloody well right " with sax riffs/solos 1:38
OH YEAHHHH, EARLYYYY SUPERTRAMP IS SO SO MUCH BETTER💯 THAN THE COMMERCIAL ( BREAKFAST IN AMERICA ) SUPERTRAMP 😮IT WAS ALRIGHT BUT NOTHING LIKE : INDELIBLY STAMPED, CRISIS WHAT CRISIS AND THIS CRIME OF THE CENTURY! 😊THEIR EARLY PROGGY STUFF WAS SO GOOD BIZ! YOU ALREADY DID MY SONG ( RUDY ) SAME ALBUM👍
thank you for sharing your thoughts at the end. even though this was my music, back in the day, you help me to understand, more, fully, aspects of music i never knew, i never knew. what a discovery!
This song was my first introduction to supertramp and although they went on to great commercial success i still think this was the best they offered......just my opinion
🎄☃️🎄 Merry Christmas, Biz 🎄☃️🎄 🍺🍻🍺 Greetings from Wisconsin 🥃🍻🥃 Lovin' some Supertramp this evening. I bought a new copy of Crime of the Century last week and have been blasting it in the car ❤️ 🎸🎼🎶🎶🎶 ❤️ 🎧🎧🎧🎧
HEY MAN, WHAT'S HAPPENIN BIZ!!! 😊SO ONCE AGAIN, MERRY MERRY TO YOU AND YOURS!😊SO I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVED JONI'S ( JONI MITCHELL ) VOICE SO I WANTED TO SAY THAT YOU SHOULD DO HER GREAT TRACK ( RIVER ) IT'S A CHRISTMAS SONG FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE LONELY AT CHRISTMAS TIME, GREAT TRACK ALONG WITH ( A CASE OF YOU ) 👍 AND THERES SO MANY MORE OF COURSE BUT RIVER FOR SURE BECAUSE OF THE TIME, ANYWAY MAN, YOU TAKE GREAT CARE, ENJOY THE TIMES AND ALLLLLL THE BEST BIZ! 😊
The intro to this is a real highlight. And their sense of things being a little off and people's values and priorities need a little correcting can be quite relating. We could all be better people.
You forget the song dropped in the seventies, nearly fifty years ago, with commentary on the situation in the UK not the US. Believe it or not but upward mobility was once a thing in the United States. Then neo-liberal economics took over and crushed it. So that the cynicism you express today, in the context of cynicism expressed towards the British system, yeah, lords and ladies and barons and dukes and oligarchs and plutocrats. The ancient regime will have another helping of revenge soon enough. Austerity kills hopes too...
Great song. Love the guitar riff and the solo is 🔥🔥🔥 This is the only Supertramp I like. Breakfast In America? Even In The Quietest Moments? Rubbish! All of it. But this is good stuff.

Rubbish?? Dude, your ears are broken. Not sure how anyone can like this song and not love everything else this band put out in the 70's?
