Bloody Well Right begins split-second after "School". Almost like a transition in 1 song. These songs are all connected. it is a concept album. - Singer is Rick Davies. Two main voices in Supertramp: In " School " it was mainly Roger Hodgson (the high emotional voice) Btw, if you follow the lyrics throughout the album, both singers/composers do some in-fighting here. This is obviously Davies' answer to Hodgson's School. The band is bound to split a few years later. But it proves again that two opposite creatives (egos) in a band is a perfect formula for quality (Lennon & McCartney, Gilmour & Waters, Davies & Hodgson, …)
People used get a presupposed idea of what kind of music "Supertramp" played just based on the name. Guess what? They were wrong! This Band is so gifted as far as musicianship, and also lyrically, they are so good. Rodger Hodgson is wonderful as well. I was 18 back in the early 1970s when these guys came to Seattle, and what a concert it was. Such memories guys, as I'm turning 65 in about a month. This Classic Rock era music keeps us young. God Bless
Before the Pandemic I would hang out on my day off at a pool hall with a juke box and play some funky music - one day this 20something girl asked me what I was playing (I'm 60something), so I said, "Wild Cherry", "Average White Band", "Steely Dan", "Supertramp" and she started cracking up 'cuz she thought I was just making it up! When I heard 'steely-tramp' I sorta laughed the same way.
They are Anglo American band based in England. 2 singer songwriters are English Keys and Guitar. Drummer is from USA They definitely have US influence Great underrated band that had 3 or 4 great albums in the late 70's and early 80's. People have said they're an English Steely Dan. I say a little bit.
I'm sitting here, 6.044,66 km or nearly 3,800 miles far from you and I am delighted to see you! This world could be better than some guys attempt to... AND at all: WE HAVE THE MUSIC!!!
This song is actually about someone who agrees that the school system is bad but he doesn't care. He tells the person that he's got the right to criticize the system but that it won't change anything.
The drummer was American and the singer was swiss, swedish, Norwegian, something like that and the rest were British, I'm pretty sure at this time they probably all resided in the U.K.
I'm going to say it won't be that since they're doing the whole Crime of the Century album (in order) but they might get to that one at some future time.
British Band apart from the Drummer Bob Seibenburg from Los Angeles, Rick Davies Keyboards Vocals, Roger Hodgeson Keyboards Vocals (falsetto) Guitar, Dougie Thomson from Scotland on Bass John Helliwell Woodwinds (saxophone and Clarinet) and backing vocals Fantastic band and Crime of the Century is without doubt their best album, but Breakfast in America is also a great album!
I read that Tame Impala(forgot his name) is a Supertramp fan. There's a song on this album called "Dreamer" and if you listen to Tame Impala's song "It Might Be Time" you can REALLY tell that "Dreamer" was an inspiration for it. Maybe you could react to that one next time you do Supertramp!
Wonderful band, wonderful review- salient. You're right, that it's most likely British- even more likely English- who would say this. But a high per centage of Canadians (like me), Aussies, New Zealanders and South Africans would too. Even Irish and Dutch know the idiom. Hi you- be safe.
Hey you two!! I'm enjoying your reaction to one of the greatest LP's of all time! I can hardly wait to see your reaction to Asylum!! I love how the two of you are able to use your extensive musical background to delve into the depths of what they are doing with the music. Cheers to you and I look forward to enjoying many more reactions with the both of you!! Best wishes for great success on your channel!!
The second great song off of this great album...... What an intro. Rick Davies is my favorite piano player. John Helliwell favorite Sax. Every one is awesome.
At 06:42 the lady nails it. That's the gist of the composition. It's like when someone says, "THE WORLD SUCKS!!!" In a very "Dude-like" way, the only proper response is, "Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."
Supertramp At their most prog. Rock moment! Solid entertaining album though my favorite album is their Breakfast In America album. Many great songs and big hits on it!
I can’t wait to see your reactions to the rest of the album. This particular song is probably my least favorite even though it was the only hit from the album. Maybe because it was so overplayed, I don’t know. It’s not that I don’t like it, but the rest of the album is just so tasty. The production value is top notch, and there’s so much substance to each song - I know you’ve already heard the whole thing, but I’m anxious to see how you react to it all.
@@SightAfterDark - OK, I had imagined that you've already heard it all, that you sat down and did each reaction already, you are just releasing them spread out over time?
If THIS would have been my first comment, I would say: "OH, very british sound!" If good or not (good!), doesn't matter! But THEN there was this spaceful instrument: SAXOPHONE!!! I stopped talking not to injure Sifa when I don't would like this... *afraid! o:)
Damn LOL I know this videos a year old but this video mysteriously just popped up on my recommendation and I had to play it because I just got through playing this album not too long ago maybe about 15 to 20 minutes ago and I played this particular song a couple of times I love the whole entire album but this particular song is my favorite oh yeah I want to see what you guys reaction is to this they are British they're from London LOL they first formed in 1969
Love Rick Davies' vocals and songs, the Rhodes(always!), guitar, horns, hoo boy! For some reason my mind thinks of this one as analogous to the Strawbs' 'Part of the Union': atypical, maybe sneaky, but that's not really accurate.

The Afro American white guy of color is trying way too hard. That was the second time he interrupted the intro! He needs to totally forget that that pretty black woman is sitting next to him. Just listen to the music.
Supertramp is a very underrated band. Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home etc.
Looking forward to hearing more!
Nice. Great band that sounds like no one else.
For sure. Thanks for watching Mark!
My favorite song on the album and one of the all time great rock intros
Fantastic intro!

No, the band has publicly stated that it is NOT a concept album, the fact that it sounds like one makes the album cooler, IMHO
@@michaelbaucom4019 What do they know? 😂lol. Davies has stated once that Rudy is the main character of the album. (?)

Supertramp has the greatest intros of any band I've ever known in all their songs
Hell yeah Dan! This intro is top notch!
This song is actually about someone who agrees that the school system is bad but he doesn't care. He tells the person that he's got the right to criticize the system but that it won't change anything.
Makes sense
The drummer was American and the singer was swiss, swedish, Norwegian, something like that and the rest were British, I'm pretty sure at this time they probably all resided in the U.K.
Their drummer is the only American - Bob C Benberg - and was such an anchor in the band
Talking of the schooling system, then your next progression with Supertramp has to be "The Logical Song"
I'm going to say it won't be that since they're doing the whole Crime of the Century album (in order) but they might get to that one at some future time.
Thanks John, we're doing this whole album now, but we'll probably get to that at some point. Thanks for watching!
