    • @markc5999
      @markc5999 2 года назад +11

      @cookiemonster think we will have to agree to disagree. No idea why your first thought would be that they are intoxicated but even if they were the danger here is the car getting stuck on the tracks and potentially the barriers coming down causing an obstruction for train which potentially has 100s of passengers onboard. It does matter in this situation if the driver is drunk, on drugs, confused, elderly, young, just a poor driver, made a mistake or anything else, the priority is to get the car off the tracks and by Roman passing the car is stopped them from reversing and there is a chance cars behind will follow Roman because they didn't see what happened first hand and by the time they notice a car in a very strange situation it is too late for them to stop safely.

      In the US, each area has its own unique terrible style of driving. Where I live, 10 cm of space between your bumper and the car ahead of you at a traffic light seems acceptable by many. In the south, the rules are you drive either 40 miles over the speed limit or drive half the amount. There is no in between. 🙄 On the west coast (California and the like), it is legal for motorcyclists to drive in between two cars that are next to each other. I've driven there many times, and the overpopulation corresponds to terrible traffic, which leads to terrible decisions. US citizens are not known for having any patience at all. As I'am an Advanced qualified driver I'm about to take you down a peg.
    You need to have a re-test and training. That was shocking.
    You could clearly see the overtake was not on. You are approaching a sweeping bend with 3 cars and a small gap infront of car 3. Fine taking car 3 Youd get away with. You failed to look far ahead before the bend, otherwise youd have seen the immediate hazard approaching
    The White BMW didnt react as quick as the smaller car and so the wide junction on the left was not an opportunity for them to use. Frustrating as it may be you cant then force then onto the verge.
    Oncoming traffic do not have to yield to you, one because it causes more accidents than it solves and two because you end up putting yourself in positions of no return as you nearly did here.
    The road was straightening out, there was ample opportunity to complete the overtake 5 seconds later and, would have been far more progressive as a result.

    • @TheEulerID
      @TheEulerID 2 года назад +1

      I'd entirely agree. It's up to the emergency medic driver to overtake only when it's safe to do so, and the oncoming car was braking quite hard, just not enough to come to a stop before it reached the Mercedes, and I can understand why somebody doesn't come to an emergency stop on a bend with a queue of cars behind. So the result is that he had to wait behind the Mercedes for a couple of seconds. Maybe the oncoming car might have seen what was happening earlier, but he/she can't see the brake lights on the Mercedes so see where it was stopping.
      A minor thing in the big picture and if everybody could read the thoughts of others then you might get the perfect passage. As it is, not worth the video time.

    UK Medic, you need to go back to your driver training dept.
    A very poor example and attitude of EM driving technique.
    You have not allowed any of the drivers time to react to your presence on the road.
    After the first overtake you have caused that driver to brake rapidly as you have returned to the nearside as there was hardly any space for you to fit into and the vehicles in front were beginning to brake because of your approach to them.
    You then continue to force your way through against the oncoming traffic, which doesn't HAVE to yield to you.
    Not only that, the first car is displaying an 'L' plate in the middle of the bonnet/hood, so thank yourself lucky they even reacted and moved over.

      @@Echoj2 It does apply to roundabouts. Roundabouts are a road junction and the van was turning left off of the junction. You should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross when turning left or right from a junction (according to the highway code changes). Remember this is a "should", so in some cases where it could be dangerous to stop suddenly you may proceed with care. Exactly the same as giving way to buses about to pull out of a bus stop; you should give way to them, except if doing so would be dangerous (for example someone tailgating you)
      I'd like to also add that this clip was made before the highway code changes. Even so, the van driver was being courteous by allowing the pedestrians to cross, and the cam car should have been following at a distance to stop safely if the van had to stop. Imagine if a child ran out infront of the van, for example. If the cam car hits the van then it is the cam car who would pick up the bill.
