That last clip is absolutely terrifying, no matter how good a driver you are, this could happen to any of us and there's nothing you can do about it.

Absolutely agree. So many clips, I am thinking that there is zero chance for you to avoid your life being dragged into an idiot's mayhem. I firmly believe anybody that causes this kind of reckless accident should be 100% charged with attempted murder/manslaughter and do serious jail time, even if everybody lives or even get out ok. It's the principle of it, it really is that serious. The roads are not a joke you are playing with other people's lives.

I don't think the guy would have stopped if the lady hadn't given him the finger as he drove by. As a 'lone lady', that is inadvisable at best.

I reckon that she wasn't indicating but she is right, she has to reverse in because its illegal to reverse out onto a main road.
Dash cammers, here’s a tip, when you see a situation developing in front of you try easing off the gas rather than ploughing in and being surprised that you either 1. crash into said situation or 2. have to use your horn (most of the time unnecessarily). This is assuming that the cammer is actually seeing what is going on more than half a metre beyond the bonnet.
If people take this sound advice, this channel wouldn't last!

5:20 Ballymena Hey has to be a proper TOTW contender. Bus pulls out as the car in front of you is turning into their road and even though you're miles away, rather than just slowing down and letting the bus finish it's turn, you decide to maintain speed, aim for the bus, honk your horn and end up stopping in the middle of the road blocking the bus.

@@cargy930 rule 201 is an ADVISORY law, not legally enforceable. Note the law says "if you can". She couldn't reverse in without blocking traffic, and still chose to do so.
Fuethermore, one of the other cars from that house knows this, so why doesn't she? Not on speaking terms so its ok? There's plenty of space to turn the car around in the driveway rather than obstructing traffic.
@@thedunyadoneya2628 how do you know that first car didn't also reverse in but had the space to change around perhaps to wash the car or work on it? You've drawn a lot of assumptions from an inconclusive clip in regards to the other cars parked in the drive.

Indicate left (start indicating before slowing down), then stop, then reverse into your driveway. If she did indicate properly, then there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong about her driving.

There's nothing obstructing about what they did in the video. It's how it's done. You can't reverse out onto the road safely at all because with all that bushes, you won't be able to see ANYTHING backing out.
So with your reply, I guess you are going to pick "reversing out of drive way blind onto a 40mph country road" over "stopping briefly on the road to control traffic then backing into the drive way safely". OK.

Exactly what I thought. The offence is crossing the white lines for any reason (other than overtaking something going less than 15mph). Uploading such clearly self-incriminating footage is rather silly.

Very short slip roads at that rest area. I hate it every time I drive past, there's always someone trying to get in front of me.
They do it to us bus drivers too except our passengers go flying when you have to brake harsh to avoid squashing them!
That was a cash for crash effort in my opinion. Both cars working as a team. No reason for the middle one to not stay in the right hand lane otherwise.
It's a perfect point about getting cut up, but if trucks need so much space than why to so many of them run right up the arse of other traffic. It's totally hypocritical to have truck drivers getting angry about car drivers pulling into a safety gap, and the same HGVs running along inches behind cars unnecessarily.

As far as I am aware there isn’t a specific law which says you must not reverse onto a major road, however “Although failure to comply with the other rules of the Code will not, in itself, cause a person to be prosecuted, The Highway Code may be used in evidence in any court proceedings under the Traffic Acts (see The road user and the law) to establish liability. This includes rules which use advisory wording such as ‘should/should not’ or ‘do/do not’.”
@@sharpkatana1178 The only reason it says "reverse in" is so you can drive out. It's of no one's concern if you drive in or reverse in, it makes absolutely no difference to anything. If you can turn round in your drive like it looks like she could anyway.

not a miracle at all. just the EU laws which dictate cars must be designed for occupants to survive big collisions. if they were in an indian market vehicle for example, it would have folded up like a crisp packet.

Yes the impatient car that pulled out was in the wrong, but i think most of us normal folk would've just hung back, flash of the lights to tell them to pull out, and we all go about our day.
yes, like most people I hate drivers that pull out half way (mostly vans) and force cars into giving way but just driving right up to them when they are obviously looking the other way is beyond stupid.

lee x I would love to see it enforced even on 3-lane roads. Mercedes drivers seem worst for lane 3...I guess they think they're too "prestigious" to deign to make way for others, even when driving an old shed that they can't afford to have repaired. BMWs are up there as well, of course. The MLMs often seem to be people-carriers or Priuses.

That was 2 stubborn drivers. Or the dashcammer was inexperienced. When someone aggressively and dangerously overtakes like that you want to give them a wide berth. He drove straight into the trap.

Indeed. I'm also wary of those "Baby on Board" things: it shows the wrong attitude. Like P-plates, it's essentially asking (demanding?) that others treat you specially and make allowances for your mistakes. One should be driving safely regardless of the ages of the occupants of other vehicles!
@@bendarling5573 'Baby on board' was originally intended as a warning so that in the event of an accident the emergency services would know that they should be looking for a small sprog who might otherwise be missed.
Alan Thank you; I didn't know that. However, there is no need for them to be so large and obtrusive; they just need a small, standardised sign in a place that emergency services know to look at. It doesn't need to be blaringly advertised to other drivers, as if to say "I'm special". It's part of a self-entitled mindset which seems to afflict a minority of parents (which is not to say that reasonable allowances shouldn't be made for those with young children, but there's a limit!)

It’s nearly a year on and they are still trying to say it’s 100% my fault and my insurance company is arguing for 50/50. Have dash cam footage from another car that shows he slammed on for no reason, car insurance is a absolute joke.

@@Iamtheliquor It's the certainty of damaging my car and the potential of then not being able to drive to work and the hassle of sorting insurance and repairs, or the very slim possibility that even if seen, the police would want to take action against you for avoiding an accident, I know which I choose. And as I said, some people have rare or interesting or expensive cars that they don't want crashed into for a petty dashcam clip

I think some of these clips could really do with some of the context/after crash description that the dash drivers likely submit that you see other dashcam compilation videos show, things like did everyone recover after that last clip involving the lorry crash?
Hi there, That's my clip! On the right hand side, you can just make out a downed power line, traffic was slowing down to stare at it. The red Vauxhall Astra slows down carefully, the red BMW 3 series brakes hard, the silver Vauxhall Combi Van and the greyish-brown Ford Focus all brake quite harshly as a result. The white Mitsubishi Fuso was following the Ford Focus too closely and could not stop in time, resulting in him hitting the Ford Focus into the Vauxhall Combi (which knocked the Combi into me) and the Fuso (trying to minimise the accident) steered into my lane as he could not see me (I assume the lorry in front of me blocked his view until it was too late) and ended up hitting me head on.
Worst injury was a broken leg sustained by the driver of the Ford Focus, I believe the driver of the Fuso has been charged with careless driving.
Co-ordinates are on the video, but it was the A47 between Guyhirn and Thorney Toll.
All vehicles except the Mitsubishi Fuso have been written off, and the road was closed for a few hours while the vehicles were recovered and the road was cleared.
You are right though. Just a sentence or so to provide context would absolve some drivers/cammers from scrutiny
