    Thank you! Excellent and simple to so. For the turning gap, to be sure it doesn’t curl up and get missed when topstitching, I put a small strip of double sided fabric tape. Perfect every time

    The other bonus is that the blanket is bigger to snuggle under because you dont lose width and length from cutting the slits all the way around, and it folds flatter making it nicer to store or drape on the back of your sofa.

    So, I should have read the comments before I made this. First, the cute Christmas fabric is picked over at the Joanns near me, but I did find two cute pieces in the end that I liked. Second I REALLY should have squared up the two pieces before I started because they were cut wonky. What a mess that was. I serged the blanket to clean up the edges and cut off the selvages and that worked well. I didn’t line up my opening very well when I topped stitched and had to redo it.
    I made the blanket for my husband but my chihuahua claimed it right away!

      I would do at least a half inch or even an inch. I made large adult size blankets and did an 1 1/2 inch or 2 inch second stitching around the edges. This gave a nice border to the blanket.

    I don’t care for the tied blankets either but I’ve been making them like you did for years. My grandkids still have the ones I made a decade ago. I poke my corners with some metal chopsticks! Joanne’s fabric had the fleece blanket kits on sale this time of year for 50-60% off and the fabrics coordinate, so it’s fun and easy. I love love the warm and cozy fleece!

    I’m always discouraged by the process of squaring up the cut ends of the fabric and making sure the front and back are the same size. Any tips for making that easier?

    • @elizabethdawn256
      @elizabethdawn256 8 дней назад +8

      Lay both fabrics out together, then trim them. I don't worry about being "square "so much as make sure the ends look reasonably straight and not lean to one side. It's also nice to round the corners (dinner plate is great) and not worry about the hard corners.
