Thank you! Excellent and simple to so. For the turning gap, to be sure it doesn’t curl up and get missed when topstitching, I put a small strip of double sided fabric tape. Perfect every time
I was scrolling and came across your channel. The cuteness and warmth of the beautiful blanket stopped me on my tracks. I squealed with excitement and immediately subscribed. 😊
The other bonus is that the blanket is bigger to snuggle under because you dont lose width and length from cutting the slits all the way around, and it folds flatter making it nicer to store or drape on the back of your sofa.
So, I should have read the comments before I made this. First, the cute Christmas fabric is picked over at the Joanns near me, but I did find two cute pieces in the end that I liked. Second I REALLY should have squared up the two pieces before I started because they were cut wonky. What a mess that was. I serged the blanket to clean up the edges and cut off the selvages and that worked well. I didn’t line up my opening very well when I topped stitched and had to redo it. I made the blanket for my husband but my chihuahua claimed it right away!
That came out so pretty!!! And easy to put together. I've never made one as I hated the thought of all the strips to tie. I am running to Joann's!!! TFS!!
Love this blanket! I would sew a half inch from inside the top stitching around it again to make a more substantial border. I just know this is easy, super soft and cozy wozy. Thank you.😍
I would do at least a half inch or even an inch. I made large adult size blankets and did an 1 1/2 inch or 2 inch second stitching around the edges. This gave a nice border to the blanket.
Thanks for sharing this process. I’ve only finished a couple of fleece blankets and it was certainly a pain! Your video was so easy to follow, I’m anxious to try it.
I don’t care for the tied blankets either but I’ve been making them like you did for years. My grandkids still have the ones I made a decade ago. I poke my corners with some metal chopsticks! Joanne’s fabric had the fleece blanket kits on sale this time of year for 50-60% off and the fabrics coordinate, so it’s fun and easy. I love love the warm and cozy fleece!
Thank you thank you. I happen to stumble upon this tonight and it’s exactly what I’m looking for on a smaller scale to make doll blankets for my two year old great granddaughter, who is getting dolls for Christmas. This idea is absolutely perfect!!!
My grandmother taught me how to sew making this same type of blanket..she trimmed around before turning ..made the blanket less cumbersome around the edges..she also used a zig zag stitch for the final stitching...so so much better..
That fabric is beautiful. I can only hope I can find something close to that “cuteness” thank you for sharing ❤ I’m new to your channel, now the binging begins 😊😊
I’m always discouraged by the process of squaring up the cut ends of the fabric and making sure the front and back are the same size. Any tips for making that easier?
Lay both fabrics out together, then trim them. I don't worry about being "square "so much as make sure the ends look reasonably straight and not lean to one side. It's also nice to round the corners (dinner plate is great) and not worry about the hard corners.
THANKS FOR SHARING.💯👌 I LOVED , LOVED HOW YOU JUST EXPLAINED THIS VIDEO TO US.THANK YOU 😊. Truly enjoyed it and Am looking forward to seeing All of your videos. Now I better run to JoAnn's. Awesome job 👏
I round corners on anything I can. It's not unusual for me to be searching the kitchen cabinets in search of something with just the right size curve. I also use baking sheets to organize cut fabric pieces waiting to be seen into quilt blocks 😂 @elizabethdawn256
I do so enjoy your videos ❤Thank you for what you do for our community. Would you mind me asking about the lamp with wood base ? Where we might find it?
Did you clip the whole fleece blanket before you sold it? Loved your video. I made many tie blankets and it is hard on your back and your fingers if you have arthritis. .
Thank you; I just bought a really nice mushroom-themed blanket kit but avoided doing it because I hate the tacky ties. Question: What kind of needle should one usewhen sewing fleece?
She used 2.5 yards of each fabric. Her blanket looked very large. Google the standard dimensions of king, queen, full, throw, etc. or make yours whatever size you want.
After using 2.5 yards of each, what is the finished size of the blanket? And prob dumb question, LOL, what color thread did you use for this project? I want to be prepared when I get to Joann's 💓 Thank you, Missy!!!!
@@dcwatashi I use a 4 on all polar fleece. I've made about 50 blankets of different sizes using stitch size 4 and lowering the tension a couple of steps. Never had a problem with any finished blanket.
That is cute and easy. Thx for the video. How many yards did you use? I see that you back tacked using your walking foot. I didn’t think that you were supposed to go in reverse with ? Does it matter?
Don’t order your fleece from Joann’s online. I ordered the cutest cable knit fleece and they sent what should have been one cut in two pieces. I called thinking it must be a foolish mistake since there were 20 +yards still available online. It wasn’t a mistake. and customer service wasn’t apologetic. They said they don’t quarantine full cuts.

What a fabulous quilting machine! Your sewing room is gorgeous.
Thanks, it is my favorite!

What a beautiful sewing space.

I LOVE that fabric and print!
Thank you. Good idea. I love how detailed your videos are. You are so cheerful. It makes it so much fun to watch you.
That’s the cutest fleece I have seen. I need to visit Joanne’s.

Darn Missy! Now I’m on my way to Joann and I don’t want to go out because it’s freezing outside😂but I NEED that fabric❤
You are so welcome! I hope you find some great fabric and stay warm! 😊

Thank you for sharing this easier way of making the fleece blanket. I love the material.
You're welcome
You did a quick turn, very nice
I have been doing this for years. I do use pins to make sure the sides line up correctly.
looks so nice and snuggly. love the prints
So adorable! Thank you!
I love the prints on your fleece. I've been making this type of blanket for years now, so much nicer than the tie ones.
They are so soft and warm!

Very nice and easy blanket. I love the santa print on it
Love those prints!!
I do too! 😊
This is so cute. I love the Christmas fabric. I need to visit Joann's for some.
I hope you find some great fabric!
Lovely fabrics! Didn't hear if you mentioned using a stretch stitch to sew fleece. Your seams can pop if you don't.
I didn’t use a stretch stitch. I’ve never had a problem with the seams!
So adorable and easy!
Love this!! Great fabric!!
Adorable!!!
Thank you
Very nice video
Such a great idea!

I always round my corners, much easier !!
A descriptive design would be good also😊
Beautiful
You've explained everything so good, except how much yardage of each you used, and the width of the fleece.
I do so enjoy your videos ❤Thank you for what you do for our community. Would you mind me asking about the lamp with wood base ? Where we might find it?
Showing how to cut both pieces to size would be VERY HELPFUL😏
It’s pretty simple! You just cut them to the size you want with a ruler and rotary cutter!
I love this! Been wanting to make a fleece blanket but it seemed so daunting. What size did you use in this video?
Did you clip the whole fleece blanket before you sold it?
Loved your video. I made many tie blankets and it is hard on your back and your fingers if you have arthritis. .
Can you tell me where you bought that fleece. I love that pattern
New here. Sweet project ❤
Thank you
Love this so cute and confy what kind of sewing machine do u reccomend for a beginner tks❤
Thank you; I just bought a really nice mushroom-themed blanket kit but avoided doing it because I hate the tacky ties. Question: What kind of needle should one usewhen sewing fleece?
What size is your blanket?
She used 2.5 yards of each fabric. Her blanket looked very large. Google the standard dimensions of king, queen, full, throw, etc. or make yours whatever size you want.
2.5 yards perfect throw size for any adult . I do 1.5 yards for babies/Toddlers
You can just about do any size we have
Most fleece at Joanns is 58 inches.
@@Steve-p9rthe fleece usually is only 58 inches wide.
Did you use a universal needle? I am definitely going to Joanns for some cuteness
What kind of sewing needle did you use - one for stretch fabrics?
No, just a regular needle
Need to clip those corners before turning.
You don't have to.
@
Maybe not, but it will eliminate some bulk.
What yardage? Pretty!
2 1/2 yards of each print 😉
Hi. Love it. What size needle?
Missy, what size needle and what type of thread (is polyester ok?) And what stich length, please?
I would use polyester since fleece is made out of polyester
Would a serger work for this project?
Sure
After using 2.5 yards of each, what is the finished size of the blanket? And prob dumb question, LOL, what color thread did you use for this project? I want to be prepared when I get to Joann's 💓 Thank you, Missy!!!!
I didn’t measure!!🤣 I used white!
I'm guessing with 2.5yds each it came just under 90 inches and wof probably 58ish inches.
How did you keep the fabric from moving. What if the fabrics aren’t exactly same size. No pinning?
you can pin if you would like. I prefer not to
Can the fleece be quilted?
Sure!
What size stitch did you use? Thanks!
Take a sample scrap and start out at 2.5 she probably did that or 3.0
For the final top stitching, she probably did 3.5
@@dcwatashi I use a 4 on all polar fleece. I've made about 50 blankets of different sizes using stitch size 4 and lowering the tension a couple of steps. Never had a problem with any finished blanket.
@@marieravening927 great! I don’t think I had to adjust the tension, I always do a sample just in case
Just want to know what type of lighting you are using in your sewing room
Looks really nice and comfy! What size needle and stitch did you use?
Doesn’t the middle sag?
Not at all. The fleece tends to stick together! I washed it and it looks great!!
Do you use a straight stitch or a stretch stitch (like the one that looks like a lightning bolt)?
How many yards did you get?
2.5 yr of each fabric
Fleece like this at Joann's is 58 inches less the words you need to cut off and the 1/4" seam allowance.
Thank yoü
Thank yoü
How many yards of fleece did u use? What is the final size of blanket?
Does anyone know what kind of fleece stays nice and fluffy and doesn’t pill? Thanks! 😍
Anti pill
@ thank you !
That is cute and easy. Thx for the video.
How many yards did you use?
I see that you back tacked using your walking foot. I didn’t think that you were supposed to go in reverse with ? Does it matter?
Where did you get that cutting table?
We built it.
@
Wow, very cool. A dream come true!
I have done this but I think I have it adjusted on one side, flip it over and it is all wonky on the flip side.
Your link took me to newsletter with zipper pouch pattern not fleece blanket bummer
There is no pattern for the blanket,
@@ThelittleGreenBean😂
Directional fabric??
How do you know the blanket is square?
Measures from opposite corners, if they are the same measurements then it’s square.
Great information, but I would have squared the fabric up first. Many times they fabric is not cut straight.
You can make yours any way you would like!!
What is your tension?
How many yards for each piece please?
In the description they have 2 1/2 yds.
How many yard is that blanket?
How many Yards to make this blanket?
2 1/2 yards of each print 😊
Don’t you put the wrong sides together so when you turn it inside out it’s on the right side that you want to see???? I am totally confused.
I sure do and I even say and show that in the video!
Is that 2 yards of fleece?
Check the drop down for further information.
I would love to know also
I used 2 1/2, its all in the description!

I've never had that problem before. Maybe try a different store?
Pretty
Wish it was longer to sleep under on bed.
it's 7 feet long. you can also make yours any size that you want!
People make the tie ones because they don't sew. Not everyone can afford a sewing machine. But your blanket is nice.
Thank you, I detest those tied blankets!!!!!
Wow, that fabric must have been cut perfectly. I usually find that they don't cut straight so I have to even it up.
I did even it up!
Did you clip the whole fleece blanket before you sold it?
Loved your video. I made many tie blankets and it is hard on your back and your fingers if you have arthritis. .
