Love your content bro!, keep it up!
Good video and informational! Thanks my dude
Useful information ! Thank you
I have the JDL turbo with the same Garrett GTX2867r Gen 2 for my GT86. I too went with the carbon synchros from Verus.
Do keep up the great content!!
Ishvinder Singh Parmar have you had the synchros installed?
@@tdfferr8423 yes got the gearbox rebuilt with the synchros installed. Slight crunch on 1st-2nd gear when its cold but once it warms up ,smooth as butter.
Thank you! I appreciate the support! Did you notice a little more gearnoise than before when you had yours installed?
@@AngusOutram yea a bit more than before but once it warms up it gets better but at the same time I do blast my music so its not too noticeable. Please do more content!!! Cheers.
@@drishvin lube the pivot where the throw out bearing rides and clutch fork. 🙌
Nice keep up the content man 👌 I went and solved this issue by installing the mazworx cd009 and haven’t had any issue since
How do you find how the CD009 feels? Still intuitive like the OEM box? The only reason I’ve been hesitant to go the CD009 box is reduced driving feel
Angus Outram the MAIN thing is that it’s LOUD af, but it feels nice and direct when selecting gears. Have no complaints over how the actual gear selections feel
That’s good to know! Sounds like it might be the inevitable upgrade for me!
Love the build 🙌🏽. Built motor and PTE 5558 being dropped in soon hopefully.
Thank you! Oh man that will be awesome! Are you aiming for a particular power figure?
@@AngusOutram I'm more concerned about how it makes power. Aggressive mid-range torque (300+ ft/lbs at 4kRPM) would be awesome. Maybe 450whp peak.
I even struggle on my low boost settings with traction on 255 SUR4G's. i'm looking to go something wider soon. but yours will be insane!
Jacks Transmission here in the states has a full transmission build which has an option for carbon scyncos with WPC treatment, around $3500. This is the route I’m going. Keeps its simple and reliable.
That sounds like awesome value to money. I guess In Australia we are a bit more stripped for affordable options. I'd love to hear back how you go with that upgrade. Is it a straight cut gearset?
@@AngusOutram this is what their build service is :
1st - 6th Gear Synchros
Reverse Gear Synchro
3-4 Shift Fork
1-2 Gear Slider
3-4 Gear Slider (Includes Over-Extension Modifications)
4th Gear Thrust Fix (Our Chromoly 2-piece Custom Thrust Clip)
5-Reverse Gear Slider
Input / Output Oil Seals
WPC Gear Treatments
This is the most comprehensive service package, using an OEM gear set, available for your FRS / BRZ / 86. All reliability issues are addressed, synchronizers, gear sliders, seals, the 3-4 shift fork are replaced, and the complete gear set is WPC treated to increase strength and logevity.
@@CreamyClit what kind of power does it handle after that?
@@86czr7 if that is the rebuild, from what I've heard, its only good enough for stock power or a simple turbo setup
Make a video about the sychros in your trans please
Any updates on how the box held up? looking at boosting my '15 86 and don't really wanna swap boxes.
talk about the built engine! keep up the good work
Video’s coming soon! I’ve had a couple of issues recently so will be some good videos soon!
Do you know a company who does an adapter plate for the dct conversion?
I cannot find any
How had the reliability been since improving the gearbox?
What’s the 0-60 with the turbo kit
hey man, wanted to ask how those verus synchros have been holding up!
Hey man! Sorry I didn’t see this. Great! Still going strong!
How does the kit feel. Any change in the shifting?
No change in the feel of shifting. I would say it the gearbox is a little bit louder than it was when it was stock though. Nothing unbearable though
Did you look at the PAR gearsets, for this platform?
I actually didn't! Some products can be prohibitively expensive to get to Australia. Thank you for the suggestion though! i'll have a look into them!
@@AngusOutram PAR are Sydney based. I am in the process of putting one of their AZ6 gear sets into an MX5
@@terastrader sorry to revive an old comment but did you get the PAR gearset in your mx5? im looking at pushing over 400hp in my nb and im worried about my 6 speed. if you managed to do the swap what hp/torque are you running and did you have any issues?
What’s clutch are you running?
WRX STI NPC clutch, feels OEM and holds the power!
I just saw this video and I’m curious if that kit has still held up? Cause if it can hold I’d rather replace that then buy an entirely new tranny lol
Yeah still going strong! even with the IRP shifter on it (which is known to kill synchro’s) I would 100% recommend the carbon synchro’s and 4th gear oiling mod on any turbo fitted 86!
How's it holding up? Can this kit handle 350 bhp?
Holding up very well! Yeah I would be confident with this kit up to about 400BHP
@@AngusOutram that's what I like to hear!

Wow you sure have spent a lot of money on your girlfriends car.
