For those interested, the original Brick Lane is a road in East London in the UK which is famous for its Indian cuisine. Man, I need a curry right now!
I was thinking that as well
@@TheEssexSpurs even though Phaal and Balti was first made in Birmingham
not really
They are mostly Bangladeshi run in Brick Lane, London. You’ll find those restaurants run by Indians are in Southall.
@badabing8884 so they make and eat the same food. What difference does it make
You can get this curry in most UK curry houses. When we did the phall challenge in Birmingham (1999), the waiter spent 5 minutes talking to us about it, then the chefs came out to make sure he wasn't taking the mickey. When it was served, the chefs came out again to watch us.
In our group of 8, four finished and my insane friend licked others plates clear.....just to prove a point. The morning was not fun.
Also, for the point of accuracy, vindaloo is a highly spiced curry which is also a little sweet and tangy and often somewhat dry, rather than saucy. Spiced doesn't mean spicy as such. It's a Goan dish, which is marinated in wine and because it's Goan, a place which enjoys spicy food, it is often deemed the spiciest of the traditional curries. However, it's a flavourful dish, so if you want spice heat, get a Naga.
Have you not heard of Andhra Pradesh ?? 😀
Ah, a fellow curry enthusiast who enjoyed a curry challenge in my home city! I do enjoy a good phall, but then again, I basically have an asbestos mouth so it's all good.
Best phall I ever had was in Newcastle around 5 years ago. Spectacularly flavoursome and somehow hotter than the ones I had in the balti triangle. Mistakes were made the next morning however.
As a native of Bethnal Green, East London, Brick Lane was at the end of my street. I have eaten 1000s of Rubys (curries) and have got to know the owners of a few restaurant's very well. All have said the Indian, Pakistani and Bengali people very rarely eat dishes of madras, vindaloo and Phall heat. It's more about the flavour. 1/2 tsp of Kashmiri chilli powder and a couple of green chilies usually suffices.
This is not the end of the challenge, the real challenge will start the next morning. Take some ice cubes with you in the toilet
Or frozen toilet paper
😅
Or Stand in a field and try to fart...u will be the next Inter Continental Ballist Missile (ICBM)🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Boy, the crowd won't be there to chant this time. You will be on your own, buddy...
Why ice
Customer in restaurant: *enjoying their meal*
Adam: not on my watch
I used to always order Vindaloo extra hot but now moved onto Phaal as my regular choice, to be honest it's not that bad. The heat is balanced to some extent against other flavours. The trick is to drink piping hot tea with the meal. If you do cold drinks or yoghurt you'll be there all day, because as soon as you swallow it the relief is gone, so you have to drink litres of milk or other cold stuff. Hot drinks reset the temperature pain receptors very very quickly. 2 cups of tea will neutralize a vindaloo, maybe 3 cups for a phaal.
thanks man! I'm gonna try that... I've got a Phaal coming now.
The order - I think was Madras, Vindaloo Tinderloo and the latest Phall. Vindaloo seems not as hot as the 1990's. I think the curry house adds more curry - if the eaters are drunk - rude etc. I always try spicy food and on holidays try the local cuisines etc but not so good ast eating a chillies for the sake of it - burniing my mouth out - nahh leave that well alone. Ps not so much on the tinderloo - never made a name for itself?
@@phild5454 I was ordering a takeaway one night and one of the lads asked for a Korma, so I ordered him a Tindaloo. That was the only curry house I ever saw that dish sold in.
I have ate 2 phaals in my lifetime so far and to be honest they are absolutely brutal. If you manage to finish this dish you will feel the after effects the day afterwards and its almost a spiritual journey, although it is mostly an endurance of pain
Yep it's insanely🔥, I remember I could feel my stomach burning.

There are few spices that generate heat, other than chillies and chilli powder. Ground mustard seeds and black pepper do, but not to the same level as chilli. Hate this format of joke...but this hit the nail on the head 😂😂
Hahah
One time we went to an Indian restaurant called Chennai Cafe and my dad tried Chicken Vindaloo and it burned the heck out of his mouth! I think he requested hot but the waiter actually suggested he actually get the medium. He sure dodged a bad day!
My mouth is watering right now
Adam the food warrior...yeyyyy !
Because of this video I wonder how many times that poor chefs had to cook this curry
Through 2019 I lived in India for 3 months, I do not handle spicy food that well, but now when my friends say it's spicy, I don't feel a thing from our own foods, just a bit of spice...
Legend has it that the chef wears that mask all the time wherever he goes. 2020 goals
Looks delicious and inedible
