  • Here I perform a Rear Differential fluid change on a 2008 Ford F-250 at 100k Miles. This truck has the 10.5 Sterling Limited Slip Differential.
I used 3.5 quarts of Motorcraft 75w-140 Synthetic Gear Oil.

I use a hyd. Jack against the bottom of the cover to get it off . I use a gasket instead of the RTV sealant. Lot easier to remove next time.

Good tip on the jack. Gasket should work just as well. I recall I wasn't able to find one online when I did this job, so I went with RTV. Thanks for the comment!

thanks for the video. did mine (93 f250 IDI) and followed the recommended torque spec of 35 pounds. now my top bolt has its head attached merely with RTV. needless to say that spec is wildly inaccurate…

Did I give you that torque spec in this video? Been a while. I can't remember.

Hi nice video . I have a 21 250 with they 10.5 sterling . Now Ford says 75w85 fluid , I wonder why they changed it ? Gas mileage maybe ? My truck has the 6.2 6 speed . Didn't need the diesel .

How many quarters of 75W140 did you put on?

The Sterling 10.5 takes 3-1/2 qts. I thought I mentioned at that one point. Apologies if I overlooked that.
