- This is a quick way to keep your diff vent clean. Keeping the vent clean means your diff can breath properly and expel any air pressure that builds up when it is spinning inside. If the vent gets plugged, your axle seals can be blown from the pressure. try to get the least amount of dirt into the vent possible.

cool dude thanks
Good tip, the vents are usually overlooked
Smart, I'm using this on my quad
Great idea ! Thanks. No way in H am i going through that "D i need a pull handle to break it loose" then SNAP !!!
Overfilled my rear end a little bit and my pinion bearing started leaking so did the wheel bearing on the pulling wheel
And having that vent valve stopped up good really do some damage
Luckily I only drove it 304 me to the grocery store and back for the last 5 before I discovered my mistake
Thanks
Thanks dude that's helpful but I don't know what's wrong with mine that bit bottoms out before it even gets in the tube on something metal
Mmm im not sure but that part should unthread from the tube
Just replaced mine on my 2002 4Runner. About $13 from dealer and took me about 15 minutes total. Why not just replace with a new part?
Just was worried about snapping it off since we are up in the rust belt.
Dollarama!
Or remove and replace it for 10 bucks and have peace of mind.. cheap replacement
Might be cheap to buy but sure a pain to change after the saulty rusty winters in Ontario.
@@blackmasta71 yes so your point being that just replacing the vent tube doesn't itself clean out the vent hole. interesting. I just thought that the end of the vent tube would get clogged. thanks
@@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885 yeah, if you pull your vent tube right off you should be able to see wether its plugged on the diff or not.
That entire metal piece connected to the axle broke off for me. People been saying use easy out to extract the bolt but I can’t tap it in due to it being an open hole going into the axle. Any ideas ?
@@kyleriley7362Way late but the only fix i know is weld a fitting on to the axle housing. I hope you fixed it. Thank you ! Your comment saved me from snapping it off. edit My bad. That would still require drilling.
Damn what a dumbass I am I was checking it with the axle in the tube 🤪
Your axle wasn't in their
