You suggest we watch one video a day of yours. I watched you for the first time today--about 3 hours ago, and haven't been able to stop! I must have watched 20 videos today alone!! So, tomorrow--20 more? I will actually go back tomorrow and do am bunch of the exercizes I learned today. I am a professional singer who has just become VERY lazy, and my voice is becoming thinner and weaker because of it. Starting today--I am going to get back to strengthening my voice with daily exercizes. I think/hope that my voice is just out of shape. ( have had it checked for damage--Dr. says no damage, just need technique. ) Thank you so much.
Careful Wanda - Baxterthon's can cause info-overload! Slooooow down and chew each video well before swallowing. That's great news from your doctor - so no excuses for a weak sound! Be patient. It took a while to get that way though so don't try to make it stronger overnight.

Dear Mark, Congratulations on reaching your Goal and for making each one of the 100 videos so creative, brilliantly instructive, superhumanly insightful, and just plain crazy fun. A million thanks, Mr. Baxter, Sir.
4:33 that made me think about my life, like for real, what you said went deep inside my brain and heart, i have just taken the decision to leave college to become a singer, that's all i needed, a little bit of motivation. keep it up man, you're great :)
That inspiring music at the end with the doughnut was brilliant. Felt like something out of South Park/Book of Mormon, in the best of ways. Challenge accepted!
Wow, this is brilliant. I am going to do something. Not sure what. Don't have the courage to sing on YT......yet. :D Thank you for an excellent, and very funny, video!
So I picked up a guitar for the first time in my life 3 years ago, at age 62. I set a goal to learn 80 Dylan songs in 3 years, I loved learning and worked 2 hours a day every night and took lessons weekly. Memorizing lyrics and guitar, I made it happen. Now I need a goal to learn vocal technique and learn how to sing. I accept your challenge. I still play 2 hours every night but now am seeking fine tuning of those songs in the process. I never followed music in my life until now. It is coming from a deep place and its time is now.
This is Theresa Micheal, and now a mother of 2 kids who sing almost anything, but in my days we were taught to sing the O's and the A's. The teacher who taught me singing taught me a number of things that you posted. The videos that you have made has inspired to do the same, as we live in India, the accents are neutral, so I might just change the accent you use to a neutral and start teaching all my kids and people in the neighborhood to sing correctly, my videos may not be as good as yours, but I am still trying a hundred ways to make kids enjoy their moments in singing. We do a lot of singing programs for migrant labor camps, this also helps them to learn English. Secondly your videos is not just helping my singing but help me to help others to sing. Thank you so much for taking me back to the school I loved the most cause it taught me to sing, and thank you again for making me a better teacher.
Finding this is timely. I've just been asked to sing a soprano solo in church on Easter. I haven't sung a solo in over 10 years. I've been singing with the tenors in the church choir for about that long (they always need more tenors). I've lost my upper register - which wasn't all that strong to start with. So it's time to repair. I'm so glad your videos are here. I'll just add this challenge to the weight loss challenge I'm doing -- what's one more thing? Thanks for the help.
Mark, Great stuff. I've been using your exercises for 14 years. I've been gigging a lot and it's helped me enormously. I can sing now! Question. Where are the videos you wanted us to watch for this challenge? And how do I get them in order? Thanks.
Hey Ken - great to hear from you! Click on this link and start right at the top left hand corner : ruclips.net/user/voicelessondotcomvideos There's over a hundred videos now but none of them are very long. Enjoy!
hahahhahaha I'll try. I would love to have to as a coach. You seem like a really encouraging coach that focuses on the fundamentals. One question though, how does smog and air pollutants effect singing in general? I live in South Korea and there are days where the smog is so bad that you can't see more than a mile. And it doesn't help that I'm allergic to dust. I'd love your input on this.
Smog is terrible for health in general - so therefore terrible for singing. But - singing will help to cleanse your lungs with all the extended exhales. I certainly wouldn't give up singing because of smog - because it doesn't seem like it's going away in our lifetime.
Hi Mark, very nice. Saw your stuff on Voice Council website. You mentioned there about the Country singer who was singing in a Metal Band. I'm the opposite in a way. I have the same low voice, but my genre I like is Rock and folk rock, blues rock, folk ballads. I think my voice is suitable for music like Michael Buble, but I only like that music a little bit. (Bing Crosby is great). My voice sounds a lot like Eagle Eye Cherry, but I don't have a great upper range yet, still struggling to connect my voice and make a good mix. Any thoughts on how to be able to sing rock? From say the Commitments to John Mellancamp to Tesla to various rock classics, like Sweet Home Alabama, Black Dog, All Right Now, etc. (and I right songs and so I want to open up my voice to make better songs with an expanded range)
taliwaya89 There's no such thing as a "rock" voice. There are, however, lot's of different rock singers. It doesn't matter so much what your range is - who you are as a person is a much bigger influence on your voice. Since you're writing the songs you sing - make sure you write them for the voice you have NOW - not the one you wished you had. That way you'll sing them more often. As your range expands - you can write for that later. To expand your range I suggest you reduce the push and sing at a lower volume. Allow your voice to venture into the upper register - even if you don't want to sing there. There are lots of exercises posted on thus channel - do them all! But the more valuable videos are the ones focused on your thinking. Watch them. Without a change in mindset - the voice stays put.
One thing that I never did with my singing is that I never set goals. Your GOAL-SETTING video has just helped me make my tasks look like a piece of donut, so I am on a mission to open 100 music academies in India, with academies for the Specially Abled, Street Schools, Orphanages, Sunday Schools and Other General Schools. The music culture in India is excellent, but there very very very few teachers who are guiding and grooming students. I am still catching up with my singing, so I share my training time with my own kids, neighbors kids, and we have a blast. I show them your videos and tell them that this is My Teacher now, and he tells me what to teach you. The were overjoyed when they saw your reply, it was like an autograph, that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. We have started a Rock-The-Rhymes sessions, where we sing We will, we will rock you followed by a Nursery Rhymes, and soon my kids on the block transform from Little Stars To Rock Stars!!! And from all of us in India, WE LOVE YOU!!! FOR BEING THE BEST ONLINE SINGING TEACHER.
Hey mark ... what are your views about different "voice types" like those basses, baritones, tenors and vocal range?? and what should people be singing based on their voice types...
Voice classifications are necessary for a composer or playwrite to understand in order to orchestrate their pieces properly. If you sing classical music or desire theater roles you'll need to know your classification and FACH (not just your range but what roles your timbre is best suited for). However, if you sing contemporary music, and especially if you write the songs you'll be singing there's no need to define your voice in this way. Any contemporary song can be adjusted to fit your voice. What matters most is that you are comfortable when singing and able to express yourself.
Hallo Dear Mark,Wish you all the best for completing your 100 vedio target.I congratulate you from the core of my heart You are all doing this for the cause of music lovers..Further i want to tell you that i am facing the problem of vocal fatigue for the last six months. The ENT doctor has advised voice therapy that I am doing but still the voice is not sharp but husky. The voice becomes tired. It is some what better in the morning but changes up to the evening.Clerity and sharpness is still not attained.I fear that will I have the same voice as earlier.I am confused please advise what to do ? Earlier I have also sought your advice.I have performed your exercises as well. With Loving Regards Jagmohan Singh INDIA
It is good news that your voice is somewhat better in the morning - which indicates it is behavior that is causing your husky issue. That is why the ENT advised therapy. Since I don't know you (or your behavior) I would recommend you continue with your therapist. Six months is not a long time when it comes to adopting new behaviors. I would also recommend you use my channel as a resource for inspiration. More than the exercises I have posted - it is the videos regarding mindset that can be very affective. Improving the voice requires re-training the brain!
I am really confused at a question i.e, is it safe for a singer to work out in the gym lifting weights or would it be hazardous to do so ? Any suggestions on this...
There's an answer to just about any question on my page! Whether lifting is stressful on your vocal folds depends on your lifting technique. Watch this: ruclips.net/video/FcdhnbTUElg/видео.html
Hi Mark. I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I've been practicing to your most recent vocal warmup. I've been wondering, is it asking too much to have you listen to one of my singing videos and maybe critique me on how I can improve my singing abilities? Thanks. And I accept your 100th video challenge!! Excited to see the improvement.
Hi Bryan and welcome to my channel. I'm glad you've accepted my challenge and I know you will learn a great many things about singing that will help you improve. It's too early for me to listen to you - I would only be repeating what I've already posted here on my channel.
What are your accreditations? I have looked for them but can't find them. Sorry if that seems rude, but I'd like to know about your experience and vocal background. Thanks. :)

With Loving Regards

Thanks. :)

Hey, happy 100th vid! I'm wondering though, why watch backwards? Wouldn't it make more sense to watch them in the order you originally posted them in?
I suggested backwards because it would provide an exercise on the next day.
Voice Lesson.com Ah, gotcha! Well thanks for all the hard work! I appreciate the extra mile you go for making your videos more interesting and/or engaging with all the little production bits. For me, it mostly represents how much you actually care. Thanks again!
What do you recommend for cool down after a long rehearsal?
Start with some lip trill sirens and then finish with very low volume hums on various pitches.
I really want a donut now🍩😉
You'll have to wait till you finish your 100 days!

I may be just a beginner but whoa. I want to try this challenge to be honest. Of course my first covers may not be brilliant but you need to make mistakes to learn something new right? :D
