    Hope I explained it clearly in the video. It is very useful approach to unify all of the sources into one color space and work in it. That's how ACES helps to build a pipeline.

    Dear Post Processed, so nice video thank you a lot for convinient, cimple and fast what is really important explanation. As a CGI and Compositing specialist, I'd like to mention that it's generally possible to render your work from Unreal Engine in a linear color space. Later, in DaVinci Resolve, you can follow the same steps, still making use of ACES benefits. ACES essentially functions as a kind of LUT, allowing you to handle all data from Linear Gamma Files, which theoretically encompass all AP-0 data and display it on your screen for a comfortable and efficient workflow.

    • @postprocessed

      you can do both options, either set project settings, or use color space transform

    Incredible video and content! thank you so much for bringing us amazing content. Is it possible to make a video for unreal engine 5 rendering settings to have the best quality render in Path Tracing and in Lumen ? and How to set fully path tracing in the scene and fully lumen in the scene ? because since UE5.3 came up they made the lumen as default and to set path tracing or lumen settings in project settings and post processing volume makes confusion!
    Thank you again for these amazing videos, you are the best!

      Good idea.. working with unreal for 6 month now and im still confused on path tracing, ray tracing and lumen.. especially since after rendering the light looks sometimes so different then it was in the engine

    Great video! Do you know if you can still use LUTs in UE5 with the Aces workflow? I’ve been trying get my cinematic to render with it for weeks and nothing seems to work. Tried on the camera, an unbound PPV, and a million different settings variations. Love ur car anim workflow by the way- gonna try it soon.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial Post processed. I actually have a whole green screen film I'm working my way through in Unreal Engine/DaVinci resolve. If you were to do it the other way, eg compositing in Unreal from Davinci, how would you prepare the footage for export? Any differences in the color space transforms? How would you setup for EXR exports, eg an rgb float?

    • @postprocessed
      @postprocessed  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hm... Let me think... I guess I would compose in DaVinci Fusion. And would only export png sequences (keyed) in davinci to set the camera and match lighting in UE scene. Than export UE render and compose in Fusion/Nuke... I am not a fan of composure pipeline in Unreal, I yet find it quite different and can't get used to it.
      So my approach to this would be:
      Export filmed footage as PNG sequence from DaVinci. Put it on a camera plate in UE, prepare scene, camera match move and etc.
      Export UE render separately and compose it in Fusion. I believe that would be easy-going and understandable approach.
      Let me know what do you think?

    Amazing! Could the next step be how to extract masks for compositing from UE and use them inside DaVinci? Let's say that my color grading will involve only the round tables in front ;-) Thanks a lot.

    Awesome! My only gripe is doing this on a macbook in davinci resolve. Because ACES 1.2 doesn't support REC709A, so renders from davinci end up washed out. Thoughts on fix?

    • @postprocessed
      @postprocessed  7 месяцев назад +1

      You can render from DaVinci with gamma and color space tag, scroll down on render settings and look for this parameter. In gamma tag set it to “Rec709A” works each time when I deliver stuff to client with Mac. And on all other platforms it will display correctly too

    I am trying to use Greenscreenfootage or Greenscreen Footage which is Live Keyed with CamLink in Unreal Engine. The problem is to colorgradde match the greenscreen filmed person to the unreal scene since colorgrading in unreal engine does not offer lots of possibilities. Is there a way to run the live footage through da vinci resolve colorgrade it there and then the changes are applied to it being in unreal?

    • @postprocessed
      @postprocessed  8 месяцев назад

      yea, kind of. You can render separately UE background, than in Resolve match the footage to UE background, render it and import to UE. That should be the option

    Incredibly explained ❤, I have a small request bro, can we get a tutorial for aces workflow in unreal engine and green screen compositing inside of unreal engine, it would be cool if we render our footage inside of unreal engine with aces applied to our footage and scene both , so will it work bro? Please make a tutorial bro ❤

      Hey there! There was similar question in the comments so I think this would be better approach, copying my response:
      " I guess I would compose in DaVinci Fusion. And would only export png sequences (keyed) in davinci to set the camera and match lighting in UE scene. Than export UE render and compose in Fusion/Nuke... I am not a fan of composure pipeline in Unreal, I yet find it quite different and can't get used to it.

    Utility -Linear-Rec.709 is an ODT, Output Device Transform, whose sole function is to transform the colour space from scene-linear (ACEScg) to displays set to the Rec.709 colour space
    The correct colour space setting should be ACES - ACEScg
    And I don't think you have to specify the second colour space as I can't think of any scenario/ workflow where you have to switch from ACEScg since our outputs are well, cgi

    • @postprocessed
      @postprocessed  Месяц назад

      Hey! That is either your display color settings, or not correct color space transform. If you are using MacOS ther should be some color profiles set. That happens sometimes if you don't have your monitor properly set

    Please help me. I followed your instruction about bringing in an Aces space video into Davinci and everything worked. Now I want to bring my Braw footage on top of the video like you also did in the last part of the video. However I dont understand how I should interpret the Braw inside the davinci project.
