    The Batman coming out during the prime of cringe-worthy MCU phase 4 was exactly what we needed. The sounds, Pattinson’s movements and eyes, the cinematography, entire cast nailed it, Batman is actually a detective finding his way in year 2 and learning. Growth and progression as a character. I loved this film.

    • @rottensquid
      @rottensquid 3 месяца назад +3

      It also served as a counterargument to the house style used at Marvel. I get the utility of the house style, but it gave the MCU a limited shelf-life. If all the movies are more or less the same contiguous movie story, eventually, that story has to end, if for no other reason than its style has grown stale and predictable, a prison that suffocates fresh ideas. And boy, has it ever!

    • @sooperd00p
      @sooperd00p Месяц назад

      I thought it was just as cringe. I turned it off after an hour and 45 mins. I gave it a solid chance. It's an awful movie. I can see why the Penguin got a spin off as Collin Ferrel was very good in an otherwise bad movie written for stoopid people. Sorry not sorry.
      In one scene, Selina simply states to Batman that all the people with power at the top are "white and privileged".

    Also I love how the bat mobile, like Christine started up with no driver and seemed to act on its own adding to the lore of Batman. He not only comes out of the darkness ruins a bunch of people's days and fades back into the darkness but his car can also. 😂 The red glow on the front of the car seriously reminded me of the furnace in Home Alone when Kevin would go into the basement it would "come alive". All it was missing was the opening and closing grill like a mouth. But that would have been more from the world of Batman and Robin. Haha

      I can't remember if there were any kids in the Dark Knight Rises, but there were some cute moments with kids in both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I feel like Batman should never get too far away from being a thrilling spectacle for children. Something important is lost without that.

    I think Mad Hatter would work great in this universe as a drug dealer who uses a drug of his own design by getting people addicted to them, and uses their desperation to control them. Instead of hypnotizing them he just preys upon the addicted to get what he wants.
    Clayface could work as a whodunnit because their have been several clayface’s in the comics and having them all be suspects and the one true clayface would be Cassius Payne who was born deformed and uses makeup and prosthetics to disguise himself.

      @@davidrichey5319 Mad Hatter would and should be in the next film not as a major player but maybe just a high ranking dealer at the start of the film who gets taken down by Batman, adding to the world building. He could be dealing of Drops and other narcotics. He could look like a junky and insane or Mad. Maybe have White Rabbit playing in the background a song using Wonderland as a metaphor for drugs and hallucinations. Matt Reeves has teased Mad Hatter by making people think Barry would play him. But also it’s unlikely he’s unaware of social media wanting to see Mad Hatter.
      Clayface be a master of disguise is completely plausible because well Colin looks like a completely different person.

    • @Retro_Red

      It seemed like Alfred couldn't figure out how to guide Bruce out of the terror and shame he was trapped in, so he taught him self-defense as a way to break him out of his helplessness. But ultimately, giving him that sense of agency just fueled his revenge fantasies. That seems pretty straightforward from what we learned in the film. (And here I'm strictly talking about the movie as a self-contained story, rather than trying to attach it to the entire 85 year Batman history)

    Great Breakdown! Regarding whether the Riddler knows whether Bruce is Batman, I think he does. There is a subtle clue, and I don't think it is a mistake by the filmmakers. The letters which the Riddler leaves for Batman are addressed with the following phrases:
    1st letter/Mayor's letter: To the Batman
    2nd letter/Commissioner's letter: To the Batman
    3rd letter/DA's letter: To the Batman
    4th letter/Bruce's letter: For the Batman
    5th letter/Falcone's letter: To the Batman
    The 4th is letter is For the Batman and not To the Batman as The Riddler wanted Alfred to die (and not Bruce), who was probably the only obstacle between The Riddler and Batman becoming allies.

    Edit : I hope they keep the joker as a side villain so they can let other villains from the rogue gallery shine

    The arching seam across the forehead, stitched on ears, and the square panel on the nose of the cowl makes it look like the gritty version of the one Adam West wore too.

    I had this theory that the Penguin is the way he is because he was beaten and tortured by corrupt cops to get him to give up Falcone. But because he grew up with a gangster code, never talk to cops, never rat out your people, etc, he kept his mouth shut and took it, even when they cut the achilles tendon on his foot. That's why he walks with a limp. So when Falcone turns out to have colluded with the cops to destroy a fellow gangster, this not only violated the code, but felt like a personal betrayal of the loyalty that cost him so much, that left him half-crippled and looked down on by his fellow gangsters. That's why he was so disgusted with Falcone.
    It's a theory that required a few leaps, so it doesn't really hold up as potential canon. And Reeves himself suggested that Penguin had grown up being ridiculed, so obviously, he had something else in mind. Still, I like the idea, because it explains Penguin's outrage when he learns Falcone's secret. My biggest complaint about the film itself is that there are too many vague, unconnected details like this. It could have used one more pass to link things up a bit more. But in the world of screenplays, each new draft can break as many links as it shores up, because everyone wants to put their own stamp on it, rather than massage and perfect what's already there.

    The characterization of the Riddler being a homeless orphan and having a chip on his shoulder because of it over Bruce Wayne is ridiculous. Of all the characters you could have done that backstory for you did it for Riddler, who just thinks he's smarter than everybody and completely different than that. I kind of look at it like Joaquin Phoenix as the joker who would not rant like that at the end of the movie towards Robert dildo. He just took it way too personal and by then if you're turning into the joker, you wouldn't do that.

    Batman's persona is dropped almost entirely around Selina, it show's he's ready to let his guard down and let someone in by the time they get really close. Doesn't really happen with anyone else in the film, not even with Alfred until he almost loses him.

    The chance of seeing Deathstroke again in Brave in the Bold is incredibly high. We're getting Damian Wayne as the main robin, the bat-family, it'll be more fantastical. Some aspects of Affleck's script with aspects of the animated film Son of Batman, and there you have it.
