I’m about 8 weeks in and I like it, after being really skeptical at first. I don’t spend a lot of money on hair care in general but coloring my hair has really wrecked it. I figured I’d give it a go after getting a haircut with a ton of layers. Regular shampoo was making the layers fluffy and fuzzy and I was having to use a lot of products to get the definition I wanted. The first thing I learned is that you have to use about double the amount of product than you’d expect (a stylist shared that tip with me) to get your hair clean and conditioned. A nice big blob - don’t skimp. This made me balk initially because of the cost of the product, but I gave it a shot and it made a difference. I scrub it in with a cheap scrubby thing from Amazon and then do the rest of my shower routine. Again, I spend double the amount of time rinsing than you would think. My hair did adjust after about 2 weeks - you do have to resist the temptation to keep washing every day to let the scalp recalibrate. This is true of any co-wash or no-poo routine. What I notice most is that my hair is much easier to style - I have less fluff and frizz. It feels less dry in the ends. I use less styling product to get it to do what I want. It’s more wash and go - and I like not having to use a separate conditioner because that step always gets rushed for me. Anyway, hair is so personal but wanted to share my experience!
After trying this product for 5 weeks now, I googled reviews and stumbled across yours. I can relate, I was nodding and relating to your hair story the whole way through watching. I have oily roots and fine hair. I had the exact same experience as you. I persevered because I thought the whole shampoo stripping your hair of its natural oils and scalp overproducing oil made sense and I soo wanted it to work. I think after watching your review i’m going to admit defeat and stop hoping for a miracle. I cannot wait to wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner and go back to coming out of the shower with the confidence of knowing I have clean hair! No more blow drying my hair to realise it’s still greasy and having to get back in and wash and rinse rinse rinse again because it’s still oily. Thanks for your honest and relatable review.
Thanks for sharing your experience, Claire. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you either but you will REALLY enjoy washing your hair with shampoo for the first time in five weeks! Enjoy : )
Did you use the original? Maybe try the deep if you have oily hair. I had to go from the deep because I thought my hair was oily but I turned to the original and it worked,
Is anyone still using this? I have not found a video about it that is less than 2 years old. I just tried it and I absolutely love it so far. (I normally use few ingredient non sls products however.)
I used this for five weeks and had the exact same experience as you. By week 2-3 I was liking it a lot but eventually I felt like my fine hair was coated in oil even with using the little brush and rinsing forever. Ultimately, I got tired of that coated feeling and the extra long process of scrubbing and rinsing and went back to my sulfate free shampoo and conditioner.
thanks for your honest review. I've been using the original formula for about 5 weeks and my hair is looking pretty good, it is shiny and tangle free. I don't have oily hair though. As you say everyone's experience is different. I bought this as I had been having trouble with my hair falling out in masses to the point that I thought I was going bald - and I finally, after first suspecting diet, decided it was my shampoo. Also my hair was so knotty and tangled and felt awful. I love how my hair feels with this product (shiny, silky and soft) but need to spin it out as $66US is A LOT TO PAY FOR SHAMPOO (sorry, hair wash) - my previous bottles of shampoo averaged $4AU so a massive difference and one hard to justify if I get through the package that I have too quickly - so I haven't been using the 'palm' size portions recommended - just a little squeeze (possibly 2cm). Price is my only hesitation with recommending this product.
I am renting house from airbnb now. And in the bathroom i found this 2 unopened sachets, i think the guest bfr me didnt like it 😂 gonna act like it's a free sample & i am gonna try it 😂
I've been using it for 6 weeks now and my hair has never felt better! I love it. I feel like at 8-10 weeks buying one product instead of 2, I absolutely save money. Sorry it didn't work for you.
I just bought a sachet of New Wash Rich and I immediately liked it after the first wash. My hair is color, bleached and damaged at the moment, using a normal shampoo makes it all tangled and I have to spend a lot of time combing it. But with new wash I just need to apply on the hair and wash it away. Anyway, I am positively surprised. I thought I would hate it too but it surprisingly works well for my hair type with no adjustment period. But I can see that it may not be for everyone.
@@thehonestchannel probably because my hair is already quite dry and damaged at the moment so it can’t get any worse! I used to have oily scalp which would have been unbearable if I didn’t use a proper shampoo, I can totally see where you’re coming from. I am not seeing any difference between this and a normal shampoo other than it’s easier to apply. But it’s really quite expensive so I’m not sure how long I would be interested in it. Plus, I go to the gym regularly and wash my hair after each gym session (duh!), so even if it really prolongs the time between each wash, I’m not benefiting from it.
it’s an amazing business scheme targeting women. i am actually bought a mens thickening shampoo for 4 time less of a price than the women’s are usually cost and like it a lot
I actually really love this product except for the price. Yes you need to rinse well. I have highlighted hair that tends to have dry ends and this seems to help. It’s much softer
I had hoped that this product would help control my curly hair during the oppressive humid days that we experience here in the Midwest. I liked the consistency, scent & the fact that it encourages the customer air dry their hair, that it doesn’t require heat to ‘activate’. After using only Hairstory products for 5-6 months my hair began to fall out; so much so that my hair dresser asked me what I was doing differently. She showed me all of the hair left in the bowl after washing & I was shocked. I told her that I was seeing the same thing at home. She suggested going to a dermatologist to have my scalp checked or to have bloodwork done. I immediately stopped using Hairstory & went back to the products I used before. I wasn’t able to get into a dermatologist due to the pandemic. I’m happy to report that my hair has grown back about 2 ½ inches & bloodwork shows no medical reason for the loss of hair. Now my frizzy locks contain new hair growth & I’m ok with that.
Thanks for sharing it. I know several influencers that really push this product line and I am so glad I didn’t give in. That palmful of product thing is just wrong..
@@StankaKordic Thank you! I REALLY did want to love this product, but I didn't see the benefits that I was seeing online. I also was wary of having to potentially commit to a 'subscription' to the product; I haven't heard of something like that but Hair Story was very accommodating to send me their original product when New Wash wasn't what I thought it would be. The hair LOSS was a 'bit' of a deal-breaker. duh
@@StankaKordic I think that would depend on the length of your hair. My fine hair comes to my shoulders and that would be way too much. I don't like influencers that push products that they may not have tried and I don't think that you should have to commit to a potential 'subscription' for shampoo/hair products. I really really hoped that this would be something I could use to battle the humid summers we have, but when I started losing hair....it was disappointing. I know that I have heard similar comments about DevaCurl which I have used in the past. Loving your curls is difficult when you need four or five products to tame them and straight hair is always preferred in advertising.
I find the diversity in results a little crazy, I've used hair story for nearly two years and the one sachet has lasted me about a year and a half! definitely a saving for me. But I can see how having to use it that regularly would be frustrating and very costly.
I really appreciate this review, my hair is similar to yours and it sounds like too much work for the expense. I recently bought the SEEN Skin-Caring shampoo and conditioner and like them so far. They are not the same as HairStory but similar in that they are a "clean" option. I am liking them so far and it keeps me on the every-other-day washing cycle before the grease sets in at the roots.
I just found your channel yesterday, and I just know I'm going to get absolutely NOTHING done, because I'm going through your videos one after another, lol:) I had never heard of this hair product, so I watched with interest. Judging by the response you got from the company to keep using it, and use palmfuls, it seems a bit of a scam. I did read on Amazon, that the New Wash Deep is the most cleansing and less conditioning formula, which is best for oily hair. Is that the one you used? Maybe it makes a difference, maybe not, but at those prices, it would really NEED to.
Aww, thank you so much. So glad you’re enjoying the videos. I used the original New Wash rather than the ‘Deep’ version. Back to using regular shampoo and conditioner now and my hair feels SO much better : )
Thanks Dianne. I’ve gone back to normal shampoo and conditioner again and my hair is looking much better for it. One thing New Wash did teach me is to scrub and rinse my scalp clean after conditioning and I find that is helping quite a lot.
Try the original instead the deep. I switched after working with the people at New Wash and it worked for me. I actually use less shampoo than they recommend but it works for me!
I have been looking for a solution for oily roots and dry ends for some time. My hair is very short, it's fine but I have a lot of it. It's also highlighted with foils which of course leads to damaged ends if not condition properly. I found it when I came off the pill in my 40s that my scalp became very greasy, something I used to experience as a teenager and obviously must be linked to hormones. After deliberating for over a year I decided to try new wash, the first wash I did I washed extremely thoroughly and they mention, my friends are hairdressers I know what throughly means! My hair felt terrible and certainly not conditioned, they mentioned that if my ends felt dried out I should wash again, which I did. My hair was definitely not comb through as they suggest, it was knotty and dry on the ends. admittedly my roots were better for the next few days but the ends of my hair felt absolutely awful. Because of my situation they had also marketed to me they're dry shampoo and their smoothing balm, the dry shampoo is diabolically bad and it's like adding ground fibreglass to the roots of your hair but not only can you see it feels like your hair has been dragged backwards through Brambury bush, the smoothing lotion is awful, coats your hair and makes it heavy and dull, much more greasy than if you didn't wash it in the first place. I persevered and try to 2nd wash, the second wash it was as bad as the first if not worse, it was so bad that I actually had to get my own conditioner and condition my ends. It's now been several weeks and my hair still feels wretched, it's actually damaged my hair and two treatments later. It feels like it's got an awful coating on it it than makes it feel dry and brittle on the ends, just awful. I am so bitterly disappointed because I've had a lot of issues with my type of hair living in Spain, and with trying to find the right Hairdresser. After many disasters with different hairdressers over processing my hair with foils I finally got my hair right, and then I stupidly tried New Wash. Back to square one what a nightmare!!!
I’m sorry you had a bad experience with New Wash. I can tell you that I have since found a conditioning wash that worked much better for me and I reviewed it here ruclips.net/video/D37s2pCsEO8/видео.html
Thanks for such a great review. I’ve been looking at New Wash and was on the fence about it esp taking into account the price. Taking a few weeks to transition sounds ridiculous and I never wash my hair every day. My sister has oily hair like you and she said she would never put any hair product that contains oil in her hair even if they are essential. Thanks again for the review, the lower half of your hair looked fantastic but what good is that when you have limp or oily hair at the root?
Hello! I really liked your review. bummer you didn't really like it at the end but that's ok! I do really like it and recommend it to my clients. But of course not 100% of my clients are going to like it like I do. I was thinking though, that there are 3 formulas from new wash. and New Wash Deep is made for oily scalps (i think you were using the original formula?) Maybe the Deep formula would have given you better results? the different formulas are made for scalp type not necessarily hair type. Also another thought i had- is maybe your hair is getting build up; since you mentioned you noticed personally that switching between products seems to work better for your hair. build up can cause any product to not really work well after a while. Build up dosn't necessarily have to come from the product, it could be minerals in your water or the porosity of your hair grabbing at different rates, the ends will grab more vs the roots (since you have highlights/color) there are build up removing treatments or shampoos you can use once a month and also filters to put on your shower head. This can help any product to work better longer (depending on the reason) any way not trying to persuade you to like new wash, ultimately what ever makes you look and feel your best is what is best for you! And i am sure you have a wonderful stylist ( your color looks great!) that can help you find what will work best with out having to switch up products all the time. Again great video thank you!
This is such a thoughtful comment - thank you 🙏 I really wanted to like it but the build-up was bad. Thinking about it, build up is definitely something that seems to affect me more than most so what you say does ring true. I guess I could give the Deep formula a go in combination with a treatment to address the build-up. Is there one you suggest?
@@thehonestchannel hello! Thank you for replying back 😊 It would be interesting to see what you thought about the new wash deep. But I do have some recommendations for a build up removing treatment, no matter what type of shampoo you choose to use. I recommend to my clients a malibu treatment. It’s a 2 step treatment by the company malibu c The first step is a “crystal gel” treatment followed by their “miracle repair”treatment. It’s very effective but still gentle and non chemical. The main ingredient is vitamin c in the form is ascorbic acid. It’s only sold to professionals to be used in the salon so the company does not sell it online. But they are international so im sure you can find a salon in your area that offers it. It would be a 1 hour session including blowdry They do sell on thier site a hard water treatment if you think minerals in the water is the problem, this should also be followd by the miricle repair treatment. crystal gel will remove the mineral deposits from hard water but also build up from hair products, cholorine, deposits from smoking and even medications we are taking. if you want to do something at home a great product build up removing shampoo i love that will still keep your hair feeling soft is “water works” clarifying shampoo by ouidad. This company is a professional line mainly for curly hair but this shampoo will work on any hair type. I hope this helps and hope you get better results with your hair whichever direction you go in 💕
@@1976kookiemama hi! Thank you for mentioning! I have t shopped at Sally’s in a long time so I didn’t realize they sold it. They do sell other pro hair products too so that makes sense. I did check on Amazon for that particular Malibu Treatment but i didn’t see it when I looked. Of course things always change in Amazon so thank you for mentioning this!
Sounds like it’s causing build up and might lead to hair loss . They’re adopting the same marketing strategy, over priced subpar quality of MLMs without being one . Wen and Devacurl No poo wash we’re very similar to this cowash product and caused a lot of hair loss due to buildup . A lot of videos and articles on that.

Thanks for sharing! I was interested in the product because of the concept, but washing my hair every day? No. If I have to do that just to get my hair to adjust, no thanks. My hair is colour damaged, wavy to almost curly, dry and oily by the scalp. I use Pureology and that works fine right now. Greetings from Sweden 🙂🇸🇪🌻
Hi Elisabeth. Others may find they don’t have to use this every day, but my hair was so oily after using it that I certainly did. I took care to rinse very carefully but couldn’t get it to work out. Sounds like you have very similar hair to me. I find the L’Oréal Elvive and Schwarzkopf oils really helpful for taming the mane!
@@thehonestchannel I'm glad you know what works best for your hair. It's so difficult to really know and I've noticed that my hair changes through the years. Of course, a natural process. When it's a bit humidity outside, I look like I have a bad perm! 😄😄😄
It didn’t work for me, my hair was greasier than ever, super heavy and not so shiny. I believe it might cause buildup that could lead to hairloss… another waste of money for me 😐
If you naturally produce more oil, you might benefit from a dry shampoo. If you find it happens overnight & you wake up feeling greasy, I would use dry shampoo at night before bed, so that overnight it absorbs the oil. Or experiment & do it in the morning, but i suspect getting ahead of it at night might work. It sounds like a vicious cycle, & washing every day might be triggering it to make more oil. Its really not the best thing to wash every day. But again, i get it ive tried it & it is expensive. I found a sort of dupe i like, Jason brand anti dandruff scalp care shampoo. It smells very medicinal but i find it refreshing. The similarities is that its creamy & non-lathering & does not strip oils, it is color safe. im curly & dry not oily at all so these both work for me, but the Jason brand is a fraction of the cost & convenient for me to pick up @ whole foods- i still use a good moisturizing conditioner with it tho & wouldn’t necessarily do that w/New Wash.
I gave it 8 weeks but just couldn’t keep going. To me, this is best suited to drier hair types - though my mum has dry, fine hair and she only washes it twice a week. She had the same experience as me 🤷♀️
Yes, I gave it the full recommended stretch. I did really want it to work, but others have said they had a similar experience. Maybe keeping going with it for longer would have made the difference, but I do feel there are some hair types for which this works better than others.

Yes, it’s a really tempting product but sadly doesn’t work out for everyone. Glad you found the review helpful.
This can help any product to work better longer (depending on the reason)
any way not trying to persuade you to like new wash, ultimately what ever makes you look and feel your best is what is best for you!
Thank you for replying back 😊
It would be interesting to see what you thought about the new wash deep. But I do have some recommendations for a build up removing treatment, no matter what type of shampoo you choose to use.
I recommend to my clients a malibu treatment. It’s a 2 step treatment by the company malibu c
The first step is a “crystal gel” treatment followed by their “miracle repair”treatment. It’s very effective but still gentle and non chemical. The main ingredient is vitamin c in the form is ascorbic acid.
It’s only sold to professionals to be used in the salon so the company does not sell it online.
But they are international so im sure you can find a salon in your area that offers it. It would be a 1 hour session including blowdry
They do sell on thier site a hard water treatment if you think minerals in the water is the problem, this should also be followd by the miricle repair treatment.
crystal gel will remove the mineral deposits from hard water but also build up from hair products, cholorine, deposits from smoking and even medications we are taking.
if you want to do something at home a great product build up removing shampoo i love that will still keep your hair feeling soft is “water works” clarifying shampoo by ouidad. This company is a professional line mainly for curly hair but this shampoo will work on any hair type.
I hope this helps and hope you get better results with your hair whichever direction you go in 💕
@@bizmomplannerco just wanted to add my 2 cents, lol. The Malibu products you mentioned can be purchased on Amazon and Sally's.
Interesting, thanks
I already have a hair loss issues...I hope this doesn't make it worse! I hope I have not made a huge mistake!
Im a hairstylist and i dont spend more than $30 on my hair products just evanyc lazyjane shampoo and the purple conditioner fromthe same brand and a sauce deep conditioner as i have excema and need the extra moister my styling products are total $30 ruzel green Palmdale and gottob hairspray spending $80 on shampoo hurts me my salon shampoo is only $20 a litter
Maybe oily hair not as good for this shampoo. However frizz gone and body back with my finer thick hair! My hair is normal not oily.
Great to hear Donna 👍
@@Bumbledora Me too 😂 I’ve had a whole summer of bad perm!
@@thehonestchannel 😂👍😂👍😂👍😂
It didn’t work for me, my hair was greasier than ever, super heavy and not so shiny. I believe it might cause buildup that could lead to hairloss… another waste of money for me 😐
Yes, I have had a few people say they like it but I had the same experience as you.
Thanks so much for the advice! Much appreciated
Just starting with this and having similar experience. Has anyone used the Asiam Cowash which seems similar but retails at Superdrug for £11.99?
That sounds like a really interesting one to try. My hair is really dry at the moment so I’m still searching for the ultimate hair wash!
Here’s a tip, look for fast hair growth fortified shampoo to double hair growth.
If you didn't wash your hair daily, your hair wouldn't produce so much oil. Give it time and it will adjust.
I gave it 8 weeks but just couldn’t keep
going. To me, this is best suited to drier hair types - though my mum has dry, fine hair and she only washes it twice a week. She had the same experience as me 🤷♀️
Your hair might be going through a detox phase. It takes some people longer than others.
Yes, I gave it the full recommended stretch. I did really want it to work, but others have said they had a similar experience. Maybe keeping going with it for longer would have made the difference, but I do feel there are some hair types for which this works better than others.
