I'm 31. It's great to see Mongoose making decent bikes not just Walmart stuff. I currently have a 97 Mongoose Expert Pro 24 Cruiser (real mongoose). I remember getting a 1997 20" expert pro for my 7th birthday day. We use to race every Wednesday night back then. Then we got into motor cross and hockey. I want to get back into BMX but don't wanna kill my collector bike hahaha. I've been really considering this bike. This bike looks like the modern day equivalent to my old girl. It's great to see it's holding up to the beating.
Yeah, I raced in the 90’s and lived the full Cro-Mo life for a long time. I was hesitant about going to an aluminum frame, but these Mongoose Title and Title Elites are great bikes for a great price.
Great video and the one before it was awesome as well. Really shows Mongoose is working on a solid comeback to BMX racing. I am 47yo and returning to BMX after 21 years away from it. This bike is on the top of my list and I plan to snag one once the new complete builds are released (early 2022 from what I am reading). I also thank you so much for the help by providing measurements of this bike for my evaluation (via my FB request). The numbers confirm that this frame is a bit special in the cruiser bike world. It does have the 0.5" BB Rise (or negative BB Drop in the "official" old school terms), which was what I was hoping. It means that this bike could quickly be converted to OS20 use with wheels and the Vee Speed Booster OS20 x 1.75" tire (since it has the largest of the OS20 wheel diameter) and be a great conversion. From my CAD sketch, it will have a BB height around 11.38", which is identical to many of the dedicated OS20 bike frames I have researched. I hope to grab a complete (or I might dive in to a frame up build) to try with my OS20 wheels and see if it works out as I have calculated. Anyway, thanks for the video reviews and the measurements. Hope your racing goes as planned and you get those top places :D
I'm happy to help out and excited to hear about another "seasoned" person getting back into BMX. The OS20 build seems like it would work out really well. Assuming you would put a different front fork on the bike, be careful that the steertube angle doesn't change too much. Be sure to post some pics of the build on FB as a lot of people are probably keen to see it.
@@TheDriveTrain actually, I would still use the stock 24" fork. Doing that, while swapping both wheels to OS20 will effectively lower the bike about 1". This takes the relatively high stock 24" BB Height (12.35" from my sketch, which seems right based on your pic at just over 12-1/4") and drop it to about 11.38" with Vee Speed Booster OS20 x 1.75" tires on front & rear. There is no reason to swap the fork to anything else, since the smaller OS20 wheel will fit fine (assuming same axle setup). The only real change at the fork is that you will have more clearance between the top of the tire sand the fork crown. Using the stock 24" fork (or any other standard 24" fork upgrade) preserves the Head Tube Angle and nearly all other bike geometry. The biggest change is the lower BB Height, and the Steering Trail gets reduced a bit. It all looks pretty good from what I can tell, so I will be trying to get a frame or bike when I can, and try it in actual practice. As I noted elsewhere, the biggest challenge may lie with brake setup. Current review shows that short chainstay position in the dropout will be needed to get the brake pads and smaller OS20 wheel aligned. It will take one of those brake post extenders set in the low position to get to longer chainstay positions. That, or people that happen to snag the new Mongoose Title Team model won't have that issue since they will be on disc brakes. This is kind of limited, since Mongoose only offers the 21.75" Top Tube length, but comparing to other dedicated OS20 setups, that comes in right in the middle of the Pro XL and Pro XXL versions. So I think this could be a good option for lots of riders wanting a cheap entry into OS20. I hope to nail that all down to make sure I am not missing a road block that prevents it for some reason. :D
Im 32 years old and race a custom 26" klunker cruiser bmx race bike. I'm looking to get this bike though because i need something lighter with new race frame geometry! This bike looks perfect 🤩
It is a really nice complete and will not disappoint on the weight or response on the track. I’m still pushing mine hard at the expert level and it takes everything ai throw at it.
You should grab a cruiser and double up on the racing. No need to build a super expensive bike, this thing has been great and at a very reasonable price. I find at smaller races (20 motos or less) I end up choosing one or the other to ride that day because it is a quick turn around, but if there are 35+ motos I usually have enough time to recover in between cruiser and class. Also, I used the cruiser as a gauge to see what I was up against before I jumped up to Expert since cruiser is just age specific, but not proficiency. It was really helpful for me to figure out what I needed to work on before I moved up to expert. My local track also only charges $5 extra for a second class so it's only $15 total to race both bikes.
I’m a 40 year old from Maryland really considering this bike. I used to race back in the late 90s and had and still have my old race bike that’s a 1995 mongoose solution pro. I won many a race on that bike. Thinking about getting back into it.
First, you should get back into it… you will have a blast. Second, the tracks and bike geometry are both different now so be prepared for that. Third, the 24” cruiser is a fantastic complete to grab and you can often find them on FB marketplace slightly used for a deal. I think I saw one a week ago for like $350 in mint condition. I still race these same bikes (both 20” and 24”) and they ride great. Get on a bike, have fun and smile… it’s BMX.
Raced from 79-86 and have been thinking about BMX more and more lately. Got a Repop 1984 Supergoose for Christmas and now I want to pick up a 24" and hit the track. I was looking at this bike and I appreciate the review! BTW I'm 54.
That’s awesome. The Mongoose repop is a sweet ride, but if you want to race I certainly recommend grabbing the 24” Title Elite. It’s an amazing complete and with offer a lot of stability on the track. Check out my playlist for “Getting back to BMX” for some of my insights of coming back a few years ago. ruclips.net/p/PLChaljEXY0uDAZHRAdRKZOuVrOWUorJT3
24 seems to be a happy medium depending on how tall you are. I ride both my 20” and 24” on the trails. This bike is a great start and would be similar to a dirt jumper in the fact it has an aluminum frame with Chromoly bars and forks.
I was thinking about getting back into BMX and considered this bike in 20" due to the price. Don't want to dump a bunch of money in a bike yet. Luckily for me or local tracks offer loaners for you to race on and if I stick with it this might be my pick for now. Great to see Mongoose is still in the BMX mix.
Yeah loaners are a great way to test the track out and get started. The hard part is not having the bike to ride during the week. I’ve loved these two Title Elites (both 20” and 24”) and will be racing them again this season. Here is the video to my 12-month review of the 20” in case you wanted to see that bike. ruclips.net/video/38este05Kzw/видео.html
61 thinking about getting back into BMX . I have not rode BMX since the 70's got into track racing (velodrome) and road racing on bicycles like the new Orange Mongoose Title Elite 24. I think that is a new one! Can not see in the photos or info rom Mongoose if it has the Chain Tensioners or not on the new bike.
I believe the new model (grey and orange) does come with built-in chain tensioners. Worst case scenario it’s $15 for a basic set off Amazon or you can grab some used ones from a local shop for less.
36. been out of racing 12 years now but did make a redline mx24 purchase other day. So there mit be a come back tour. Crazy the price paid for entery level bike. Heck cold have gotten a proline for that price back 12 years ago
Yeah, the sport continues to push new gear and prices go with them for sure. Welcome back to the track. Take it slow and things will feel great in a short amount of time.
I replaced a pair of those forks w some butted/tapered stay strong race dvsn. I recommend a higher end fork as a worthwhile upgrade. Much lighter, much better quality control, feels like slightly less rake (more responsive), and not a lot of money. 50 Y/O rider.
Thanks for the suggestion. It’s been a blast to push this bike in its’ (mostly) stock form for a year. I do plan to plan some upgrades for next year and forks are certainly on the list.

At the time of this review (which included the upgraded wheels) the bike weighed 22.7 lbs. I did not weigh the bike with the factory wheels, however I don’t think there is much of a weight savings with the replacement wheels. My guess is the stock wheels would take the bike just under 24 lbs.
I am 48, do not want to do stunts but want a fuss free easy to maintain light cheap bike for relaxed cruise on level roads as well as an occasional sprint to get my heart beat faster. If I make the seat-post high, would it be a right bike for me ?
Yes, 100%. I have a longer seat post and seat combination I run as a warm-up tool and I use it when I take longer rides on this bike. Sometimes I take this bike on road rides with some road bikers and we do 20-30 miles (avg about 14 mph) and I can hang with them. It is light enough and I think you'll be happy with the purchase. They are both fine bikes as completes. Check to make sure the Haro comes with Chromoly forks and bars. If they are steel, I would go with the Mongoose, but if they are chromoly then you have an even comparison.
I love it. I ride both the 20” and the 24” and they have been great bikes. I rode them stock for the first year and the. Started upgrading parts as needed, or with team sponsor parts. thanks for posting. at 51 I currently ride a Polygon DJ and a HT mtb, but thinking of adding a BMX bike to the stable. Your Mongoose looks sick. Also thinking about a Chase, Any input?

I’m 5’10” and my knees don’t come close to the bars or the stem. This bike has more room than my 20” ProXXL Title Elite and the riding position is more upright too which is easier on the lower back.
You’re gonna love it. I’ll caution you to not go too fast for your skill level at first. Your motocross brain is used to moving quick, but your BMX skill will need to get solidified. Once you get a foundation, you will do really well since you are used to thinking quick.

@@TheDriveTrain Thanks! appreciate the input..
I’m 50 but I wanna know my knees gonna be banging against those handlebars if I’m 5.7
I’m 5’10” and my knees don’t come close to the bars or the stem. This bike has more room than my 20” ProXXL Title Elite and the riding position is more upright too which is easier on the lower back.
Great review. I’m 54. Lol
Never too late to grab the bike and add some smiles to your life. You'll love it... the bike, the smiles and the riding.
53 adding BMX to help with motorcross training.
You’re gonna love it. I’ll caution you to not go too fast for your skill level at first. Your motocross brain is used to moving quick, but your BMX skill will need to get solidified. Once you get a foundation, you will do really well since you are used to thinking quick.
I got a mongoose racing bike 4 sale
Good luck with the sale. Best places to sell currently are Fb marketplace, FB BMX Race Bikes group and your local bike track.
