Ehh Not for every border crossing US and Mexico is risky but its ok if its beside a road, if someone films or visits the border at a random location far from roads or buildings, that might cause trouble (rightfully so, its suspicious)
filming at border crossings is frowned upon especially if your so obvious with roof mounted cameras in plain sight. Drug mules and other criminal elements use footage to plan border crossings and use the surveillance footage in an attempt to corrupt boarder officers. Well you can obviously see and understand their concern

I’ve crossed that bridge several times, and the time someone spends crossing it ultimately depends on USCBP gets cause traffic does get backed up. And not to forget the Border Patrol inspection up the road on I-35. Plus knowing it’s Mexico, whose to stop other non Tesla suppliers from using that lane.
Just so you know your not suppose to record or even be on the phone when crossing borders that’s a big no no. They literally tell you to get off the phone 📱

Just seeing this. Ive been passing through Colombia crossing since i can remember. Im 36 now. Exactly 2 years ago, when this video was made, the Mexican side got super corrupted at that crossing. Just recently they got checked cause of the way the officials were behaving. They'll find any reason to give you a hard time with the hopes that you offer them money/a bribe to let you on your way. I got returned 6 times in a row at that crossing, drove over to laredo entry point and no problems there. Now Colombia Crossing is back to normal, for the time being. They would claim a bunch of B.S. at that time, i could make a whole video about it, but that would make me a target.

As a resident in imperial valley CA I cross daily the border of Calexico CA to mexicali MX what I have seen in mexicali are cars plates expired like California Arizona for some reason the cops of the city are cool with it but it's really weird that the police of mexicali doesn't do anything about it as long that you speak with them they are cool with it

Next time you go to Mexico, make sure you have the owner of the car with you. if you travel farther into Mexico, you’ll need a permit since your car is registered in another country. Permits usually Cost around $400, but you get the money back when you return the permit. When the red light turned on, you SHOULD of stopped, they would of asked you a few questions and let you go on your way, it’ll be easier if you had someone who spoke Spanish. And saying that the owner was in another country really makes it suspicious and they think that you’re hiding something. Just be careful out there man, if they see the car the cartels, heck even corrupt police officers could take your car and leave you stranded.

In the Mexican inspections it looks like they ran a stop light, in which you have to wait in order for the light to turn to green, which means you are free to go without interacting with the Mexican officers or red with an alarm, which means you have to stop and they will search the car for contraband

That red light stands for a “random” check for cars entering the country. There’s a department called SAT, who’s the revenue service of the Mexican government. They want to avoid nationals and foreign people to transport goods that could surpass a certain amount of money (without declaring at Customs).
You can recover deleted footage from the GoPro SD cards using SD card recovery software ($50). Once you delete the footage, do not use the card or you will overwrite the deleted files and make them unrecoverable.
You guys pretty much asked for this when you attached cameras on top if this happened in the US with expired tags they would've impounded your car lol this Mexican officers were nice to let you go.

The Tesla lane doesn't have an advante for regular Tesla cars, is for their own trucks so I don't know why it was a such as big deal just to film a video of a sign. IDK just my opinion.
They basically just crossed to the Mexican checkpoint where they were returned due to the expired sticker many people crosses used cars to sell them in Mexico without paying Mexican duties. That’s why you are not allowed to cross. The inspection is a very standard procedure. Usually takes a minute, but since you didn’t speak Spanish and the sticker was expired, they have to check to make sure you didn’t have hidden cash or weapons for the cartel.
Not only is it Tesla's own lane, the sign is in their own font!

That red light stands for a “random” check for cars entering the country. There’s a department called SAT, who’s the revenue service of the Mexican government. They want to avoid nationals and foreign people to transport goods that could surpass a certain amount of money (without declaring at Customs).
When I lived in Texas that sticker was an inspection sticker.

You can recover deleted footage from the GoPro SD cards using SD card recovery software ($50). Once you delete the footage, do not use the card or you will overwrite the deleted files and make them unrecoverable.

The Tesla lane doesn't have an advante for regular Tesla cars, is for their own trucks so I don't know why it was a such as big deal just to film a video of a sign. IDK just my opinion.

They basically just crossed to the Mexican checkpoint where they were returned due to the expired sticker many people crosses used cars to sell them in Mexico without paying Mexican duties. That’s why you are not allowed to cross.
The inspection is a very standard procedure. Usually takes a minute, but since you didn’t speak Spanish and the sticker was expired, they have to check to make sure you didn’t have hidden cash or weapons for the cartel.
They weren't picking on you, they were doing their job and were good to just let you do a U-turn.
