I’m so sorry that happened to your family. What a crazy thing! My son got into an accident in June in a 2023 Hyundai Tucson hybrid. I think my son’s car had about the same ish damage as your wife’s and his car was totaled. (Hard to really know obviously. ) With the understanding that his car is completely different the insurance adjuster said that many cars are being totaled way more than before due to all of the sensors, labor and parts. His frame wasn’t bent, low speed, no airbags went off but still totaled.
I feel like this is a very unlucky month for Tesla. We got into a hit-and-run three weeks ago on my birthday. My friend also got to hit with a Tesla. My other friend got into it.
Talk about bad luck haha!! I lost my tire going 70 a few days ago and got pretty lucky Thats awesome to hear Lincon is leaving on his mission! I wish him well!!!
Blue Tesla would have about $10k to fix included new pumper and repaint. And white tesla would maybe be $16k to fix with a new white bumper and new installed sensors. Either way thankful everyone is safe and Dan is right, you can always fix cars but never a person
Just a fun fact: Here in Europe, there are no four-way stops or right on reds. I wonder how many accidents could have been avoided with better regulations.
My guess is because he mentioned that he was trying to accelerate that it was overridden. I assume the driver has priority when accelerating and there is probably some system in place to stop it from braking when the driver is trying to accelerate
Lincoln‘s Tesla is probably going totaled cause of that quarter panel damage. My friend had a Tesla got into a crash with quarter panel damage and they totaled it out

Mannnn.. Thats unfortunate, glad to hear that Leslie, Lincoln, and the driver of that Passat are ok! I dont know if Leslie is set on Tesla as a brand, but if she doesn't.. she should consider either a Rivian or.. hell.. another Tesla. My guess for estimates is: Model X: 11,780 and Lincoln's Model Y: 15,690
I'm in the market for a used Tesla at the moment. The thing I would say that would help you sell it the most is include a way to see the footage of each "crash" and full recurrent report and data they show you as a person using your car with them. Both of these things which greatly increase the odds someone will buy it. Knowing the "crashes" were just cosmetic and that the battery is in solid condition (even better if you can show the AC/DC hours on the battery) is a great strategy. It's what I'm looking for to find in cars near me but none of these dealers know wtf they are doing with a Tesla
I recently rebuilt my similarly wrecked 2017 Tesla Model S, I would love to buy your Model X and do the same thing, could make a great video out of it!
She ran the stop sign while the Passat was in the middle of the intersection, there’s a reason he didn’t specify whether the accident was her fault or not
Based on the white Tesla it might be possible it’s totaled we didn’t see if the airbags blown or the seatbelts locked which is very important to determine that but it has frame damage and will need to be pulled as the blue Tesla will also have to be pulled and sanded down to restore the back panel and the door might have to also be replaced which might cause it to be totaled as well based on cars I’ve seen sell on auction help some helps.
Model X is gonna be about $24k-$30k, my guess will be $28,500. I’d consider it totaled with that amount of damage on the older model. But, if you do get a new vehicle, get a new Model X, plaid if she wants one! lol. Especially because of how safe new ones are. Model Y will be about $10k-$12k, gotta replace a lot to fix it. I’m assuming they’ll find more damage underneath too..
@@amazingcreator9453Fixing it will cost more than the car itself, lol. It's totaled, for sure! First, insurance will not want to pay a 30k+ value on fixing a vehicle 😆.
@@bastienx8 You need to consider whether the insurance company wants to pay for the damage to fix it. Most likely, no. Also, when fixing the car, you need to remember that all damage could lead to more damage. For example, how do you know if any other vehicle parts are not damaged? A battery could be damaged, a sensor could be damaged, etc.
@@MrBubblelone Yes other parts could be damaged, but that's the job of the repair shop. If the main frame of the car is not bent there is a solid chance it can be fixed. Other parts like the lights, sensors, bumper, windows, etc... can be replaced easily. That's why manufacturers always make a "repair manual" with every piece listed and a guide to replace them.
I would definitely recommend the newer Model X for a replacement of your X at the moment, much nicer interior/exterior build quality and way more features. As well as that, there’s a nice few new colours and it just looks a lot nicer than the pre refresh!
Tesla gonna say model x battery damaged making the car totaled. Actually both cars battery could be damaged. Really rolling the dice when a Tesla gets into even a minor accident.
It looks like the Model X is a insurance write off definetly. The Y though is definitely repairable, had someone side swipe my car before similar damage and was repaired in 2- 3 weeks.
1. resell value of both will not be high after the accidents 2. cybertruck buyers need to be waitlisted and at the moment the cheapest foundation series cybertruck is at least 80k usd to 100k usd
Man that’s so disappointing for both cars. Hopefully you get them both back soon without it costing an arm and a leg. It’s very nice to have access to a built in dashcam for sure.
A terrible double whammy for sure. With the kids having their own cars I would guess you wouldn't have much of a need for a car the size of the X. Perhaps a Hyundai Ioniq 5N might be in the cards. Gr8 vid as usual. 🚙🇺🇸⚡🔌
As someone who now works on cars, I think if you were to totally fix both cars both are likely totaled. The model y was hit on the rear quarter which is a notoriously difficult and expensive spot to fix. If the model y isn’t totaled it’s going to be very close to being totaled as it already has one accident on the carfax
The interesting thing about this is that Lincoln is already old enough and going on a church mission, for two years. Unfortunately I never went on one. In all my 64 years I never been out there in Utah. Furthest west I have driven was St. Louis Missouri, to the Stainless Steel Arch. I turned in my Chevy Bolt and got an Equinox. Seems all around more practical and has been a lot safer and smoother ride.
Honestly I feel like the model Y will be a more expensive fix, even though the damage doesn’t look as bad. For the 2017 Model X bumper replacement, I’d expect the costs to range from $3,000 to $5,000, including labor, parts, and potential repainting. For the Model Y fender and door jam damage, repairs could fall between $4,000 to $7,000, depending on the extent of damage and labor involved.
I just watched your old video, driving to Vegas to see your range. I have owned Tesla's for years. My older 2014 Model S and my current 2016 Model X, when I need an extra 50 miles on a trip, I drive no faster than 55 mph for the first hour and I get about 35 percent more range. My current 2021 Model S long range 408 miles, range is great. Now, to your current video, of course sell the blue Tesla. The white model X, get it fixed. Theres nothing like the room in the model X, unless you get another Model X with free Supercharging.
me being honest id say there's a 45% chance of repair on the white tesla as it may look fine on the outside but it looks slightly twisted on how the impact was. luckily being a low speed it hopefully is easy take off and replace but also got to remember the cost of used parts are costly and new ones especially even with the value depletion on the cars themselves. i have all the hopes and wishes and are REALLY happy your family is ok and hope things are a little less crazy for the foreseeable future.
P.s id say 12.563k on the low end and 14.65k or more on the high end for the white tesla and 7.35k on the blue one as the type of damage may look less but its on the bigger parts of the tesla / body / unibody design.
I don't know what the pricing is like in the US but at a guess I think Lincoln's will be around $15,000 because the rear quarter panel isn't designed to be a removable/replaceable part, it may get totalled because of that (here in the UK it would be totalled) Leslie's I think will be around $12,000 due to the electronics and sensors involved. The bumper itself shouldn't be too much, but there's a lot of electronics behind it
😮😮😮😮😮. Now I’ve seen it somewhere on RUclips. Somebody took their Tesla and put in Overland bumper on the front. It looked really awesome actually and then lifted it. You could probably do that with your car since you got all those places you can go overlanding
Wow. 2 accidents in one day? That was crazy. And to answer your question. Uhmm I think Leslie’s car might be totalled. That’s what I was thinking but you can have it tow to the auto body and see if they can have it fix. And I think they should be able to fix Lincoln’s car as well
The metal bumper did a great job protecting the rest of the car, as long as the mounting points for it are still straight and aligned with the rest of the car then it shouldnt be an issue for them to put a new one. my wife rearended a truck and it bent the entire crashbar and even the mounting points got bent inwards due to the impact. It was a real pain.

Model 3 highland is the best upgrade, if kids are going to college an suv isnt super needed
His frame wasn’t bent, low speed, no airbags went off but still totaled.
oh man two car crashes in one day is nuts
I"m sorry to hear of the accidents. Glad everyone is okay.
What is Lincon's mission? I'm sorry if I am being dumb, I've never heard of a mission.
He’s basically a missionary for the LDS (Mormon) church, and he’ll be one for 2 years
@@aagg436Ty for explaining

I feel like this is a very unlucky month for Tesla. We got into a hit-and-run three weeks ago on my birthday. My friend also got to hit with a Tesla. My other friend got into it.
Mat Armstrong should do a 24 hour challenge to fix the white Tesla 🤣
Leslie, Go with a new Porsche Cayenne!
Talk about bad luck haha!! I lost my tire going 70 a few days ago and got pretty lucky
Thats awesome to hear Lincon is leaving on his mission! I wish him well!!!
For a second, I thought you were skateboarding next to the Tesla like Marty McFly 😱
Regulations have nothing to do with it. You europeans on the internet always try to make everything a Europe vs America thing
Curious, then what do you do for intersections? There's no way they all have stoplights
@@FappinSteveroundabouts
Great video! You’re one of my fav RUclipsr! This is bad luck especially for Friday 13th my school bus broke down as well today
Why didn't Collision Avoidance Assist slam on the breaks when it saw the truck at 01:54
My guess is because he mentioned that he was trying to accelerate that it was overridden. I assume the driver has priority when accelerating and there is probably some system in place to stop it from braking when the driver is trying to accelerate
They have turned it off in the screen
@@anishnattamai8801 lincoln never does ha he wans o be safe
They were accelerating which had overridden the system.
Because they were having a break. (They’re brakes btw)
Gosh that sucks for Lincon. Very well handled by him. Nothing he can do and good for him on not swerving into another car
Lincoln‘s Tesla is probably going totaled cause of that quarter panel damage. My friend had a Tesla got into a crash with quarter panel damage and they totaled it out
That panel sends some signs that the frame is cooked

That's a BUMMER!!! but....thankfully no one was hurt. Leslie needs a newer one with the cameras active. I hope she goes that way. Long time subscriber, Helen

Model x : $ 125,000
Thankfully no one was hurt .
Take care Dan. 🙂
No the frame is bent u can tell from how it’s sitting
How unlucky is that!!??? I thought that my experience of having 2 crashes in 2 separate cars over 2 weeks was unusual but THIS! Wishing you the best!!!
Whambamteslacam is calling..
lol
I’ll buy it how much
I'm in the market for a used Tesla at the moment.
You may be able to get footage from Tesla by filling out info about date/time of incident and they can typically send more data
I recently rebuilt my similarly wrecked 2017 Tesla Model S, I would love to buy your Model X and do the same thing, could make a great video out of it!
Why not just fix lincoln's car and then keep it while he's away and then he can drive it when he comes home again?
It’s going to be older then it’s better to sell than for it to depreciate in value
Blue car $3,881
White car $10,670. I feel like the parts that are damaged is really expensive so both of these estimates are labor plus cost of parts.
So what happend to the white car? Since no story of how the crash happend to it?
Exactly
To me, everything indicates that she ran a stop sign.
She ran the stop sign while the Passat was in the middle of the intersection, there’s a reason he didn’t specify whether the accident was her fault or not
Based on the white Tesla it might be possible it’s totaled we didn’t see if the airbags blown or the seatbelts locked which is very important to determine that but it has frame damage and will need to be pulled as the blue Tesla will also have to be pulled and sanded down to restore the back panel and the door might have to also be replaced which might cause it to be totaled as well based on cars I’ve seen sell on auction help some helps.
you can give Lincolns car to Lesley
They prob need a 3 row suv
@@CaseyGpdx they are a family of 4. why would they need a 3rd row?
Model X is gonna be about $24k-$30k, my guess will be $28,500. I’d consider it totaled with that amount of damage on the older model. But, if you do get a new vehicle, get a new Model X, plaid if she wants one! lol. Especially because of how safe new ones are.
Model Y will be about $10k-$12k, gotta replace a lot to fix it. I’m assuming they’ll find more damage underneath too..
I think the 2017 Tesla’s totalled
Nah I think it might be good
@@amazingcreator9453Fixing it will cost more than the car itself, lol. It's totaled, for sure! First, insurance will not want to pay a 30k+ value on fixing a vehicle 😆.
@@MrBubblelone Fixing the car might cost more, but it is way less polluting than building an entire new car.
12/14 grand for both, but honestly, it's an older tesla, so it's not worth it, but for the blue one, it's worth it if there is no frame damage
did he just call a passat old? and 2017 is like practically new
2017 is not at all new..
It is in fact quite old, that would be 7 years old.
It is a 2012
Bro that gen of Passat came out over a decade ago 😭

5:35 A NEW MODEL X
If the model x get totaled, get her the newer model x, love the vids 💖
5:35 Mercedes EQS sedan
Man, what a crazzyyy coincidence! I'm sorry that happened to them, but glad they are okay.
I don't think you've ever seen a real "car wreck" before 😮.
I think you have no idea how insurance classify a car as "wreck"... It depends of it's value and the cost of repair.
That damage on the Y is worse than it looks, could easily be totaled with the quarter being damaged
I would claim insurance, repair both the cars, sell both and buy a cyber truck, definitely you need a cyber truck 😂 Glad everyone’s safe.
1. resell value of both will not be high after the accidents
2. cybertruck buyers need to be waitlisted and at the moment the cheapest foundation series cybertruck is at least 80k usd to 100k usd
Wow crazy. Glad everyone is safe. If she liked her x then she should maybe get the new 2024 Model X.
I actually consider it a minor miracle that anyone gets through the day alive.
Glad all are okay.
we want this on wham bam tesla cam
Working for a car parts supplier in the UK, I don't think the white one will be written off. It looks repairable as long as the parts are available.
Seems all around more practical and has been a lot safer and smoother ride.
i am so glad everyone is okay hope they get fixed soon!
The Linconl imitation is hilarious 😂
What year is the Y, does it have FSD, any other upgrades? Milage, price you're asking?
If the white telsa is totalled, get a spyker, fun cars and definitly one of a kind!
me being honest id say there's a 45% chance of repair on the white tesla as it may look fine on the outside but it looks slightly twisted on how the impact was. luckily being a low speed it hopefully is easy take off and replace but also got to remember the cost of used parts are costly and new ones especially even with the value depletion on the cars themselves. i have all the hopes and wishes and are REALLY happy your family is ok and hope things are a little less crazy for the foreseeable future.
P.s id say 12.563k on the low end and 14.65k or more on the high end for the white tesla and 7.35k on the blue one as the type of damage may look less but its on the bigger parts of the tesla / body / unibody design.
Glad everyone is safe and sound.
I don't know what the pricing is like in the US but at a guess I think Lincoln's will be around $15,000 because the rear quarter panel isn't designed to be a removable/replaceable part, it may get totalled because of that (here in the UK it would be totalled)
Leslie's I think will be around $12,000 due to the electronics and sensors involved.
And I think they should be able to fix Lincoln’s car as well
Just glad you guys are OK
The metal bumper did a great job protecting the rest of the car, as long as the mounting points for it are still straight and aligned with the rest of the car then it shouldnt be an issue for them to put a new one. my wife rearended a truck and it bent the entire crashbar and even the mounting points got bent inwards due to the impact. It was a real pain.
Hope they both ok good luck to Mr Lincoln for his mission
If u cant repair Leslie’s car then pleaseeeee get the new model x ❤ I love ur vids dan thanks for all the effort!!!!
If you’re going to get a new car, get the Volvo eX 90 it’s amazing
