Wow, I just watched video of the actual implosion and I came across your video. I had no idea the Tropicana had been shut down to be replaced by the stadium. I stayed at the Tropicana on my very first visit to Las Vegas 43 years ago with a group of my friends. It’s amazing how this video brought back all the great memories I have that have come to light just by watching the implosion video and your video. Thank You for your video and a sad but wonderful way to start my day to remember that fun trip I shared with my friends in 1981.
@davidhowell1471.. Nice memories.. Great comment of your first memory in Vegas from 1981! I think Dan Tanner was still around town back then filming some "Vegas" TV shows!

Good for you! How fun is that? The last person to check out of the Tropicana! You did a great job with your video and loved your concern for all of the employees and where the go from here. The housekeeper that worked there for 35 years was so loyal all of those years. So glad she will be getting a years severance pay. She really does deserve it! I don't remember if you said you were going to stay and watch the implosion or not. Ever since my grandson was old enough to have Thomas the train videos and and train sets he loved to crash them. He still likes to crash them with his friends. His little sister likes to watch them and now she plays with his old little trains and crashes them too. I'm not sure if he told my grandson that he had to go to work with him today because his Mom had to work today and said they had to drive to Las Vegas today (which he does have to go out of state sometimes) or if he told him he was going to take him to watch it get "blown up," but I I'm sure he had a blast watching it. Before I saw your video I watched another one of the implosion. It was like the best fireworks display ever! Later when the structure started collapsing it brought back memories of 9/9/201 .😢Hank you for an excellent video!
it's wild that VIDEOBOB also stayed here the last night and was told by the clerk he was the last to "officially" check out and captured it on film! LOL I wonder how many others were scammed and told the same?
If you all don't know why it's being demolished so basically the Oakland Athletics baseball team has playing in a dump stadium for the past like 20 years or so they need a new stadium however for some reason, Oakland couldn't get them one and so now they're relocating just like the raiders did and the Tropicana owner was working to replace it so the new land will be a baseball stadium and a new casino
Oh god, you know nothing about the situation. Oakland is more than willing to build the A’s a new stadium, and give them ownership, but John Fisher doesn’t care. He’s destroying the team.
Great video Dan, I'm a Vegas local here. It's funny, but I know that exact spot where you parked your car in the garage. As you exit the front of the hotel front doors, start walking left (north) the sidewalk kind of snakes around, then there is like a narrow space the sidewalk goes between the hotel building and the backside of the parking garage. Then a quick turn walking to the right and it takes you right into the bottom floor of the parking. Then your car was all the way to the right up against the wall and outfront was Las Vegas Blvd with Excalibur on the opposite side.I used to go to the Tropicana when it wasn't very busy and park my little scooter exactly in the same parking spot your car was at. Then I would just hang out there and drink down a few beers before going in to play some Craps and Blackjack, lol.. Which brings me to another conversation. It's funny that you spent a whoping $600 on the hotel room but you didn't want to spend even a couple $10 hands of Blackjack or Craps, lol. C'mon bro it's Vegas! You gotta at least try some Blackjack or Craps. But it was good you spent a lot of time inspecting your $600 room. Hehe, it made for a very entertaining video.
