Oh my goodness! I just fixed my washer by following this video. I’m 68 and a grey-haired old lady with limited vision but I did it!!!!!! I figured I had nothing to lose by trying ( I’m big on trying new things) and if I failed I’d call a repairman. Thank you SOOOOOOO much! You just saved me $$$$$$!

Dude…so glad my wife found your video. God bless you! It’s funny how in our old house we had a simple washer and dryer that came with the house, we lived there 10 yrs and never a problem. we move in to a new house and buy “better” appliances and have nothing but problems. these companies know what they are doing…i am grateful people like you are out there helping others not be taken advantage of. Keep up the good work!

That's awesome! I agree. The older appliances are much more reliable! A Kenmore/Whirlpool Washer from the late 90s will probably outlast any of the new stuff (despite being almost 30 years old!). Thanks for supporting the channel!

Thank u exactly what was wrong with mine. Had for about 18 months and went to do laundry today and wouldn’t turn on. To a non experienced person all this took about 45min- 1hr. Trickiest part is when u take screws out and pull the top forward u need to wiggle back about 1/4 inch to undo the clips.I paused the video and looked which way the hooks were. Video is excellent

Fixed it with your help! THANK YOU very much. We had barely any corrosion on those contacts, but scrubbed them clean and voila! A tip for all your viewers - Maytag's instruction booklet says to keep the lid OPEN after washing until the basket is dry. We never did that, until now of course. That dampness probably contributed to the corrosion.

Warranty people said no one around me could fix it so they gave me a gift card for $799
Cleaned the board up with some alcohol and it turned right back on 👏🏻👏🏻
I used affresh washer machine cleaner a couple weeks back and I think the steam sent it over the edge after a couple years of collecting moisture

Great info! The secondary pads where some alternate connector was included in the PCB layout was corroded as you suggested. The corrosion seemed to be corrupting the serial data line! @@DuctTapeMechanic But now I keep getting the FL code. Which wasn't ever happening before. My washer will fill up, then stop, flash FL and drain, then shut off. I tried running the diagnostics, but from the code it gave me, it says the washer load is too much, even though there aren't that much clothes inside. I'm stumped. From what I've been seeing, I guess it means I need a water inlet valve replacement, even though that hasn't been an issue until all this happened. Any advice on what the actual issue might be?

I couldn’t find that little slot where you clean of the corrosion but I used my hair blow dryer to take out all the dirt/dust. Great video! Unfortunately this fix did not resolve my situation, so far I've had to disassemble the entire top piece to reveal the PCB. Which is a very thin membrane with traces on both sides and the conformal coating that it comes with is so thin that the steam from hot water and bleach has gotten in there and has caused some of the black traces to turn black and some to even drip through with green corrosion and cross. I've used alcohol and q-tips to remove all the loose build up which even removes some of the white coating. I did get a promising result where the lights came on for a few minutes. I'm going to try to repair some of the traces, if that does the trick I will have a RUclips channel on my own and I will tag you in it! Thank you

Thank you very much. I unplugged mine to clean behind it and when I plugged it back in it initially lit up but as I was scrolling through settings I noticed no sound so I tapped the audio settings and it went blank. I tried what you recommended but to no avail. Would you happen to know the part number for that part you were cleaning with the alcohol.

The interface board/panel is one part. The number should be on a sticker on the inside of the panel

Great video thanks for the info. This worked for me the first time, a month later the washer failed again with an F2 E1 error. I took apart the console and cleaned several contacts that had corrosion in addition to the visible one you cleaned.

Thanks for watching glad you liked it! If the problem keeps happening perhaps look into covering the opening with electric grade silicone.

Thanks for the great video. I opened up the lid and the contacts were corroded but after I cleaned them the washer still didn't start. Any thoughts on how to determine whether I need a new interface vs. control board? Thanks.

More then likely the corrosion is somewhere else on the interface board sometimes they have to be taken all the way apart and cleaned. Is the machine throwing any codes? If the control board is flashing green light it is most likely ok.

I have this exact washer. What can I check when the washer comes on but water isn’t coming out. I changed the part with the 4 cylinders that the hoses attach to. What else can I check?
