Long story short, don't give up, this works! After initially cleaning my contact pads with alcohol pad, I was disappointed it didn't work. I searched Internet for more troubleshooting and spent 4 hours trying to run diagnostics and follow repair suggestions to no avail. (My controls would light up but would shut down just when "sensing" indicator light came on.) I was ready to give up and order a new replacement control panel, but decided to come back to this video and read through every comment in case I missed something. I did! One person stated their contacts were so corroded they had to scrub away at them for 30 minutes. So I went back one last time and even used a tiny flathead screwdriver with the alcohol pad to clean them. Finally I started seeing that gunk come off. I just about cried when I put it all back together and it ran with no problems! So don't be afraid to use a little pressure if you have a lot of corrosion. I'm definitely getting the sealant to protect my washer from future corrosion.

Thank you and I’m glad to hear you were successful! I tried for hours and even had my Dad try with his special gadgets. We couldn’t get it clean enough to work. It stinks bc it’s just 5 moths past my 5 yr warranty! They don’t make anything to last any more. It’s sad.

Thank you! I have the Maytag Bravo XL and I was on the phone with whirlpool, who owns Maytag, and they were telling me the washer wasn't under warranty. This issue occurred only a year and a half after I bought it. Anyway, I searched for the symptoms, found this vid, followed the steps, cleaned the sensors and all is working again! Took me 15 minutes. Your effort is much appreciated!

An appliance repairman suggested to my mother that she needed to replace the control board and a few other peripherals with a total cost of about $500. She was just about to buy a new washer when I ran across your video. Thank you very much for providing an easy and inexpensive fix! As for Maytag, shame on you...

I want to thank you for providing us with this tutorial. My Maytag is less than 2 years old and I was stunned when the panel was unresponsive. After researching to see what the possible failures could be knowing the warranty would not cover anything but the drive motor and the basket, I came across your video. I followed your instructions and cleaned all the contacts on the panel best I could as you suggested. It worked like a charm but more importantly it amazes me that smartest and brightest who designed that board we soooo stupid not to seal the contacts. Anyways I wanted to say THANK YOU for taking the time to share this video as you literally save me basically the cost of a new washer. ESPECIALLY in 2021 where you can't get any appliance any time soon.

After reading many comments I find it actually suspicious that many are commenting "less than 2 yrs old" with the SAME issue.
Mine also is less than 2 yrs old.
I worked in the service department of a Dodge dealership about 6 yrs ago and I haven't trusted anything with a computer since!

@@wendyc1902 Same here. Less than 2 years old. And the fact that these copper leads are intentionally left exposed and positioned so close together with no obvious function other than to be exposed to the inevitable moisture and humidity just long enough to corrode and short - is that not suspicious to anyone else? This looks to me like it was intentional, either to encourage more costly repairs, to sell replacement control boards, or to get people to totally replace the washer every few years or so. I'm disgusted, and I won't be buying Maytag ever again. It's sad to see how far the once-great brand has fallen.

Thank you, was quoted nearly $400 and a back order delay for a new front panel. In addition, $100 for the service call. Tech actually suggested I just buy new as I'd be in 550 after taxes on a 750 washer. All I had was a lens cleaner tissue, but it evaporated quickly and was dirty afterwards. So enjoyable when the Power button lit up and signal tones followed. Thank you Ben!!!!!! PS, have ordered the silicone sealant to follow-up this repair.

You saved me allot of heart ache and money! About 4 months ago, my washer was not even 2 years old, I followed your instructions, found corrosion exactly where you pointed out; I cleaned it, and It fired right up. I didn't however apply the silicon coating as you recommended thinking the problem wouldn't reappear for a couple of more years....wrong. It's been about 4 months, and it got an error code today, then no power again. I repeated the cleaning and It fired right up. I'm ordering the silicon today and will apply it. Thanks!

You just saved me $800 of service repair and parts. Maytag sent a technician from Via Appliances. The guy didn't even open the panel. He said he connected his laptop and found the diagnostics indicating the circuit board and another piece of electronics faulty and said it will cost me $800 for parts and labor. I then looked up this channel and fixed it by just cleaning the circuit connections using Q tips and rubbing alcohol. Thank you so much, really appreciate it.

Excellent video. I brought this Maytag washer two years ago and knew this shouldn't have a major failure. I removed the upper back panel / screws and used a Q-tip with 70% Rubbing Alcohol to clean contacts as shown in the video. I let it dry, reinstalled the screws/panels, turned on the power and it works! You saved me hundreds of dollars in repair bills.

Thats the same exact issue im having which is difficult to troubleshoot because not everyone's complaint is as "simple" as yours and mine in online searches.
My washer was given to me practically brand new less than a year ago because the previous owners got tired of waiting for a replacement agitator to come in, bought a new washer and gave this one to my son.
I was grateful but reluctant to hook it up because of this very reason 😒

Thank you so much for the tutorial! We have been fixing up our new home, and when the washer wouldn't start, I was dreading the hassle of not having a functioning washing machine, having to find time to try to fix it, and potentially having to spend more money. I found the tutorial online, and my husband and I tried it out right away. I was convinced it was going to work because you made it look so easy, and it was! Like others commented, our model had 5 screws, not 3, but that wasn't a big deal. We are just so happy it's fixed. We have a load in there right now!

Thank You so much Ben! My Daughters Maytag washer appeared to have died. No display what so ever. The best I could figure out by watching other videos on RUclips was that the Interface was the issue and it would cost $450 in Canadian funds to purchase it. She decided to instead buy a new washer and throw that one away. Then, I came across your video and told her about it. She told me that the new washer wasn't going to arrive at her house for two weeks so we thought lets give your fix a try. It only took ten minutes to do what you said to do in your video and it came back to life. We cleared the code in the display and it works like new. She canceled the new washer saving over a $1000. She could not be happier. You Sir are a Hero!

Thank you! This fix worked for me. We have the same Bravos XL as shown in your video, but had 3 extra screws to remove, as others have said. On ours, the only one of the copper contacts that was corroded was one of the little rectangular ones in the row of 4, but it was totally black from corrosion, like an old copper penny. Rubbing alcohol and Q tips got a little of the corrosion off, but it took quite a while and my hand was cramping. So I took it to the next level and used a small square of #600 wetordry sandpaper and light pressure. That got it shiny copper in no time. I coated everything with the bottle of silicone sealant you linked to and reassembled it. Reassembling the top was a little tricky. I fired her up and she is working fine and doing a load of wash. You saved us hundreds of dollars, thank you!

I just wanted to extend a HUGE, WARM & heartfelt "Thank you"! The day of Thanksgiving 2020 our washer would not power on. About a year ago we had the front panel replaced under warranty just as it was about to expire. Fast forward to yesterday (out of warranty now), the machine would not power on. In the midst of a Pandemic, straining funds and future uncertainty, a $500+ replacement washer was not an easy task at this time. I ran across this video and followed it to a tee. Uncertain if this was the issue or not, I followed along step by step. I can't even tell you the shock my wife and I had that once we plugged in the machine to the wall, all the panel lights come on. What a glorious shock & surprise!!!!!!!! So, to the very kind stranger who posted this video, our family can't thank you enough for your contribution here to help others. I sure wish I could show my gratitude for what you have done to assist us in these concerning and uncertain times. From our family to yours and all you love, have a happy & SAFE Holiday season....

It would Start the timer but after a minute of "sensing" it wouldn't run water or continue the cycle. It would just shut down. The "Lid Locker" light would blink and the "Done" light stayed on. After watching your video I was able to fix it in about 10 minutes. Now there is a plate on the back that needed to be removed. It's on the back of the interface housing. The video didn't mention taking this off so I figured I'd let you know that information wasn't available but once I started working on it, that became obvious. Maybe someone else may not understand so an edit my help that out. Other than that, thanks for your help. You're a life saver!

My Bravo MVWB765FW2 would not power on when the power switch was depressed. This happened immediately at running a cleaning cycle. I was contemplating having to replace my washer and dryer set as a control panel plus service call was going to run 75% of the cost of a new washer. Your video was very helpful. He was good enough to tell me that I might as well just get a new machine. So I went and got a scratch and dent from Lowes for cheap enough but then I found this video. But your video is super clear and easy to follow and we only wish we had found this video sooner. Thank you for saving us the money on a repair person and the time going to a laundry mat!

So, I did the cleaning multiple times and it didn’t work. I left the washer unplugged overnight and ordered a new interface panel, $240.00 on Amazon. The next morning the damn thing began working, again. So maybe it took the alcohol a while to sink in and dry. Cancelled the interface and will be applying the coating. I guess you need patience. I wonder if the time unplugged allowed the software to clear and reset. Idk.

Great video. Very Helpful. My Maytag washer was turning off in the rinse cycle. It eventually threw a E3F6 then E2F6 code. We cleaned the contacts but didn't have any sealant on hand so we hoped that was enough. It wasn't. It still stopped on the rinse cycle using hot water. Once it was sealed then it has ran perfectly for several cycles. So Thank You for this video!

Maytag knows better. The board should be coated because it's near water, this is intentionally bad, or intentionally evil. I'm a mechanical engineer who designs circuit boards for things on boats.

My model is a little different, whether older or newer I’m not sure, probably older? The writing on the left of the face is different, and I had to remove 2 screws attaching the face to a metal backplate to get it off. Other than that it was the same, and cleaning these areas fixed my problem.
    Thank you very much.
I will say I was ready to call it with this washer, it has not been impressive. I’m on my 3rd door because the metal door fasteners simply torque against the plastic door frame, eventually breaking the plastic. At 250$ a pop I’m done replacing them. I’m happy your tutorial helped me limp the thing along a little longer! I was not excited to need to buy a new washer right now!

We just had the board replaced exactly a year ago for free by Maytag even though it was not under warranty. It wouldn’t turn on today and this worked! It was a little tricky as it has more than 3 screws to remove, other than that a pretty easy fix. No time to order the coating but will do so for next time.

  • @phil562

    This worked.
I spoke too soon. After doing the repair described below, it washed 2 loads and quit on the third. I can't get it to power on at all now. Looks like it's done.
    ____________________
It started with my drain pipe overflowing, not sure why that happened, but I ended up moving the machine and checking the drain. No problem. After then trying to run it to test the drain, it wouldn't start. Which led me to this video.
I only had one small black copper pad with corrosion. Alcohol and scrubbing, and a little bit of mild scraping with an exacto knife point (very little) cleaned up the pad. It didn't start, but was acting differently. Patience.
Then after about 2 minutes, plugged it in again and it's working perfectly.
I have no idea why that corrosion would cause this issue. Nothing comes in contact with those pads that I could see. But the fix worked! Thanks!
I'm suspicious of the manufacturer for not coating the board. It's not expensive to do so, and in my line of work, we coat every board exposed to the atmosphere, much less a damp steamy washing machine interior! But rather than be paranoid, I'll assume incompetence. At least it works again.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I can't express it enough for helping me out by posting this video on this particular fix for the Bravos XL washing machine! It was EXACTLY as you pointed out. Those little solder(?) spots, or whatever you call them, were very stained on the back of my interface panel. I cleaned them as best I could with alcohol and Q-tips like is shown. The machine started up right away!! However, the one unfortunate caveat for me is that they are so badly stained that I am sure this will probably be a temporary fix. I may be in the market for a new interface panel in the not to distant future. But, for now, the problem is fixed! Thanks again!
