Thank you for the very informative video. I have been struggling with the ul (unbalance mode) for quite a while. And I don’t have the means to purchase a new washer. Or even hire a repair person. You’ve saved me.
Wow thank you so much for this video!! I was almost going to cry because I thought I was going to need a new washer and I can not afford it at the moment. Thank you I did this and it worked !!! You are a life saver!! 😅😅😊
thank goodness I found this video. It help me found a way to spin dry our clothes. Our Maytag Bravo XL consistently failed with 14 minutes before completion (I believe right before the spinning occur, and the code is uL). I find this code to be generic and I'm still unable to pinpoint the root cause. I had a repairman came out and replaced an official Maytag suspension rod and that didn't help.
Thanks. I have the same short-lived machine doing the same thing, throwing UL error everytime toward end of cycle. I can't afford a repairman or new machine. I really appreciate your video.
Woke up this morning, I have the same washer that said ( UL ) it was a small load. I did everything you did and it drained, thank you so much for this video. Now I need to test it, to see if the problem was taken care of.
The least you can do is unplug the washer for a minute or so, it is run by a computer and rebooting it may correct everything, this is what I did and it works in my case, hope it helps....
These washers typically have a small battery to retain cycle settings in the event of power loss. Unplugging the unit does not typically reset the computer.
Great video I have the same problem where the tub spins violently just like in the video I did replace the suspension rods but continue to have the same problem what do you think I should do?
You may want to double check the rods you got and make sure they were actually better. I made that mistake and purchased bad ones on Amazon. Check out this other video: ruclips.net/video/PQ775cxL4ek/видео.html
Thanks you sooo much.. I have an older version ( was given to me)and I tried to opened it to see if it was the springs etc. Couldn't get it to open because of rusted bolts... but this helped a lot so I didn't have to have clothes in the drier for multiple times lol... thank you
Where did you find the new bearings kit? I replaced my stabilizer rods with still the ul code. So next I’m going to do the bearings. Mine is a MVWB980BW0 tho
Hello thank you for this. We can use our washer in a pinch now, but I still need to fix it for good. When going into maintenance mode in the video, it flashes"H94" and you mention it goes through error codes. Mine has the exact same code. Do you know what this is? I am thinking of replacing the bearing but want to make sure it is not an electronic problem (motherboard) that will make it worth just throwing the machine away.
Your video was very helpful. The only one on RUclips to address my issue for the same type of washer. If you replaced the suspension (also did that), and the bearings including replacement spindle (possibly my next step), did you ever managed to find out what the issue with your washer was? Or are continuing to manually play with the spin cycle every time? Thank you.
Am getting an OL code what is the that for ? but same thing it leaves the clothes wet, so go into diagnostics and do the spin and drain like you showed, but new loads keeps stopping at OL. Any susggestions
I had this problem with mine and the way Got my washer to stop working. Is level my washer by fixing the problem with the hobble Legs on bottom. The only way I got it to stay level was taking the legs out and adding a locking nut to the leg and when putting the legs back in is level the washer with the level going across the top of tub not lid once level i used lock nut to tighten against the washer frame. also laid sum rubber matts on bottom of legs to help the shaking on floor. The legs on washer are the worst thing about the washer.
I was getting an LD error code on my washer. I took out the drum, removed a hand towel from the tub and cleaned out all the hoses, checked the pumps for obstructions, and while at it, replaced the bearings and shaft since they were rusty. I'm still getting an LD error and when running diagnostics, I got an F32 error. Do you have any idea what may be going on? The washer is not draining and making a gurgling sound.
We have BRAVOS XL that keeps having UL code show on spin cycle and still shows after trying to rebalance clothing. We have never had any work done purchased new about 8-10 yrs ago. My husband is NOT handy is ready to purchase new washer. Any suggestions I can try? What is usually cost to have technician come over to fix unit?
So what's the resolution when every load I run kicks out a uL code with 14 minutes remaining on the wash cycle? I don't think it's a diagnostic issue at that point.
@@gbar2093 I replaced a couple of parts and I thought I had it working but I'm still getting the problem with some loads (not all). I did find the repair sheet that was with the unit and am able to run the last part of the cycle manually to get it to finish. But that's not really the best long term solution. I'm probably going to just replace it at this point rather than spend any more money.
May I ask how much it costs to get the rods replaced by a repairman? Just a guess, and I'm in Texas. I hated my machine before the OL code. I can't wash blankets in it and no control within the cycle. I know now with your video, but the old fashion dial where you could click it to any part within the cycle was much better.
I got the exact machine and its beeping and going crazy. Cant get it to work. Everytime i try to start, it resets and beep beep. We unplug it for a while and same problem
So Mine shows the Ld code on it. I've the drain pump and it still will not drain. Even when doing this that you explained in the video. What else could it be?
As far as I know, the DL means it wobbles too much. It is very strange to me you'd see it so soon and before it even needs to spin fast. I really have no idea. Good luck.
In order to drain and spin only, you should try this... Select "rinse/drain & spin", then DESELECT "extra rinse", than start the cycle. It should not add water when you do this.
My washer is throwing the UL code and nothing has worked. After being gone for a week I did a load and the washer is working fine. I ordered the suspension rods and am still waiting on them to be delivered. My question is if the washer is washing fine after not using for a week is the problem the rods or really in the board?
it could many things. I ended up changing a sensor, bearings (twice) and the rods. Check out my other video on how to check your new rods are actually good. I fell in the trap of installing bad ones and ended up replacing the bearing a second time when I didn't actually need to, plus the sensor which I didn't need to. ruclips.net/video/PQ775cxL4ek/видео.html
These Maytag/Whirlpool washers all seem the same. I watched many RUclips video showing me how to do it. I recommend you watch a few and see if you are up to it. Definitely recommend the 2x4 and carjack method to get removed. You'll find several video that explain that.
I did this on my Bravos XL MVWB980BG and it worked. My question for you though does this "fix" the problem or do you have to do this every time? By reading the comments here it seems that this is a big problem on this machine. I'm trying to decide whether to ditch it for a new one or not.
I've had to do it once in the past year after doing the various hardware fixes mentioned in my other videos. It is a good back pocket fix to drain it when it happens "occasionally". If it is happening every time you probably have the bearing going bad or the suspension rods.
Is it the exact same? Mine is MVWB725BW0. And you have a 'Water Save' button that doesn't lock it? All I can think of is it could be slightly different. Can you find your service manual? If you can lift your washer up, it should be taped on the back of the front pane. That is where mine was.
You probably have a new machine by now but I'm stuck with the Bravo XL. Your spin fix works but I have to do this ever single time. IS there anything in your pamphlet that instructs how to reset it? If you still have that instruction sheet, can you photocopy and email me it?
No. Once I found the issue with the new suspension rods I got, it no longer happened. Actually it did once due an actual unbalanced load. And instead of rebalancing and running it again, I jus did this drain trick. Check out the last video in the play list I created to know what I mean rods: ruclips.net/video/pV4gBGhBOEg/видео.html
Fyi if you replaced the suspension rods and the UL code still appears with the tub shaking, did you use OEM parts??? Suspension rods that are not genuine to whirlpool/ Maytag may still give you issues because they may not be built to the original factory standards. Try putting in new OEM suspension rods.
I don't know much about the dL code except that it means it is having troubles with the lid/door lock. If put your machine into manual maintenance mode you should be able to lock and unlock by pressing the 'water save' button. So you can test it, but I don't know the best way to fix.
I tried this & got it to work on the first try. I had it spinning on low & all was well. I stopped it to check how dry the clothes got & I realized I needed them to dry more... so I tried it again & I got the F51 code... & now that’s what I get every time. Help. Lol
F51 means it is having troubles draining. You might have trip that error code and now it is show up in the history when you put it in maintenance mode. I thought it just flashed all the past error codes and then it went to 000. But maybe you have to push the button one more time. Let us know if you figure it out.
I read my manual and it says it will store up to 4 fault codes. Just continue to press the same button to roll through them. And then once more to get to the 000. You should then be in manual maintenance mode.
I'm not sure. Sometime very little comes out if the clothes isn't that wet, but that was the only reason I would do it. I was able to finally fix my problem, so I have not had to do this now for some time. I got a few other videos linked to this one in a play list if you wanted to see some of my other things I tried. My issue ended up being bad bearers and bad suspension springs (that I purchased first to try fixing my issue).
Well what I mean is there are no clothes in it at all and about 4 inches of water, when I tried to do the trick to turn on the pump to drain it, it just makes that humming noise and doesn’t empty. My daughter was washing clothes and I guess it was trying to drain and then just started to and then made this loud humming noise that wouldn’t stop until we unplugged it. We’ve tried to call people locally to help but can’t find anyone. I have tried to remove the agitator plate thinking maybe it’s stopped up but I can’t get the nut to come off.
If u want to get rid of ul, make sure it's perfectly level. Then springs. (Check tub and make sure it's not wobbling in it's hole) Then stator. Then control board. Then new machine. In that order.
It is just a workaround I found since there no drain option. Eventually I replaced the bearings and got some quality suspension rods. Problem solved (for now)
we have had our washer almost 9 years now , it was good for about 5 years. after that , i have replaced the shaft 2 times and the bearings 5 times . now the rotor position sensor is in need of replacing , also it shows ul about 15 minutes left on the power wash cycle. these washers are poorly engineered for sure .
Yeah, sounds about right. I'm at around 6 years now. It needed the bearings, shaft, and suspension rods replaced. I did these replacements twice but they only needed to be done once. I just got some bad replacement suspensions rod and it messed me up and I thought my bearing kit was installed incorrectly or was defective. I also had to replace a valve assembly due to a dripping issue. And lastly I also replaced the position sensor but I don't it was needed--just troubleshooting.
@@falk0069 hi ya i did that sensor no change piece of crap still throws the ul code . i have question when you pulled your drum out was it half full of water ? mine when i have the inner basket/drum it has water in it . i was wondering if this was intentional or do i have trapped water.
Ok.. Crazy question... Have the same UL ask the time. Yesterday washed a comforter and 4 pillow cases. When done.. Only 3 pillow cases. Searched my entire house thinking I dropped it. Looked everywhere. I know I put four in there. Have you ever heard of something going above and going into the side?
@@alison_the_riot Absolutely. I've heard many folks complaining of clothes getting stuck between the tub and basket and causing UL balance issues. I bet you are right and it is stuck there. If you watch more UL code videos I'm sure you will find examples of this.

we have had our washer almost 9 years now , it was good for about 5 years. after that , i have replaced the shaft 2 times and the bearings 5 times . now the rotor position sensor is in need of replacing , also it shows ul about 15 minutes left on the power wash cycle. these washers are poorly engineered for sure .

Down in the hood
Bearings in that particular washer is trash!!! I've been through 2 washers in 10 years!!
totally agree. Also need to be careful with the cheap replacement suspension rods. They made things even worse for me.
