- This is a video explaining why your carburetor is leaking and how to stop it with a small adjustment. (for 49cc bikes)
By bending the forks on the carburetor downward (not too much), you can stop the gas leak. If you make this adjustment and the bike does not start, you have bent them too much and gas is not filling the carburetor bowl up enough. You must then bend them upward a little to allow more gas to fill the bowl. To see how much gas the bowl is getting, turn the white gas flow knob sideways to shut off the gas flow. Then unscrew the bowl center screw to allow the gas to pour out. collect this in a container to measure. If little gas pours out, you know the forks are bent too much and there is not enough gas entering the bowl to start the engine.

I must have taken the carb apart 20 times or more trying to understand why fuel was coming out the overflow tube in son's pocket bike. Ordered new carb thought problem would be fixed. STILL leaking from overflow. Was dumbfounded until coming across your video quick 2 minute fix, bent forks a bit and no more leaking 😎 thanks for the video saved alot of people a bunch of time and money 👌
My bicycle motor has same carb. Leaks . Engine fairly new. I bent the part like explained in this video, and it worked! Brake cleaned carb on outside ,test drove. Still drives great, performance not affected. Parked it, no leak found. Even hour later. Btw, I didn't see any other comment saying they tried the fix.

Good advice but another thing to watch out for is installing the float fork upside down. I did that accidently after cleaning the needle valve and although it ran great and made a ton of power it leaked badly at idle through the overflow tube. And if this fix of your happens to make your engine run rich (read from a previous comment) just put a nitrous kit on it to lean it out. WIN WIN! Cool vid man, keep having fun!

thanks for the tip. Hopefully it will work. Either this or possibly the fuel cut off is the problem. I don't seem to be getting fuel. Then when it's in the off position, fuel runs and I can start her up.

The flaot has a ridge on top of one side. Which way up should it be..ridge facing down toward bowl or top towards jet
If you are flooding out your carb, youll have an improper mixture going into your combustion chamber and youll basically drown out your plug. It will run way to rich, if you can get it to run at all. Make sure that your intake passage for your fuel is clear and make sure that your float moves very very freely. If it does not move freely, your bowl will stay empty, or it will overflow, both making your engine unable to run, or at least properly.

i did this and after 10-15mins gas starts to come out of the overflow tube. did i not adjust it correctly? please help!
how can you tell when you have done it enough..because im guessing if i over bend it, the the float will cause the valve to close too early without the bowl filling up?
i just bent my forks yesterday and it didnt work it still leaks but im going to take it apart again and check the float needle. im still learning about these engines. i work on small engines like push mowers and riding mowers. i dont know what to do if i cant get it to stop leaking, like i said i bent my forks.
Im trying to fix one now and am very inexperienced. Please help with this question. I just put a new line on. That white tube connected to the carborater. Where does the other side of the line connect to? It doesnt just hang freely does it?

Also if it dont start up you could hold the throttle open all the way and spary some carburetor start up fluid and then you fire it up and it should turn on

Why do some carb likethat have a hole in the chose slide and others not? Shouldnt they have one? Otherwise how is it going to get gas with the choke slide or blocker completely closed.

what if my air filter is just full of fuel after i have driven but it does not leak any fuel its just full of fuel after a drive. does that mean its ok ?

+Dastardly84 Started leaking again. I shook the whole ATV and it stopped. I guess the float got stuck. Now to finally sell this thing.

I need help don't know anything about bikes, bought little orion 49cc 2 stroke,for my 6 year old for Xmas last year,he loved it but was always hard to start then after few days it stopped running,took it to shop they said water in carburetor?Was fine again for a week?Took back to shop (still under warranty) they said guy wasnt there, probably same problem water?wouldn't take it,flogged us girls off,no help☹️ no bike no fun, the neighbor(only guy around i know)checked spark plug, sprayed it with some stuff,it ran for few hours not well,was slow wouldn't rev properly couldn't ride it, tried again few weeks later noticed after finally getting it to start now it's leaking petrol from under this silver thing in the middle of the bike kinda near the motor?Is that the carby?Does it have a gasket at bottom? It's not leaking from hoses but between 2 bits of metal,they sit one above other,one of the pieces is curvy like what corrugated iron looks like, the gas is leaking between there, took back to shop again! Got even more of a run around was told guy that fixs not there, away for while,so tried to get a refund no go manager not there? Then asked if I paid the difference get the 100cc bigger one as advertised, was told none in stock no more coming in!? Getting pretty mad but what could I do? So now I'm stuck with a bike my son has grown out of in the year I've had it, it's been sitting unused for months, im to scared to take it apart probably wouldn't be able to put it back together & i don't have the $ to take it to be fixed, mechanics here want $90+gst just to look at it!? Sucks being a girl that has rip me off across the top of my forhead!! Could someone please take pity be a hero & put up a video of how to fix this,I haven't found a vid that's got the same problem or even the same bike with parts in same place as mine & needs to show everything on what you need to do from start to finish to show how to fix it, it's an Orion japanese 49cc 2 stroke its orange & black there used to be a lot for sale on trade me but I purchased mine from savebarn if someone could please put up a vid if you can understand what the problem is that would be awesome, I'd be forever grateful ☺️☺️😉thank you, I'll keep checking you tube & googling hopefully will find someone may be your video? Mine was leaking like crazy i took the carbrateur apart didn't do anything else put it back togeather and now it stopped leaking ?? Maybe something was just loose or something I don't know but glad I got it fixed

If you bend them too down it doesn't allow enough gas in the bowl and the engine stalls after a short while because the gas is consumed faster than it gets in.
my gas is leaking from my carb right into my airfilter on my taotao 50...i just replaced the carb what is the problem?

Mine has been doing the same. I found that the gas shut off valve that is inline between the carb and the gas tank is not shutting off gas flow from the gas tank with the engine off. This valve should allow gas to flow to the carb with the engine running only. I ordered a new valve but until it gets here I just pinch the rubber gas line shut with a small pair of vise grips when I park it.
I tryed this but it still leaks! Any help?

Brandon S. Chamberlain take the plug out and crank the engine. it will empty the cylinder out. also remove air filter and check fuel not leaked onto filter.
I've also noticed something new today: the float from the carburetor is not floating straight and it's slightly slanted. When it's in the bowl the float is getting stuck inside because it's not floating properly and wasn't able to rise up with the gas level. So it took me a little bit of work to balance the float, by inserting a small weight (a small nail) to make the float bob in the gas leveled.
Did this then the pull start broke when I went to test it ffs
Gas is leaking out of my 50cc scooter air filter, why? Please help me.
Very likely the gas shut off valve is not sealing. This valve should not allow gas to flow from the tank to the carb without the engine running.
If it is still leaking fuel then you either have clean the carb and/or open the fuel screw more.
mine was leaking fuel.. but it stopped when I leaned out the mixture :) no fork bending needed
also it ran alot better leaned then on rich!

these cheap carbs, 14.95 are horrible... Heard dude say, 'I just got a new carb''.... If bike is not ran every day... the bowl jams.. I just put a new carb on , fine... didnt run bike 3 weeks,,, it happened, float froze.. pain... not sure if im going to adjust it , or buy a new one..

best thing to do is take it apart and set ur parts in order as u take em off and how they come off so u know they go back on the same way. thats what i do

Unfortunately with this easy fix you can cause the air fuel mixture to run to lean or to rich which can lead to spark plug fowling burning out valves seats and overall poor performance. I have had the same problem with a brand new carburetor with factory float height set incorrectly so just had them replace it :)

these bikes are crap, had 2 and both leaked when i went to the shop they said when you finish riding don't fiddle with the choke
