Each of the major stores have their own cotton yarns that are basically the same as each other, with just different packaging! JoAnn's/Michaels has Lily Sugar n Cream, Hobby Lobby has Crafter's Secret, and Walmart has Peaches & Cream. Also the solids in Peaches & Cream are 2.5oz just like normal sized Lily Sugar n Cream solids, the normal variegated versions of both have only 2oz! Great video :DD

Because of my sensory issues there are a lot of cotton yarns I can't work with. I don't like the "dry" feeling some have. Idk how to describe it, the ones which if you rub them, you can kinda feel that roughness to it. For that reason I prefer thinner cotton threads.
One cotton yarn I enjoy a lot is Hobbii Ribbon. I made a basket for slippers in it and it was a lot of fun to work with. I find it much softer and easier to work with than other ribbon yarns, which is probably because it's 100% cotton.
You’re welcome!! And I definitely understand the dry feeling you’re describing, I think that texture works goodfor things like dishcloths but that’s really all I use them for because of the texture! I also wanna do a Hobbii order soon to try their cotton yarn cause I’ve heard such great things but I’ve never tried it!

I’m sure I will love it and I can’t wait to do the order!! I have bought so much yarn recently and I’m trying to do a bit better with budgeting my yarn shopping (we’ll see if that works LOL!) So it might be a month or more until I do an order but I still can’t wait!! :)

You think we cheat?!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 lol. The cotton yarns I have tried for dishcloths are Peaches and Cream (? @ Walmart), a premier cotton yarn, and Sugar n Cream. My favorite is Sugar n Cream for dishcloths. Thank you for the video.

The only one of these I’ve tried is the peaches and cream which I’m using to make little amigurumi bees. It isn’t the softest but I really like it. I think I’ll try the Walmart brand soon since Walmart is the nearest shop XD
You should totally try out the mainstays! They don’t have the most color options but I do really like the few they have and hopefully they will add more colors soon!!

Hi Katie⚘️ 👋 thanks bunches for doing this comparison. I haven't tried cotton yet as I'm still learning and expanding my crochet knowledge 😃 if you don't mind me asking? I was wondering what cotton yarn you would consider the softest? I received a package of cotton yarn to make some washcloths but it's very stiff and it's the only one I've actually bought. I think that's why I've stuck wirh acrylic yarn, but I'd love to try a cotton yarn to make some home accessories but don't want the yarn to be super stiff, but able to hold up ok if it's used to make a bag, rug, or pillow, etc. Thank you for letting me pick your brain. 🌷💕🌼🌸⚘️👍
No problem at all!! I think hobby lobby 100% cotton yarn and mainstays 100% cotton are the softest cotton yarns that I’ve used and I’ve actually done a yarn comparison video for Hobby Lobby vs Walmart yarns and those yarns are included if you want to hear the pros and cons for these yarns! I have also heard great things about some other ones as well (like K+C cotton, Hobbii rainbow cotton, Lion brand Pima cotton, etc) but I’ve just never tried them even though I really want to!! I actually put out a poll on my community tab the other day asking about people’s favorite cotton yarns so the comments on that might be a good place to reference if you want some more ideas for soft cottons!! How do you use the sugar and cream without it splaying into layers
It’s honestly just practice working with it. You could also try different kinds of hooks since some hooks have a more pointed tip and some are rounded
i bought a bunch of Caron Cotton Funnel Cakes to make some some clothing items, I really like loops & threads Capri Cotton for clothes but its not 100% cotton (57% cotton, 28% nylon, 15% polyester), I get all my yarn from Michaels since im in canada.
I saw the Caron cotton funnel cakes last time I was at Michaels and I was very tempted to buy them but I never did I! And I’ve never tried the capri cotton so I’ll have to add that to my list!

Do what you can to not support Hobby Lobby. They have in place policies that do not support civil rights for all. Specially women. Not to get all political about yarn in this day and age we have choices.
