- Harry Sheerer and David L. Lander of The Credibility Gap (en.wikipedia.or...) performing their parody of the Abbott and Costello bit, "Who's On First." In the case of the Credibility Gap, the "who" is "The Who."
Absolutely brilliant take on the classic original. Are we not going to talk about how amazing that triple bill would be?
Haven't heard this in 50 years! Can't believe I found it!!! Thanks!
RIP David L. Lander ⚾
I heard this on the radio back in the 70's and thought it was brilliant! I've been looking for it ever since. Finally, 40 years later and it's still brilliant. Why is it so rare and hard to find? Thanks so much to the uploader.
Brilliant redo of the original! Heard it first on Demento back in the '80s. Thanks
I've been wanting to hear this again for 35 years. Thanks for posting it!
Dr Demento played this quite a few times. "Rock and Roll Doctor, you're on the air." [Also the one about drugs. "I don't advocate drugs, I just prescribe them."]
I heard this first on WMMR FM in Philly. STILL LOL funny. An homage to Abbott & Costello. Fabulous !
me too
"If I could write, I wouldn't have had to steal this bit!"
So glad someone finally posted this one--THANK YOU!!
Clever spoof of Abbott & Costello's immortal "Who's On First".
i 1st heard this in '79/80 on wysp's (philly) weekly 'comedy hour' show on sunday nights. been searching for it awhile. thanks for this.
me too!
a struggle to decide whether this bit, or the original "Who's on First" is the greatest comedy bit ever
My favorite who's on first parody will always be the Son of Svengoolie's Durwood bit about newswoman Linda Yu. "I like Yu"
Someone on Facebook thought they had heard a rock and roll version of Whose On First. Thank you again Dr. Demento for the fine education! And thank you Mr. Whittaker for posting this fine bit. I forgot about the last line, LMAO!
Blast from the past. Taped this off the Doctor when I was in high school and listened to it till the tape wore out. Thanks for the upload!
Just a bust up! LOL Funny. The timeing is terrific
I remember hearing this on the radio back in the 1970s. I think you have to be of a certain age to appreciate the references to the defunct bands, but I'm of that age, so I appreciate it. (Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods!). It was fun to listen to this again. Nice little punchline at the end, also.
more credibility gap! Love this routine
This is from CG's lp, "The Bronze Age of Radio." Great album. Still have my old copy. This version is missing the musical intro. You can hear the entire thing at Harry Shearer's site:
harryshearer.com/projects/credebility-gap/
NB: Albert Brooks did some time in the Credibility Gap, as well.
93XRT played this Friday morning.
Young Shearer appeared "Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein"
Actually, it was "Abbott and Costello Go To Mars". And, he has been around awhile.. He's 75.
Miss the days when the Credibility Gap used to do the Rose Parade .
Not running no goddamn Busch Gardens pal
I recorded a lot of the news bits they did on KPPC FM in LA around 1970, lost the cassette, anybody have any ideas on how to locate that stuff, some of the funniest stuff I've ever heard on the radio, or anywhere else I guess. thanks curt
Hell yeah. Ruthless!
Squiggy!
Does anyone have "Busride to Destiny: The Sam Yorty Story"? Shearer had it on his website for a while (as a crappy RealAudio file), but it's nowhere to be found now.
Amazing vid bro make more
I want to see the Dina-ling Sisters
You're in luck! They're currently touring with the Ringling Brothers!
lol
That's Michael McKean in this particular bit, not Harry Shearer. Shearer's only the announcer at the beginning.
Sorry, but that is Shearer as the concert promoter. David Lander is the other guy.
I was just about to correct this poster and lo, it was a much younger, stupider me who posted this. :D
@@Eggmanontheair Squiggy for the win!
