It's amazing how this simple tune without even any lyrics has remained as a musical classic far beyond many hits from famous singers that are now forgotten.
Is it really amazing? Much of what is literally called "classical music" has no lyrics and is still listened to today, hundreds of years after being written.
Excellent young man, and you are a star in the making. It's rare today to see anyone actually produce the tones, the rhythms, and to understand why it's played that way. You sir, please keep going, no matter what others say, you keep going, and keep going. You are the music makers, let the world dance to your tune.
If you ask me analogue synths are addicting. I had the pleasure of working with one, and damn. I am not a good musician, I am GARBAGE at writing melodies and identifying notes, but let me tell you, I wan't to get better just to do justice to that poor dusty synth 😂 I can't remember ANYTHING as it's been a few months, but it was an electronic organ dusting away in a storage room at my school. Even though the keys were covered there was a thick layer of dust. I can't remember who made it, but I believe it was called a U-50? If I recall right it was produced in the 1970s. I couldn't find a manual online, so I had to figure out the thing myself. It didn't make noise, even when the volume was cranked up. The assistant that led me there told me that in the 10 years she'd worked st the school, she had never seen anyone play it. It felt magical when it made sound. Old tech amazes me!
Hearing this takes me back to a sunny afternoon in England early70s ..riding home on the school bus with my girlfriend and this playing on the radio ..strange how music can take you back to a time and place long in the past 😬
This song is closely associated with me with the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. I bought the single and it played up and down during the broadcasts of the games. I was 19 years old at the time. It was a long time ago ;-)
Hard to believe I had a very good friend who drank away all of his talent and ambitions who used to be into tech and electronic music like this. The whole visual appearance of this is everything he strived for. There is definitely a spirit moving through music and time. Don't fall prey to the poisons of Earth.
Exilent job ! Clear cut . I remember the original in 1969 on radio , i was sheaking my body , head and arms , legs like crazy . They call me idiot , but i know that music was to my galactic image connection . After that , only those kind of music hit my spine & brain , into my every cell , like JMJ OXIGEN , etc. that was where i relized i may came from another planet . At list that i was thought .
Well executed that retains the spirit of Gershons composition!!! Much better than any other version I have seen. Well done indeed! Love that Poly D doing its thing!
Dammit, I knew it was a bad idea to click on this but I just couldn't stop myself... Now it's going to be stuck in my head for the next week! Seriously, though, that was an awesome cover. I've had a soft spot for this piece ever since I first encountered it as a SoundTracker module playing in the computer room at school. Musical comfort-food of the highest calibre.
When it appeared on the airwaves, I was totally on (then)Walter Carlos Switched-on Bach and found absolutely ironical that this simple immediate summer hit dance tune was composed and played on the very same range of huge modular Moog synth!
Now I found the song that, Bob and Tom used to play..Awesome...Thank you for your expensive work...Wow impressive..... Fantastic..More content please...
Remakes remixes can be hit or miss but this spot on it's always a treat to come across a gem like this an early example of electronica and synthesizers which was just coming out at that time period and they weren't cheap all those wires knobs etc but great when you had access to one of them at some studio or university.
I had first heard it in 1973,and even have the 45 singles disc. Is the arpeggio part computer generated ? Amazing,it is still popular, nearly half a century later too. !!
I applaude you! I love your interpretation, it looks like you had fun too! I always loved this song, I think I first heard the speed-up remix in the 90s (?) I never knew that the original was so old already.
Oh, so that's who the original artist is. I thought it was Aphex Twin with his remix called Pop Corn. It's from his Joyrex Ep, one of his first albums.

It was a trailblazer!
Is it really amazing? Much of what is literally called "classical music" has no lyrics and is still listened to today, hundreds of years after being written.
No. It's not amazing at all. See the comment above about classical music. Classics are classics. Their qualities endure.
I... I don't think it's simple...
I'd ask which singers, but you've probably forgotten. :)
No matter who makes a cover of Popcorn, it is always such a cheerful piece of music, just bursting with happiness! One of my all-time favorites.
All I can hear is "let the bodies hit the floor" 😭
Niel Cicierega ruined me.
Have you seen the Marsheaux version? That adds something else entirely..
Aphex Twin!!!!

I was a kid when the original song appeared...I was struck and amazed ..it was music from Another planet!I had lots of synths since..!!
Sixties was the best era
wow! Feels like it's the early 70s again. That was GREAT!
Простая мелодия, но почему-то завораживает уже столько десятков лет! Спасибо за отличный кавер! Спасибо за синтезаторы! 👏👏👏👍 Новых успехов!
I really like the fact this cover was entirely played on "old school" analog synthesizers. I think even Gershon Kingsley would approve.
I was going to say that could be done today on probably a smart phone but it’s nice to see old tech still being used rather than forgotten
I totally agree, a fantastic piece of work. I have loved this tune for many years now and this is just as good as the original.
@@MrTwincam316 True, but it wouldn't sound like this.

Knowing the past can surely make the future better...this song is one of hallmarks of electronic music. Cheers from philippines

Полвека минуло с тех пор.

Amazingly well played. Brilliant sound textures Popcorn is one of the classic synth numbers. Thanks you.
Absolutely a spectacular beautiful rendition of a little simple song that has been around for so many years.
I liked it
Very faithfull to Gershon's original, something very hard to found. Congrats.
Awesome! Remembering it from the early 70's, Love it! Great work Hugh R
АНАЛОГ РУЛИТ!!! БРАВО!!!!👏👏👏
Dziękuję za tą dawkę pozytywnej energii.
Pozdrawiam serdecznie z Polski! ♥️

Nice to see such a great old style analog synth. Remembers me on old times ...
This was the theme to the nightly Michigan state lottery when I was growing up. Aggie Ussedly carried it.
The deceptive simplicity of this tune is downright haunting.
Well executed that retains the spirit of Gershons composition!!! Much better than any other version I have seen. Well done indeed! Love that Poly D doing its thing!
super cover on the analog syntezisers! Great moog!
Great cover! So much appealing harmony.
Dammit, I knew it was a bad idea to click on this but I just couldn't stop myself... Now it's going to be stuck in my head for the next week!

...I first encountered it as an s3m file way back when.
1969. Granddaddy of all EDM. Endlessly covered.
Brings back memories of me playing Pyjamarama in my Sinclair Spectrum later into the night than I was allowed.
this cover is seriously underrated
well done young sir!!....its faithful to the original!
What a brilliant cover / recreation of the original Hugh. Great job and thank you.
Superb geeky setup. Fantastic.!
This song will never be the same to me after hearing Niel Cicierga's Popcorn/Let the Bodies Hit the Floor mashup.
No song will be the same after hearing Niel's version
I've just searched for that. It's.. different 😅
Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱💪

This is a great cover.
As each generation of kids comes up and are introduced to the Muppets version of this is never fails and becomes their no1 requested tune.
Now I found the song that, Bob and Tom used to play..Awesome...Thank you for your expensive work...Wow impressive..... Fantastic..More content please...
PERFECTION

I would *love* for Wintergarten to cover this on the new machine!
This is just wonderful, I love it to bits.
Sweet and bursting with flavour - just like the original! :)
Vraiment super. Très bon morceau. Le son est Super. Beaucoup de bons souvenirs en réécoutant ce morceau. Merci.
That's excellent piece, please keep going Hugh!
I had first heard it in 1973,and even have the 45 singles disc.

Amazing,it is still popular, nearly half a century later too. !!
Always like the tune and this has me smiling at the rendition and the mixing skills Thumbs up Hugh
That DIY 5U looks and sounds great!
WOW. You inspired me to take my Minilogue out of the box. Thanks for sharing!!!
woooooowwww!!!!!!!!!😲
I applaude you! I love your interpretation, it looks like you had fun too! I always loved this song, I think I first heard the speed-up remix in the 90s (?) I never knew that the original was so old already.

Very good cover version :) It takes me back to the Great Egg and Spoon Race on TV where I first heard it.
Super la vidéo avec tous ces synthétiseur cool and good. Merci pour çà c'est trop sublime !
Impressive! Most impressive. 🎉
AWESOME COVER!!!! WELL DONE!!!!
Oh that was so well done!
And yes, it did sound great!
Since that is not a MOOG synthesizer - way to go KIDDO. Very good modern rendition. Well done.
All of a sudden it's 1974, I'm 7 years old, and hearing some weird music on the radio while out on summer break from elementary school...
Your interpretation is wonderful.
Très bien programmée.
I'm also a musician on Mini-Moog synthetiser...
Alain (France). Good job.
Bon boulot. 🇫🇷🙂🙂🎶🎶🎼🎼
Oh man, that is a dance floor stormer!!!
Awesome!
Now that’s what I’m talking about!
25 years ago i realized my cover too. I was made on my Amiga 600 and ProTracker :)
Götz Gustav Ksinski debe estar orgulloso de ti. excelente !!!
Great fun! Thanks a lot: really enjoyed.
Robert MOOG introduced the first Electronic Analog Synthesizer but after his, all the early synth's were grouped under this term
Oh, so that's who the original artist is. I thought it was Aphex Twin with his remix called Pop Corn. It's from his Joyrex Ep, one of his first albums.
Que de souvenirs...
Love this! Nice work
Jean Michel Jarre started here. One of his earliest covers was Popcorn.
upper left , when music was made using patch cords . love the tune . esp the muppet version with the sweedish chef.
man you are great! just continue....
Nice work, kid! Impressed!
This sounds fantastic! As with many Popcorn covers, this sounds much better than the original.
Think about it. 1963 this was created. Way ahead of its time. I wasn't even alive.
the sound design and mix are so good
I GOT MULTIPLE VERSIONS AND THE ORIGINAL, IT STILL STANDS OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice cover. Keep it up!
One of the best versions of this I heard was by The Swedish Chef of The Muppet Show. With real popcorn.
Although some popcorn smell is missing, it is a brilliant cover!

Really impressed ! So easy to do all in software now, but you nailed this in hardware. Mark.
It’s great to see and hear what you did with a Minilogue. I’ll have to try this song on mine. Thanks for the inspiration.
Perfect....
Nicely buttered!
