Bob signed my early Minimoog one year before he passed away here overseas. That modular can´t be in better hands than yours! Stay well my friend. I would like to buy a Midimini with R.A. Moog boards
Treasure. I always have a soft spot for vintage tech on the computing/gaming side. It is great to see what early music tech looks like. What is great about this Moog is it is still (over 50 years old) serviceable and useable today. That is great engineering.
Switched-on-Bach was the very first CD i bought! (In 1983 at the age of 15). I was already conversant in Kraftwerkish (on vinyl) and deep down the rabbit hole with Tangerine Dream (and Edgar Froese’s solo work). I got my first musical kiss by Beatles. So I guess its fair to say that the Moog Modular synth was part of my early aesthetic education, and I have a deep and abiding love for it. Very happy that you got your hands on this one, and I’m positive that you will be a a wonderful addition to the Moog Modular egregore! 🙏❤️🙏
I remember when synths were just becoming noticed by the general public. How often did I hear people say the sound was "synthetic" or fake. Ugh. My older brother bought a Walter Carlos album and I played it often. By the time I was old enough to make my own money, I started buying Carlos albums and built up a sizeable collection of Tangerine Dream records, Jean-Michel Jarre, Yellow Magic Orchestra records and more. I've watched plenty of Robert Moog documentaries and thought he was such a cool guy. Unlike Les Paul who invented something he could play, Bob didn't play keyboards. Others had to step in to give voice to his remarkable instrument. Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson and others did their part to bring the Moog into the mainstream. I can't imagine a life without hearing Moog's creation. Isao Tomita's albums are an integral part of my musical edification. His mastery of electronic music in the classical realm is highly under-valued in Western society. Your videos are truly a musical blessing to all humans that love good music. You help even lay people who have no technical background in music creation or electronics see the beauty of these expensive, complicated machines and how creative people like yourself find the soul and humanity in them. Thank you for all your efforts. This is one Canadian who truly enjoys everything you've posted here on RUclips. Things only get better with each post!
I’d love to hear anything you want to share about patching/programming this wonderful classic. Also would appreciate comparison of different Moog oscillators. Your channel is great!
I'm interested in the following: - Any sonic difference between the 901 and 921 VCOs? - The behaviour of the CP3 mixers: how and when they distort, how this affects the response of the 904A LPF, and whether such waveshaping capability can be applied to DC signals (LFOs and envelopes) - the details of the 904A LPF: I'm curious about the "frequency range" selector, and I've heard that its resonance is a bit different from modern synths - how the filter coupling works - what is "not modular": the switches, the connections behind the panels, the trunk lines, etc. - What's inside the 905 reverb? I'm curious about the spring tank Sorry it's a lot: I'm super curious, and looking forward to seeing the final video! (Thank you for reading this far)
I’d love to see the recording process, we often see these amazing synths but getting to observe a recording process with all the tiny tweaks to would be a treat. Great stuff.
That’s awesome! I only recently discovered Mort Garrison and by sheer coincidence, just bought a vinyl reissue of Plantasia last week. It might be fun to hear some recreations of some of the sounds from it on the actual unit he used!
Not sure if I’m fascinated more with the story of how you found it or the Moog itself. Either way, what a find! Congrats. I’ll echo what others have said: Would love to hear what that thing actually sounds like.
This story just might beat mine about buying a Moog Subharmonicon from a guy I saw carrying it at an In-And-Out Burger in Sherman Oaks. You go, Anthony! More Moog Mod videos! 🤔
I love it Two but i have to say the SERGE modular is owning my affection ❤ I have some Moog synths also that I love. Never had the chance to try the system you have here. Guessing I would favourite it also. Xx
What a synthesizer! Love the stories of Bob and Herb Deutsch. Also great video on YT with Bob, Bernie Worrell and Rick Wakeman about long and short solo's 😅 As a story about Yes performing live, Bob tearing the synthesizer apart in the break when the curtains open up again 😂 Am I entitled to be a little jalous? 😂
Can you find the time to make longer form videos? I would love to hear what you think of Mort Garson and the whole story of the find. You’re an incredible guy, and I would also like to hear more about your role in the Beepers and the creation of the sounds and music in Wargames. And much more about your career and thoughts in general.
@@anthonymarinellimusic you keep popping up all over the place when I look at credits of some of my new favorites Apple Music has enabled me to discover. And I discover your name on old favorites too. Would you happen to know Brian Kehew and have access to his Con Brio ADS? He releases a tiny snippet once in while, but I’d love to hear something more of the history and of course also the sounds.
My dream synth? A Moog Modular System 55! Loved them since I first saw Tangerine Dream in the mid-70's. Unfortunately, I can only afford the VSTi version by Arturia. I'll just have to be satisfied with that, and my EuroRack.
We need to hear *more* from this beautiful beast.
The plantasia sound?!?!? That’s incredible!
I used to hang out with Bob Moog from time to time... he was such a wonderful man! Glad this one got saved!
Wendy Carlos is such a huge inspiration!
Glad Mort Garson's synth will live on! Those records are masterfully crafted.
Unbelievable story. Lucky synth, it couldn't have found a better home.

You've got to be the luckiest person in the world to find this gem. Hats off to you and congratulations. 😊 Have fun

I'd love to see you make a song with it. all parts Moog!!!
Fantastic. And to find that on a driveway: your neighborhood must be Laurel Canyon!
Not sure if I’m fascinated more with the story of how you found it or the Moog itself. Either way, what a find! Congrats. I’ll echo what others have said: Would love to hear what that thing actually sounds like.

That Moog could not have a better owner!

My dream synth as well! I’m surprised you didn’t mention Tomita, though.
I believe he also used a IIIC originally.
Would love to see videos about this!
