    I'm week 5 post op... cant walk without crutches but I can stand without them. Cast off last week and I stretch everyday. Removed first wedge of my boot today. Small progress is better than none.

      I could walk at 3 months, jog at 6 months, pain free at 18 months. It sucks but you will be normal some day.

    I ruptured mine at the heel and had to have a repair and a reattchment. I did it doing box jumps at crossfit. I have to say it was painful but not overly painful but getting around for the first ten weeks was the hardest part getting up to go to the bathroom was such a hassle. My surgeon used colored casts to show your progression white, pink, blue and black was graduation from the hard cast to the walking cast total 10 weeks hard cast no walking or weight bearing. 4 weeks walking cast along with therapy. I had the therapy in the video expect that scaping thing believe me you do not want anyone messing anywhere near that scar. You want to know pain mess around in that area. My surgery was in May and it's now Decemember and I can do everything I want my heel will hurt after standing for long periods of time but that gets better with time. My incision area will hurt if I accidentally hit that area usually catching it going down stairs. I hope my rant will help you prepare and know what to expect if you need this surgery.

    I would have to say this is very conservative looking post op achilles. I am 2.5 months after surgery, had a cast for 2 weeks and boot for 4 weeks. Currently I am able to walk normally for longer walks (7-8kms) and am working on strenghtening my calf. Not being able to walk after 3 months is not very normal.

      I'm 3 months post op and have been walking for nearly a month, without a limp but can't speed walk or run yet. I suggest pushing yourself a little more as pain and movement permits.

    i did surgery ,i advice all first 2 weeks no weight bearing just relax and wear boot 3week and 4 you should do exercise with boot to make ur upper leg muscles strong ,dont walk by boot without crutches at week5 and 6 ,week 7 take off ur boot and ur leg will be strong cuz u did exercise on it with boot before then start physio with physio u should walk normally without limp in 12 session ,be positive ,if u want to know about exercise send me messages to send u the link

    Is it normal that a week after surgery (total rupture), if I lift my leg with the boot, after a few minutes my foot starts to swell because of gravity? No matter how I place my foot, I feel that swelling because of the weight of the boot probably. It’s so annoying

    that just looks like its feels amazing anyway from the massage work being done. maybe that would be helpful in general to loosen up and the help strengthen tendon?

      Graston massages do not feel good lol. They help tremendously but they are painful. You can literally feel the tissues breaking down.

      I'm 3 months post surgery and get similar massages to break down scar tissue. It is literally the most pain I've ever experienced in my life, worse than the actual tear.

    • @PhysiquipeChannel
      @PhysiquipeChannel  6 лет назад +4

      Hi Adam, people respond differently to different injuries. This patient had surgery for the achilles rupture and meant wearing a boot for a few months after - which was one cause for the excessive swelling. I hope your recovery is going well! Physiquipe

    • @jasmineegardner3499

      @@PhysiquipeChannel Hi thanks for sharing. At what stage in the Achilles protocol would this need to be done to the patient? For example of the patient has limited rom in the ankle joint and dorsiflexion would this be because of the build scar tissue around the Achilles’ tendon after surgery? The patient is 10-14 post op.

    Hello Doctor, I had an achille tendon break on my right foot while playing basketball. It's been a month. when I move with the crutches i put my tiptoe injured on ground while paying attention .. Because crutches are old, i am too heavy for moving without putting that foot on the ground and the plaster is damaged because of that, i removed it. So :
    1) I would like to know if it will have consequences that i walk putting on the ground tiptoe achille tendon repaired ..?
    2) I also would like to know if i will be able to walk correctly as before because I can not bend my foot at 90 degree at this moment..?
    Thank you Doctor.. !!!
