    Thank you, this is useful! I'm 8.5 weeks post Achilles tendon repair op, and have significant scar tissue. Haven't gotten any good recommendations on how to work with that. Just a few minutes working with this feels like something relaxed or released, so I will factor this in. Interesting observation, at one point, the pain shot up into my upper inner thigh... Feels better now though...

    Are there any ways to break up scar tissue without dorsiflexing the foot? I develop insertional achilles tendonitis while healing calf strain and want to break up the scar tissues of calf but due to insertional tendinitis cant dorsiflex the foot right now.

    I've had a heel spur surgery with some Achilles repair 6/4/19. So my scar runs from the adjacent of my ankle in the back down to the back of my heel. My scar tissue is about a quarter sized ball only at the start of scar. I've been doing the massage techniques I was shown in physical therapy and from the doctor but that ball is still there I don't want it to get harder. Will this help with that, because even though I stopped physical therapy in November that knot gets tight,and still causes pain back there especially if I'm sitting and my foot is relaxed and not flexed. I still wear a night splint to keep it stretchd if not that knot is tight and pain is there all day. The pain I felt in my heels is gone before the surgery but now the knot is causing me to have limited strech of my wallk

    Have such a great amount of scar tissue build up that it still feels like my tendon isn’t connected to my calf! Had surgery back in Aug. 2014 and still cannot gain strength in my calf no matter what I do! And every step I take feels abnormal. And the only time I truly feel a stretch in my right calf is when I stretch with a bended leg and not a straight leg. I don’t even have to push on anything when I simply bend my right leg and lean forward cause it is still so tight!!

    Is there a certain point where you can no longer break up scar tissue? I had some complications post-op that resulted in a second surgery and months of delays to my rehab. I’m now without health insurance and have SO much scar tissue and swelling, but no formal PT. What can I do on my own to facilitate healing?

    • @EvanChait
      @EvanChait  4 года назад +6

      Brent Zeitler I am sorry to hear about your scar tissue and swelling. Self myofascial release is very helpful. If you need suggestions check out www.vitatype.com/exercise-library.
      This is a free library of corrective soft tissue work and corrective exercises.
      Also super potent digestive enzymes help break up scar tissue. Very effect strategy used in Germany for half a decade.
