I'm still recovering from a D&C for a very wanted pregnancy that unfortunately never developed and let me tell you, that first trimester was so much more than I could have ever prepared myself for. Exactly. Like I * PERSONALLY * would probably not abort, but that’s because I have a sister who would happily take a baby were I to have one. Very few people have that option.
Not just that, but Jesus was Jewish and abortion has always been allowed in Jewish tradition because they acknowledge that the life of the mother is more important than a fetus. In Judaism you don’t even ANNOUNCE your pregnancy until the baby is already born. And in most non-Christian traditions a pregnancy isn’t even considered valid until the “quickening,” when the pregnant person can feel the fetus moving around on its own. Just wanted to let yall know there are 2 ways you can do the pill; sometimes you take both mifepristone AND misoprostol the next day like Kelsey said OR you can take 2 doses of just the later. I did the 2 doses of misoprostol and the pain and cramping lasted 12 ish hours. Pain was pretty bad; and you totally can tell when you start -and stop- passing it. So proud of you for being open about such a private, highly taboo topic. I had to take abortion pill after complications with a miscarriage. Is physically and emotionally difficult but the sense of peace and calm after you pass it afterwards is huge. The first 48 hours is the most intense. Once you get pregnant everyone has a opinon on your body even more so if you're open about it. Sending love and healing thoughts ❤️
I had a miscarriage 3 months in and it was so incredibly painful I can't even remember it without remembering the pain and throwing up. Since then I've had two children, and miscarriages are absolutely equal to childbirth! Minus the ring of fire, you're still having horrific contractions and throwing up and having diarrhea and feeling like you're going to pass out from the amount of pain. The second you pass it though, it's a wave of relief. I hate being a woman, I cried my entire pregnancy with my daughter because I never wanted to give birth to another woman. To know I created someone who will have to live through all these terrors breaks my heart.
I understand. I had a 3 month miscarriage of twins and as a mom now I can also vouch that my full term labor felt the same. The delivery part was obviously different but labor was the same feeling. My body did NOT handle labor well any of the times I’ve gone through it.
Zach saying “did you tell your church leader?” Some doctors genuinely react that way. They impart their beliefs when they should just give the facts and let the patient decide what to do. This happened to me at an urgent care a male doctor literally said that to me at 19
I'm so proud of you for being so open and honest about everything, an abortion is not an easy thing to go through physically or mentally, so sending healing thoughts and big hugs ❤ xxxx
This was so refreshing. It has been a little over a year since I had mine and it was the best decision of my life Im so proud of you for being comfortable speaking about this
Thank you so much for being so open and thank you VERY much for pointing out how absolutely asinine these so called "heartbeat" laws in other states are. It's ridiculous. They do continue to try to remove access to the pills (and hell, even birth control) as well, so scary and angering.
THIS is why we have to pay attention to politics - Recently, SCOTUS heard a case of FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine. They ruled, unanimously, that the plaintiffs lack a legal right to challenge the FDA’s actions regarding the regulation of mifepristone (abortion pill). Also, the US Senate recently voted on the Right to Contraceptives Act, which stated that Americans have the right to access contraceptives and physicians have the right to prescribe them. It failed 51 to 39. It’s an election year. VOTE!!!
I can confirm that even the nicest hospitals use the dollar store pregnancy tests. Also, for uterus having folks that end up in the hospital and get asked to pee in a cup for a pregnancy test before a procedure and 100% know they aren't pregnant: you can ask to sign a waiver instead. They won't offer it off the bat but most nurses won't even blink at the request and you'll save yourself the $150 line item on your bill. AND, if there's a chance you might be pregnant and you have a procedure coming up that requires a pregnancy test beforehand, take a dollar store test at home the morning before the procedure. If it's negative then you can ask for the waiver with confidence.
@@nicholastyler3804 Nah, I'm good. Super weird to go out of your way to make such a useless reply on a two month old video, though. You okay, little buddy?

THANK YOU FOR SHARING: I’m 34, had an abortion 11 years ago. I’ve never felt bad about it. It saved my life, as it was ectopic, but also bc I wasnt ready! Had someone made me raise that baby if it had been viable I’d have surely died, because I couldn’t handle it. I was post PTSD and in the throws of recovering from it, and a baby was the last thing I needed. Young me deserved to make that choice then, and I’m so sad it’s even harder for women to make that choice now. Thank you so much for sharing. I wish you nothing but the easiest procedure, and the speediest mental and emotional recovery! ❤
I have sadly had experience with both abortion & miscarriages, I also proudly have one son. Ive had the pills and the surgical, and mentally the surgical was better post (but the prep was not.) Im looking forward to hearing your story and am regularly open about mine and being a resource. Thank you for sharing.
I died when Zachary said “Couldn’t she have just poked it enough times with the sonogram stick?” lol!!! the ultrasound wand goes up/scans against the uterus! it doesn’t go inside of it lol 🤣🤣🤣 💀💀
i had the medication and it genuinely was one of the most traumatic things of my life. im glad i did it and it probably doesnt help i did it pretty much entirely alone but i actually also knew when i passed the tissue.

Thank you for this ep, I had an abortion 3 years ago and I don’t regret it at all, but I never talk about it. It’s so great hearing you talk about it ❤
It's because it's not in your family plan. Simple! Thank you for speaking on this. It's up to the woman to decide if she would like the pregnancy to continue in her body. I too got pregnant on birth control! I was in grade 12. Had tonsillitis and NOT ONE DOCTOR told me my prescription medication makes my pill ineffective. Lack of education is usually why these things happen.
Thank you so much for being willing to share this. I had an abortion in 2009. I was 19 and it was the best decision I have ever made for myself. I had my first child in 2015 and I am, so grateful that I was able to wait. Side note, I also tried Phexxi bc I wanted hormone free birth control and did not want a copper IUD. I hated it. I stressed me out every time thinking I could have gotten pregnant. The reviews are pretty scare when it comes to failure rates and the instructions are pretty unclear.
I am pro-choice but I will say a conversation we don't have enough is the nuances of the situation. An abortion would bring me relief, however I have family members who have regretted them. To me it is just a cluster of cells, but to them that is a baby they are excitedly awaiting. None of this is black and white it's all gray I just wish we could 1 Talk about abortion more in the first place but 2 Recognize the situation is circumstantial and everyone should do what works best for them
I love you Kelsey and I'm so happy you made the best decision for you without hesitation despite your parent's desires for grandchildren. However, it is important to note that the physical and emotional toll of miscarriage can vary greatly from person to person. While some individuals may experience a quick and relatively painless process, others may face significant challenges. In my case, I was 17 years old when I miscarried twins. My body was unable to naturally expel the non-viable tissue, and I had to undergo a dilation and curettage (D&C) procedure. The surgery itself was brief and performed under sedation, but the subsequent pain management was inadequate. This wasn't due to the providers lack prescribing adequate pain management, they did. However being underage I wasn't given the option to take it as my parents said the pain should be manageable with Tylenol and ibuprofen. As a result, the pain and bleeding persisted for three weeks before gradually subsiding.
I’m assuming that everything went well since the ep is up so I hope you had a nice treat after, cause getting a procedure done is always meh so a treat makes your day better
I had one 14 years ago myself. It was hard and very toling on my body. The medical version didnt take the first dose either. I mean I havent had an abortion (gay guy) but it sounds like youre kinda underselling the pain of it. Ive heard a lot of experiences and it doesnt seem as quick and painless as you say. I hope yours is though and goes super smoothly. Thanks for sharing.
The 6 week abortion laws are so beyond infuriating. Thank you for your POV ❤ stay safe!! Especially if/when this starts its circulation on the other side of the Internet 🙃
One of my most vivid memories was when they overturned Roe V Wade and we were protesting on a street corner in my hometown, and a girl pulled up and said she had two abortions and she regretted them, and I got to say proudly “I’ve had two and I didn’t regret them at all.” There were a lot of factors that played into it, but I’m so glad to see this normalized in media by someone I’ve always looked up to.
I’ll add that I’ve always been in a state where you HAVE to travel out of state for any kind of abortion care. Even before Roe v Wade got overturned. So glad you’re in a safe state!
Single dad with four kids. Started at 17. The absolute happiest and most rewarding thing in my life is my kids. It was hard, I wasn't ready.... and it was worth it. I love them with all my heart. ❤
A thing that pisses me off about the 6 week abortion ban is that the doctor doesn’t even help you at that time. At least my doctor didn’t help me keep my pregnancy that I did want at 12 weeks. Idk man that just pisses me off
I know it was so early, but I also have trigeminal neuralgia, and was curious - did being pregnant trigger any flares for you? I'm nervous to get pregnant again because of that!
I am so sorry because I already know this might sound judgey coming from someone who has had fertility issues and can no longer have more of my own but have always wanted more. I wanted a big family. So i would like to ask Why would you use abortion as a means of birth control versus adoption? Again, I am pro choice because i am a woman who believes our rights should be protected but as someone who doesn't understand why use this as a form of birth control instead of other protection from pregnancy especially when you know you are so fertile going through what you were. I don't want any back lash out of this because i am only trying to understand.
Now I am Prochoice for all women, I do think people should be sensitive and not make jokes of abortion. It’s a very serious decision and a decision that changes some women’s lives.
I am so nauseous trying to watch this.... 32 years old you should know how to ask questions about birth control or do the research about the birth control you are taking. I knew that st 19! I support abortion but not as birth control!
I feel so lucky I have never needed to do this. It was weird though, something in my brain did not click that a woman could announce that she is pregnant along with immediately announcing she is having an abortion. Maybe it's because I live in Texas but I still associate pregnancy announcements with a decision to keep (waiting some time before announcing so the baby keeps) but it never occurred to me that someone would go through the scrutiny of revealingan abortion if they didn't have to. So sad how much shame women carry for this. GOOD FOR YOU GIRL!!!! Also so greatful yo have a husband who is always passionate about being child free and we have loved the life we have built together. 4 cats are the only kids we will ever need. Love your podcast and all your positive light!!!!!
I appreciate your point of view but my god how I wish I was in your position to have than option as someone who is suffering from fertility problems and has always dreamed of having a baby, i mean… I’m jealous you have these options….
This was such a healthy way to talk about it! Without shame, treating it like a normal life decision. Kind of laughing because of the birth control usage haha.
Oh sweety I miscarried a 3 month baby and u know it’s not just blood. It’s huge blood clots. I almost died from a miscarriage from loss of blood be careful if u take that at the higher weeks
First off wishing you well hoping everything went smoothly for you and that you’re feeling better. That being said I noticed some factual and accuracy is that were mentioned in this video. First of all I don’t believe you are able to have the abortion pill legally shipped to all 50 states. There are organizations out of Europe that I know are doing it however it’s not technically legal. There’s ways to make it happen. I’ve also heard of people temporary renting post office foxes in border cities across state lines and things like that to make it happen. Also in some states they have civil laws on the books that if you were to get an abortion someone was to find out they could sue whoever provided you the abortion or helped you. I don’t say this to dissuade anyone but just to be careful of who you tell. I also would be cautious of unnecessarily putting it in your medical records if you live in one of those states. Secondly when you mentioned that the procedures are painless that is not always the case. Again with gynecological procedures where they’re going in through your cervix there can be some pain for some women. Again I don’t say this to dissuade anyone but if you were having this done in a state where it’s legal you should advocate for proper pain relief from your doctor. Don’t just suffer through because you think you don’t have an option because you do. sorry just wanted to put that information out there for women who may be going through this. And most importantly don’t forget to vote we are one year into this nightmare and it needs to end. And another abortion in fact you forgot to mention that I think it’s worth sharing is the percentage of women that wind up having an abortion for a very wanted pregnancy. Sometimes it’s not a decision, but sometimes things go horribly wrong and there isn’t another option, and the states that banning abortions don’t make exceptions for these cases and it’s barbaric cruel and inhumane. Vote vote vote!! Vote like your life depends on it because it does. And let’s just be real if you think they’re stopping in abortion you’re wrong you’re coming for birth control they’re coming for gay marriage. They don’t even hide it anymore the very fabric of our society is crumbling and we need to stand up for what we believe in by voting. 🌊😔
At 6 weeks, you’d be shocked at how developed the actual body of the fetus is. (Not talking about organs or anything internal). They have all the development points of the fetus in The Body Exhibits (I went in Vegas). You could actually see its fingers. Also, I find surgical abortion way more ‘ethical’ in the long run than what the pill is. So often I’ve heard of people with complications and and tiny bits are left and they end up needing to go for surgery afterwards anyways. Annnnyyywaaayyys, hope the procedure went well and heal fast! I had to have a D&C (not from pregnancy) and another procedure and healing was rough. Follow the rules if there is some! lol
Kelsey- I hope it went well and that you are physically and mentally you’re doing good. Thank you for talking about it. It’s very important especially right now with all these horrible laws coming into effect. I struggle with infertility and have had multiple miscarriages and I’m currently on fertility medication that makes me so sick trying to conceive, and I always feel a little hurt when people who don’t want pregnancies get pregnant but it’s just this sick jealousy. I am 100% pro-choice though and hate when people struggling with infertility get pissed at people for having abortions or try to tell them to put the baby up for adoption. It’s just gross behavior.
I've never been pregnant thank God because I almost always use a condom because I'm fucking terrified because I don't want kids now and I know I'm not ready in any shape or form. However I cried like it was a my child when my 2 months old puppy died so much that I hope I have the guts to do an abortion if the time ever comes. Because it would be the right thing for me, the unborn kids i will have and my future. I think I'll have to not overthink it and do it if the time comes.😊 Hope you are healthy and happy Kelsey.

"You've Got Milk" SENT ME OMGGGGG 🤣🤣🤣

It has been a little over a year since I had mine and it was the best decision of my life
Im so proud of you for being comfortable speaking about this
Thank you so much for being so open and thank you VERY much for pointing out how absolutely asinine these so called "heartbeat" laws in other states are. It's ridiculous. They do continue to try to remove access to the pills (and hell, even birth control) as well, so scary and angering.
I found this fascinating. Thank you for being open and honest about your experience.
"uterus having folks" just say women for goodness sake
@@nicholastyler3804 Nah, I'm good. Super weird to go out of your way to make such a useless reply on a two month old video, though. You okay, little buddy?
I support your decision. And I hope it was painless and your healing very well. FINALLY, a non taboo, or heated talk about abortion.
This is informative. I live in Oklahoma, and women’s healthcare is so scary here. Thank you for sharing your experience and spreading awareness. 💛
This is SO important to talk about! I’m from one of the stricter states when it comes to abortion restrictions (Idaho), but am now a Washington state resident thank fuck. Thanks for talking about and normalizing this.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING:
I’m 34, had an abortion 11 years ago.
Hope it went well, honey. I'm so glad you were able to access it!!!!!
i had the medication and it genuinely was one of the most traumatic things of my life. im glad i did it and it probably doesnt help i did it pretty much entirely alone but i actually also knew when i passed the tissue.
Woow, now I got Miles's wild reaction after you told the news during the telethon!!!

Thank you for this ep, I had an abortion 3 years ago and I don’t regret it at all, but I never talk about it. It’s so great hearing you talk about it ❤
Kelsey, I am so deeply appreciative of you for making this episode! You’re an incredible woman and I have so much respect for you! ❤

Thinking about you! Also congrats on your sobriety anniversary 🎉
3 minutes in and I already want to say, Thank you for sharing your story, Kelsey.

Thank you for sharing and being transparent! I actually learned a lot. ♥️
I am pro-choice but I will say a conversation we don't have enough is the nuances of the situation. An abortion would bring me relief, however I have family members who have regretted them. To me it is just a cluster of cells, but to them that is a baby they are excitedly awaiting. None of this is black and white it's all gray I just wish we could 1 Talk about abortion more in the first place but 2 Recognize the situation is circumstantial and everyone should do what works best for them
The brain saying “try peeing again” really loved that part

As a result, the pain and bleeding persisted for three weeks before gradually subsiding.
admire you even more now for the frank discussion.
I’m assuming that everything went well since the ep is up so I hope you had a nice treat after, cause getting a procedure done is always meh so a treat makes your day better
I’m glad you’re okay Kelsey!!
I had one 14 years ago myself. It was hard and very toling on my body. The medical version didnt take the first dose either. But I am so grateful with how open you are for sharing this 🥰 i myself now 14 yrs later am married to the most amazing man I've ever met and have a 5 yr old son and 3 yr old daugter 😍 i regret my choice but i know i was with the wrong person at the time and its all for the better. I mean I havent had an abortion (gay guy) but it sounds like youre kinda underselling the pain of it. Ive heard a lot of experiences and it doesnt seem as quick and painless as you say. I hope yours is though and goes super smoothly. Thanks for sharing.
So sad that you said it's not a baby and yet right after you talk about the birthday of the alien thing. :/
and after speaking about freezing her eggs. so disconnected

The most egregious part of this story is Kelsey thinking February is Capricorn season
I wish you good luck and hope you have only the strongest support around you.

The absolute happiest and most rewarding thing in my life is my kids.
It was hard, I wasn't ready.... and it was worth it. I love them with all my heart. ❤
I feel like we need WAYYYYY better labelling on birth control methods. Was it prescribed?
A thing that pisses me off about the 6 week abortion ban is that the doctor doesn’t even help you at that time. At least my doctor didn’t help me keep my pregnancy that I did want at 12 weeks. Idk man that just pisses me off
I have always believed it is everyone's personal decision to make. I am glad you know what you want and your not letting anyone change your mind.
The easy way out.
I know it was so early, but I also have trigeminal neuralgia, and was curious - did being pregnant trigger any flares for you?
I'm nervous to get pregnant again because of that!
You’re a superstar for talking about this
I am so sorry because I already know this might sound judgey coming from someone who has had fertility issues and can no longer have more of my own but have always wanted more.
How dare you say it would be a Capricorn and then say February 1st. SMDH, that's an Aquarius baby gorl.
Now I am Prochoice for all women, I do think people should be sensitive and not make jokes of abortion. It’s a very serious decision and a decision that changes some women’s lives.
The easy way out.
I am so nauseous trying to watch this.... 32 years old you should know how to ask questions about birth control or do the research about the birth control you are taking. I knew that st 19! I support abortion but not as birth control!
Abortion kills a human being.
She was a baby though and she would have been a beautiful Aquarius
Ive never understood why anyone else feels the right to tell someone what to do with their own body.
I appreciate your point of view but my god how I wish I was in your position to have than option as someone who is suffering from fertility problems and has always dreamed of having a baby, i mean… I’m jealous you have these options….
Appreciate you sharing this! ❤
Ty for sharing and helping to destigmatize abortion ❤
I just want you to be safe and happy, regardless of your decisions. Abortion is healthcare and should be safe and accessible everywhere. ❤
Abortion is not healthcare.
This was such a healthy way to talk about it! Without shame, treating it like a normal life decision. Kind of laughing because of the birth control usage haha.
Was the egg freezing thing a brand deal/publicity thing?
5:33 She was using the "Pull-In" method of birth control. That was incorrect.
Oh sweety I miscarried a 3 month baby and u know it’s not just blood. It’s huge blood clots. I almost died from a miscarriage from loss of blood be careful if u take that at the higher weeks

Don’t… I got pregnant on my iud after 4 years. My doctor said it’s happens more frequently than expected.
"That would be hilarious"... distasteful much?
Follow the rules if there is some! lol
This is a wild podcast
Absolutely no words
thank you 🤍
Kelsey- I hope it went well and that you are physically and mentally you’re doing good.
Wait isn't February 1st an Aquarius?!?!
