Very interesting discussion on Polyphia in general. Saw them a few weeks ago live and was trully blown away. Wild that they can pull it off so well live.
Give the full band play throughout a watch, the mix is even better live and it’s amazing to watch them execute everything flawlessly. Neural dsp is the plug-in, they may be midi switching as well.
Saw them play this last night and it was amazing well said, was totally flawless! Scotty even made a comment we weren't loud enough if Tim was playing perfectly lol
You should check out their live studio play of this. You can actually watch what they're doing on the guitar, and it is amazing. Tim and Scott trade back and forth so cleanly it sounds like the same instrument. Then you have the two Clays. These guys are like the left and right part of a brain, and they don't miss a beat, ever. Incredibly talented people all around. I haven't played an instrument in 20 years, but these guys make me want to pick it back up. At 40 years old, I know I'll never be as good as them, but that's not the point. I just want to make my own grooves.
I feel the same way about them, that they've opened up a whole new way of looking at guitar. I'm not a guitarist, but they've really opened my eyes and inspired me with respect to composition and the self-imposed restrictions of genre. My music still isn't good, but at least it's more interestingly bad.
I found that a good way to learn single string muting is trying a bit of standard tuning slide guitar. Greg Koch has a very good book on that. There's no way around getting your string muting perfect when playing slide in standard tuning and is a nice and fun way to learn how to do it, when playing finger style at least.
Yo how tall are you bro?! That guitar look so small in your hands. Oh and 15:36 its blend between their new sound and early polyphia sound. You can check 'Crush' by polyphia, one of the happiest song ever written on guitar.
Is this a video reaction or a documentary? lol The actual song last 3 minutes yet yours is 27 minutes. No way Im watching your whole video. Perhaps rename it and add in the title "Polyphia - Neurotica Analysis" as it has nothing of a reaction

Yeah I’d say they are. Honestly I don’t think my ego could take it watching them all execute it note perfect. 🤣 I’m gonna go practice.

I'd love you to cover some Dance Gavin Dance for breaking down Will Swan's guitar work
Agreed DGD are amazing
I second this motion!!! You’ve gotta cover DGD
I’ll put it on my list!

The studio version is even better. It's insane how tight and clean it is.
Best intro to polyphia ever!
Great reaction mate. As someone who hasn’t picked up a guitar for a long time I love the explanations for the gnarly shit these guys do.
Great video as usual man! If you haven't checked out Chon yet, their song Splash is a good place to start.

Haha. That’s a great way of putting it!

it also resembles Champagne a little
The live in studio playthrough is great btw (also the only version I can watch, cause all the spinning of this music video makes me nauseous)
Haha yeah it’s a bit of a thrill ride.
