Hey Tim bro thanks for the great content bro but I got a suggestion for you bro if you want that cab to turn out absolutely slick like looking into a mirror wet sand the cab and sleeper with 2000 grit bro it will make a night and day difference but it's just a suggestion bro you are doing a great job bro just a idea I wanted to throw out your way and thanks again for the great content keep up the great work
Split rings are extremely dangerous bro you have to find a specialty tire changing company that is certified with a safety cage they break them down in bro for real for real it's what the old timers call widow makers
I'd put the regular wheels like you put on all your other trucks tim especially for your safety and Braxton going cross country with you and the way he and you both love trucks as much as yall do safety first bro man but it's your truck do what you want to do to it either way we all will stand behind you no matter what you decide to do to it have great one tim and brax
I CAN NOT wait to see this truck running and hauling freight again. Amazing rig!
Keep waiting not much happens fast around here… been waiting 2 years for a pump…
@@danwilson7776 well they do have a business to run, they dont have to give us content on the channel, they choose to
@@paddyici6629 dang I had no idea
@fsctrucking Steve I'm with you there I definitely can't wait to see it up an running as well
Hopefully Tim gets the turbo on it b4 you go to see him so you can take it for a rip, and get some nice shots with Orwell
If Rob comes down you need to set up a story time with Stan to do another livestream of trucking stories with stan, your pops and Rob
That would be awsome
Good to see the old Cat fire up so easy!
Don't listen to those guys saying those wheels are dangerous, they'll be fine! And they look Great! I think the nay-sayers might be confusing those 2 piece wheels with the old "widow maker" wheels which were joined in the middle. The only thing with these 2 piece wheels is make sure you use a cage when putting them on the rim, but if you make sure the rims are clean and damage free there won't be a problem.
You are supposed to use a cage for the new tubeless tires as well according to the manufacturers.
I ran, and changed, these old 2 piece and 3 piece rims for years and had no issues!
There were some problems with tube type tires however. The bias ply tires would always pound like a flat spotted tire until they got warmed up and if you got a flat the valve stem would fall into the tire and destroy the tire from the inside! To avoid that I always carried some small vise grips and if I had a tire getting soft, I would clamp the vise grip onto the valve stem with the plier laying flat to the wheel and go to wherever I could get it fixed. Even if it was totally flat the vise grip kept the tire from being ruined!
If you were going to be running this commercially I would say Definitely change them. But for a period piece show truck I would polish up those old aluminum tube types cause they are SWEET!
I do love the look of those split ring aluminum wheels but man are they hard to find good tires for and hard to find people to work on them
You can put a 12 volt 39MT on there and get rid of that series-parallel switch on the frame. The glow plugs should be held 30 seconds even if it’s 75 degrees out.
thank you tim and braxton for saving that ole girl white frieghtliner can't wait to see her go on the road safe travels y'all
The easy part is painting the time and HARD work is in the prepping for the paint the body work takes forever and a day.
You have come a long way since Braxton bought the Air Force truck. Congragulations and well done👍
It runs . I sure would put a screen over intake . So varmints n shop towels don’t get pulled in intake .. series parallel switch is energized when activated with ignition switch ! Hope explanation helps . I’d call u guys not walk u through this . Can’t speak anymore ,,cancer took thyroid and voice box . ! If it’s worth doin . It’s worth the wait ..Body work the smoother the body ,The better the paint job . It’s done when it’s done . I wouldn’t sweat it .. have a good one . 63 yrs of diesels tractors ,trucks ,locos ,
Congratulations on getting Johnny Cash The Cabover started and have it run for a bit! I think most of us fans are very understanding about what it takes to run a truck company and work on other projects that don’t earn money for the company. You have shown consistency in showing us you will get things done in time.
As always, thank you for sharing your video content on RUclips!
The power of prayer, Tim!
That would be awesome to see him see his old truck running please make that happen before he passes away
That service truck was such a blessing. When y'all changed out the first engine in your field we were all thankfull.
Welcome back to the 70s No front brakes was common back in the good old days
You could set the trailer for Johnny Cash as your merch trailer for when you go to truck shows, big show stopper
These projects take time, so i'd a lot to do to them like from sending the painting to the final product. And i'm saying this check your time do not rush
What does not break you, makes you stronger 💯👍
Thats so awsome to see J.C fire up after all these years. Anyone who thinks that beauty will be done super quick is nuts take your time and do it at your pace with your son pops and other family and friends. If i didnt live 8-10 hours away i would definitely help you guys out on weekends.thanks for another great video glad your surgery went well 👍🏼 see yall on the next live or video
Johnny Cash sounds Great
It's back to life after about 28Years
Yay starting another project that will never get finished. Good luck getting Westins truck done by march.
Tim I hope you can see it in your heart to move jc to the top of the pile so Stan can drive this truck before he can’t. I would also love to see a live Video with you Stan Rob and your Dad.
If Mr Stan was watching and saw this rig come to life again he probably got up and started dancing him a dig.
If it would be possible for Stan health wise & if he would be up for it, it would be awesome to set him up a place beside this truck at MAT’S an let him tell his story’s to us current and future drivers. I think it would be really interesting
That would be sweet
Can't wait till see this truck hauling
Just needed to thank you for how nice you have been to my brother Stan Harvey it made his day talking about trucking,he told me about about a year ago there was a video on here of you buying his rig but I couldn’t find it and about a week ago I was looking and found it and have been watching it every day now since GREAT SHOW.
Tim i done body work on trucks for years and it does take a lot of time to get it ready for a perfect paint job. Its a huge project on Westens truck. Then the shop burnt. Im so proud of how far yall have came in a year.
Can't wait to see it go down the road😊
@Gentryandsons I've been watching all of your videos since day one and they are very inspiring, also to see brax driving the trucks around is awesome. I was 8 yrs old when I started driving big rigs around my great grandfathers truck yard
Preparation is the key!
Tim I'm truly proud of you. You came a long way in a year. You did it and doing it. I'm proud of you
Keep your head up your doing great
I remember that the old man said it would sound like it was coming a part when it first started 😊
You are right its called a split ring system.
Tim I been a paint and collision man for over 30 years I’m here to tell you the prep work is time consuming and repetitive
But when your masked and painting is the reward makes all the sanding worthwhile Johnny Cash sounds great and you never had a doubt anything Rob has his had in as far as engines will be awesome look how rooster crows lol
I love driving trucks and started in aa 1984 like Orwell but in 1984 I we diving a new version an just getting started
So I’m getting to be an old dog too lol
Take care Tim and I am coming to MATS this year look forward to meeting you 😊
Beck in 1989 I started driving and I drove 1960’s through 1980’s 2axles lucky to have a seatbelt never powered steering. You learn quickly how to dock 45’s and 48’s trailers. Built some upper body strength. Lol 😂🎉
I know everyone poo poos on the old tube type lock ring rims but I've been dealing with them for years with no issues or fears. Where guys go wrong is when they're in a hurry to get a tire on and don't take the time to properly inspect and clean the ring and rim. I like to sandblast the mating surfaces if there's any rust buildup so when they go back together they actually lock like they're supposed to, any rust or dirt buildup creates a situation where the ring doesn't seat properly it will kick away from the rim instead of pulling together. When they're right they go together easy. When restoring an old truck it's nice to have the old style rims for the look, the biggest issue now is finding the tube type tires but they're still out there being made.
Those spit rims are pretty desirable in the antique truck world
Heck yea ol Johnny's awake 😁 watched the live it was a great one
we love you tim, sending hugs from the united kingdom
Can't wait to see this truck with the stainless reefer going down the road❤❤❤
its a series parallel switch you are correct it does the 24v magic for starting... get rid of it and put a gear reduction 12v starter on it and be happy.
Tim this is a late comment and you probably won't read it BUT really happy to hear that you are still in business. Plus Sooooo HAPPY to hear you say that your going back to work on the Cabovers and your projects that made your channel. Can't wait to see what happens this year with the Gentry Team building some awesome Trucks. GOD BLESS YOU Tim and Family 2024 is going to be your year Good Luck and don't hold back.
that has the best looking patina paint i would just leave it and make it run and drive good
Good job Gentry Family, Tim i got a new saying GODLY BUM thanks too you I think you need to put that on a Hoodie, hats, tshirts,& hardhats with pictures of your different semi trucks so we can purchase please? Tim and Braxton thanks for the video
Sweet you're at 246000 subscribers awesome my brother
Nice job Tim. Bring Johnny back whenever you can. I look forward to hearing that thing rip with a turbo. That is a real mean sound without.
Anyone that knows anything about 1693 Cats will tell you to throw the damn either cans away around a precombustion head engine and get the glow piugs working.
Im a true believer in everything happens for a reason. You may not know the reason so you may have to make up your own reason and capitalize off your own beliefs. Timmy your shop burning down may have been for the better because you would have never gotten rid of that old place. It could have been holding you back and you couldn't see it. You and your wife, your awesome ideas have got you a new beginning. Just keep on keeping on brotha. One Love God Bless
Can't wait to see it finished!
If you take those split rings off the antique guys will want them. For there old trucks. Great job as always
It’s called a series parallel switch engages with crank circuit for 24 v at stater when starter drops out it switches back to 12 v
Great content thanks for sharing
AMAZING JOB TIM AND GUYS.
Nice job.
Glad to see you posting on this rig for sure keep up the great work
Good job in running
I remember those wheel rims with the locking rings. They must be seated good when refitting and the tire inflated in a heavy gauge metal cage in case it comes apart. If the ring flys off it can near cut you in half or whoever else is in its flight path.
If the tires on it are sound and holding air they would be cool to have on if it were going to a show on a trailer. But for the road i would have a nice fat set of alloys.
Tim, all you guys are awesome and I love your content!! God Bless y'all and I hope this year is better for us all!!
Congratulations
That sure is a sweet sounding engine!!
Glad to see you still going hope you and your family have an awesome 2024 and look forward to the awesome videos you have installed for us in 2024 👍👍👍
That was a awesome video hope you all have a blessed night love you all 👍🙏❤️💯
I definitely remember that video that old guy sold you a cool truck and trailer 😎 love those cabovers.
Tim keep the wheels
Think of that ring as what it is a big snap ring as long as the ring is seated and not wore out rusty edges maybe even fill them in a cage after there apart
They not as dangerous as rear wedge wheels
I have been watching for a while now and I can't wait to see what you have planned for 2024
Good times very interesting 🤔 content. Really like the ole truck 🚛. Thanks for sharing 🙏.

Hey, I just want to say that price is a great kid he is he is got a lot of education behind him and then I could see him going places so you need to let him do the driving somewhat from what I could see. I can remember he was just a kid when I met him, so I love all the Conte keep sending the videos my way
Hi Tim all the way from Yorkshire England you and your family and your crew show how hard work can over come nothing I am like a cabover freak lol❤❤❤❤your content keep it coming she a good runner when you paint trucks are cars it's 95 precent prep 5 precent paint
You got more motor than you got truck still a classic Dont forget to turn off the key Have a great year and Be Safe
When I first started working on trucks in the late 80s, I got to see a lot of those old Cats.
I keep looking on your channel for one of the trucks I worked on.
This is fun stuff.
That cab over would be a nice show truck with the RGN hooked to it.
Heck yea brother were here for ya we understand its not a two week project yall do you thanks 🙏
It’s about time you did something with Johnny Cash!😀
I can't wait until you drive it
Awesome truck
Hi Tim Gentry and Sons and family
Yes those are split ring wheels Also known as widdow maker's
God bless you, everyone . I cannot wait for the new 24 , time is passing us too fast. We love you gugs. Keep Trucking Braxton, I wish I could back as soon as you.
Tell your father Tim hello and granddad, and all the crew Hello
No burnouts brax. Love to you all xx❤
loved to see JC going!! I'm excited for my 1972 Peterbilt 352 with its original 1693 I'm working on
Tim brother Man I’m just excited to see Johnny Cash finally running and that motor sounds like a beast. Hopefully you keep it like same colors because I totally dig it.
Johnny cash is gem tim
Tim awesome video I was there. The day you purchased the truck talk with the owner went through his house. He showed you the pictures of the truck and ham in his business. Awesome what you're doing can't wait to see the finish product
For not running 30 years it’s sounding like it was running yesterday 😊😊😊
So for the turbo oil lines you can have custom hydrolic lines made to replace the missing metal lines. May have to change a couple fittings but that should solve your problems
It's amazing to me when you can piece together an entire engine from someone's backyard and she comes to life as if she was shut off only yesterday. It just goes to show what kind of quality was built back in the days when trucking and being in the car was more hardcore because people didn't sit behind computers and knew how to use their hands to create machinery which proves time and time again of where we've forgotten the best things we ever made were here in America.
Tim for as much as Rob and SHTube do for you, you definitely need to help them out with their channel on RUclips 👍 stay blessed
Been a minute since i watched your channel! This video got my attention back. I remember watching you buy this truck. Now iam excitted to see the progress. Also heard you had another baby! Congratulations! Hope baby and momma are good.
That truck is so cool. All she needs is the turbo, exhaust, new lights, paint job, and some tubeless wheels & as well as some other mechanical odds and ends and it’ll be ready to go to work.
I'm glad to see Johnny Cash running can't wait to see what you guys do to it going to be a sweet truck
Great job professor!! This thing sounds great. Just wish I had been there when it fired up. Putting the turbo on it will be like the icing on the cake. Take care of that Cat, it will last forever.
