Homesteading: Going from Weeds to Lawn, Planting Grass in the Alleghenies

In this homesteading series, join Ricky as he plants his yard the old fashioned way with a rake and a shovel. Take back some pointers and tips on how to take your yard that has weeds and rocks in it, to beginning to grow.
After having a house built, we needed some grass. This was year 2 in a spot of yard that we didn't get around to during our first year there, there was just too much to plant. Unfortunately, the weeds over took, so we had the process of killing off the weeds as well. We will take you through burning weeds, raking, tilling, seeding, strawing and watering a lawn in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains.
We hope to inspire you to plant a lawn someday and watch how Ricky decided to do it!
