Unity was so complicated they had to optimize that, but they had a launch date. So they've fixed that after a month and they've continued fixing that. The main issue was the detail, all the pre-baked shadows, facial animations and OBVIOUSLY the massive number of NPCs... Like for real, still today, the number that you can see in front of the main Cathedral is so high. They even had to cut out some in-game online mechanics that you can see in gameplays. Why? NPCs... Lots of people today they still say with lots of games "wow the graphic", but the game is always static. When people say Ray Tracing I don't think about realistic shadows and reflexes, I think about moving objects with moving shadows, something in raster is very difficult. For example Unity has all these beautiful shadows in raster pre-baked because they had these massive details with this massive NPC count. Everything has a reason.
Unity was my favorite AC game for the parkour and customization. The custiomization was so crazy, so many different pieces of gear to mix and match and every color of the rainbow dye them. And the online support.

Unity, as well as all of the rest of the games for the OG xbox one, came from a special era of game design. Gaming was still primarily a console market, and the consoles at the time were kind of anemic compared to what we were capable of making and envisioning. So, game devs had to get creative. Core to this style of design was an emphasis on atmosphere of raw graphical fidelity. They understood that while these games would never look amazing up close, they could create something far greater than the sum of its parts. It baffle me that the Pre-AC: Origins games can have a massive city with countless NPC's with little to no framerate drop and/or glitches. Whereas most newer games with a, supposedly, better game engine cannot handle the same amount of NPC's.
Yeah about that
AC has literally gone to complete shit. The new games have their good, but they aren’t AC at all
Unitys npcs consistently pop in when running in streets to the point where npcs r appearing from thin air atleast 6 feet infront of you and its laughable. Played unity at launch with my xbox bundle and have replayed it in its “patched” state so dont try and pull the wool over my eyes or claim it “didnt happen to you” cause theres countless videos of the same thing occurring on all platforms with all different players.
@@Forty3Snakes I'm not talking about just Unity, but AC 1,2, and even 3 (I did say Pre-AC: Origins).
Unity’s map is significantly smaller but way more dense this is why I can’t wait for miraj possibly a unity second coming 😂
Arkarm knight and Unity were wayyyyy ahead of the curve.
Unity uses that baked lighting that modern open world games don't use anymore. It's all real time lighting with ray tracing now. Also it's baffling how much Forspoken looks asset-ey, like the games art director was sleeping on the job.
Raytracing is optional.
Few games use Raytracing as mandatory.
If any.
It will probably need 10+ more years to make it default in all games.
Agreed. It's like someone grabbed an asset pack from different stores and put it all together.
Every single game still uses baked lighting. Ray tracing is always optional
They definitely made the right choice with baked lighting, a beautiful mix of what was cutting edge graphics at the time and stunning art direction
Forspoken is just an awful game graphically and shouldn’t be showcased for ps5 graphics. If you compared unity to horizon forbidden west or ghost of Tsushima graphics you see how much more dated it really is. Still very beautiful game non the less. I hope forspoken just gets forgotten. It’s a smudge on square Enix record.
Should’ve had him walking in the sunlight instead of the dark. Arnos clothes always look so clean in the sunlight.
AC unity and Batman Arkham knight were so much ahead of their time 🗿
Factual...
Eh Arkham Knight was in 2015, and didn't look that good. It looked good, but the rain just gave the illusional of great graphics
They gave us a massive diamond and we spat in their face.
We did but we didn’t. Cuz many say it’s the best ac game so far.
Well, to be fair the diamond was covered in shit and it took them having to clean it for you to be able to tell it was a diamond.
@@-Nightingale😂😂
Same with Cyberpunk... because of bugs.
@@-Nightingale i love this analogy. Too bad they didn't take the time to clean it first.
It's weird. Everything about Unity feels rushed. It's too bad they didn't take an extra year to finish the story and fix the bugs. They could have released Rogue as a game in the main series that year, and just waited.
Unity will forever be known as the game is at age like fine wine
Unity was great for a playthrough. There was something about it that kept me from giving it another full playthrough, and I couldnt even try to tell you what it was. Graphically, the game was fantastic and still holds up well today, despite the 1080p resolution.
YES ARNO GETS THE RECOGNITION HE DESERVES. MA BOY ❤
Unity was always ahead of its time. Still of one the best stealth experiences imo
I hope they will make the game like Unity soon.
The only game like unity ubisoft will release in this century is unity remastered like they did with the og collection
@danikm10yt81And they would probably screw up the graphics instead with the sheer difference between their mindsets from back then and now where every game is just a rushed buggy game which is made as a cash grab
Unity looks great even after 9 years! Not many modern games can boast such a high-quality implementation of cities.
Unity is pure immersion, I close the HUD and just run on the rooftops. I tried to make a "Roofrunners" posse on PS4 but sadly it seems like every code is taken.
I always wished Ubisoft never got rid of their realistic graphics for the rpg Witcher type graphics.
Even rpg games are having realistic graphics while Ubisoft is stuck behind.
Unity was always an underrated goat for the ac games
Is underrated for sure
acu is one of the best looking games ever. on pc in 4k and maybe some shader, it looks bassicly like real life.
I loved unity the love story of him and Elise was brilliant the fact that a Templar grand master took him on and looked after him despite knowing his dad was an assassin was also really heart warming ... and in return arno wanted to clear his name and find out who was behind his adopted dad's murder again despite being on the side of the "enemy" because Arno looked beyond the conflict and saw only that this guy kept me off the street looked after me and kept me well fed! Loved it!
I’d say for the most part, Unity has aged like a fine wine
Gameplay wise yes but every thing else is pretty shit
@@maxaanensen everything in the game was perfect
@@Higgs870 Story, bugs?
@@maxaanensen The story was pretty good, all the bugs were fixed, I played for 100 hours and I didn't experience any bugs even once
@@Higgs870 Story Is bad, and just becuse you did not get any bugs does not mean they dont exist. Game is full of bugs and has bad performance. Gameplay and Paris is great but thats really it. If it was perfect it would not destroy the ac series like it did
Ps5 exclusive? I'm very sure this is on steam too, I remember because I wanted to buy it at first but then saw some reviews saying it was boring so I gave up on it
Yeah, seems like a cheap shot at PlayStation, i notice he didn't try and compare Horizon Forbidden West lol.
Yeah, dude is probably a Microsoft guy
Its really strange, games from 2014-2016 still look better than 2022-2023 console exclusives. Developers are definitely lazier now, I still dont get why people are impressed by game graphics these days, when the same graphics were present back in 2015.
Unity is gorgeous but whenever Arno speaks my blood pressure skyrocks
Indeed, he was apparently one of stealthiest assassins, but boy, he wasn't even close to being one of the smartest.
@@STarredNIghtlmao
Assassin creed brotherhood:”what have you done?”
Assassin creed unity:”I went for the graphics.” 🗿
After years of playing unity and the thanos meme was just too good 😂😂
Unity was one of the best ac ever made. It was ahead of its time the graphics were gorgeous.
Unity was great for me, I hated everyone for complaining and hating and now everyone loves it.
Can we get a unity and Hogwarts comparison
I loved unity. It felt like a mirror of Ezio’s journey. An assassin driven out of the creed to wallow in self pity and regret.
Unity was my favorite AC game for the parkour and customization. The custiomization was so crazy, so many different pieces of gear to mix and match and every color of the rainbow dye them. And the online support.
Unity - the last true Assassin's Creed
No syndicate was

I bought unity a week ago and its my fav game
Played Unity for the first time a few months after all the bugs were patched and had some of the best gaming memories of my life. Felt so badass, like a real assassin. Plus the multiplayer was a lot of fun
I want them to bring back unity’s detection system where your last known location is where the enemies would go. You could do some really cool and creative takedowns with that.
its in mirage
That “system” of AI is exactly what was implemented in AC mirage
Assassins Creed Unity is free on PlayStation plus right now 🙌🏼 just downloaded it
The only bug I got during playing AC:U was I couldn’t hear the swords clash. That was it. Game was still amazing
Unity was underrated.
AC unity dev accidentally overworked the graphics
2014 was the golden age for games and some of which still holds up graphics wise 10 years later
Ubisoft devs sure know how to make amazing environments. Take a look at all places in odyssey, syndicate, Origins, and the entire Watch Dogs trilogy.
YES THEY ARE WAY BETTER THAN ROCKSTAR.
@@kratugautam304 Rockstar just have a lot of easter eggs and details
@@poczujZbyszka Yes Also it is the most Greedy company on earth. Talking about details every games has it, Talking about Easter Egg AC Valhalla has more than any Rockstar Game. Only Game which i consider good from Rockstar is RDR2. You know they are making money because of blindfolded GTA kids. 😂🤑🤡
@@kratugautam304Rockstar is by far objectively(not subjectively) a better development company than Ubisoft. That’s just straight facts from majority of the gaming community. If your not ignorant you just know this. Now I love Ubisoft still. But they are 10x more greedy then rockstar. All their single player games in the past 5 years have micro-transactions. That’s greed. Yes gta 5 online can get expensive if you want but we’re talking single player aspects here. When you pay for a rockstar game you get the whole game. That’s why games like Elden ring will always be superior to any Ubisoft game because when you buy the game you get the whole package. You don’t need to dish out another $15.00 if you want a cool skin. I already payed $80 for your game. Give me the whole game. But that’s why rockstars games are 9.5/10. They make special games every few years. Where Ubisoft is okay with making like 10-15 7/10 games in those same years. Ubisoft makes those mediocre games that are just mindless fun every now and then. They lack character. All the menus on the games are basic play the same as well. Feel very unoriginal when I play Ubisoft games. Like a bunch of clones. And that’s a common opinion among the gaming community bro.
@@joshwaterman5526 Rockstar is worst game development company who have toxic people to support and that toxic people forces the game raters to rate it high. That toxic people are gta fanboys objectively. Also only Rockstar game which i consider above Mediocre is rdr2 rest are kids timepass game who do timepass in gtas. Also Rockstar's file corruption, antixbox and pc attitude makes them inferior to Ubisoft who treats nintendo, xbox, playstation equally. Every Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs and Far Cry are better than Elden Ring is just too empty with bullshit environment also, it is not even close to witcher 3 which has 1000 of npcs, great town and everything. Rockstar is the most controversial game studio and their behavior is bad. They took 8 years to make rdr2 and whereas most of the assassin's creed where made in span of 1 year i guess. And ubisoft games has good concepts. Rockstar forces you to buy gta trilogy definitive by removing OGs. Whereas some bugstar fans complain about micro transactions. I never used them cause they are optional and ubi never forces anyone. Only Rockstar game is good is rdr2 and Ubisoft's AC, Far Cry, Watch Dogs(better than GTAs objectively.) also they works on different projects like Mario Rabbid Kingdom ,Immortal Phoenix Rising, Skull n Bones, Avatar. Ubisoft is So Cool.
But Toxic Game Community says AC RPGs are far from roots and AC Mirage is not so unique as it similar to its roots. That is Even without playing. Rockstar is Cash Grabbing company they never listens to their fans, they are currently not working on any game except gta online. They earns from gta online atleast twice if we add every micro transaction of every games of ubisoft.
Toxic People says that ubisoft games are same. But Rockstar games are so same, their mechanics, gameplay everything also map in gta 4, gta 3, gta LCS and gta SA, gta 5 and gta VC, gta VCS. They can't make completely new map how in the world they are better. They use tactics of absence which increases their game value and nothing. They are Mass Manipulators. They Releases Same Game GTA 5 in PS3, PS4 and PS5. And Still toxic game community believes that ubisoft is doing copy paste because they can't accept ubisoft is making such great games in almost 1-10% of development time than Rockstar. In GTA5 most of the map is not city.
It’s not just that Unity aged well, it’s that Forspoken sucks.

We need a unity 2
I started playing unity recently because I was never really into assassins creed, so looking at it objectively that game is so much fun and looks so good
Unity didn't deserve the hate. Spoiled, entitled fans can truly make devs second guess themselves.

The memorable ezio auditores theme it just… fits so well and does brought to my eyes~
Im playing every assassins creed in release order and right now im playing unity. This is by far my favourite one because it looks so amazing
Played the shit out of Unity when it came out. It's my favorite gameplay and graphics wise. AC1 is nostalgia wise. AC2 is story wise.
I actually had unity for a while and I started playing it again this weekend and it’s amazing. I beat the story missions in like three maybe four days
I remember Unity's parkour feeling so much better and more real than the other AC games, I also never really experienced any bugs or glitches while playing so I had a ton of fun while playing.
Cinematic feel in Unity is outworldy! What a technology!

I always loved Unity and I'm glad people are finally seeing what I have being seen for all these years.
Unity is the only game i played for months even after completing story and side missions. I would just roam around. It felt so real.
Been begging for a remaster for so long
AC Unity has been my favourite for absolute years and only now people are waking up to it
Its crazy how shading can hide a lot of the uncanny valley
Unity was my first ac game. My parents bought my brother and I an Xbox for our birthday that year and I got Unity and he got Forza. I’m still a huge fan of Unity and the franchise
It's usually less a matter of graphical ability, and more a matter of art direction. Good art direction can make even old games from the PS2 and PS3 eras hold up today.
Unity always was my favorite. Even with the bugs the multiplayer was peak and they need to do it again with the new ones
It's easier to bring up older software to new levels of performance, but the same can't always be said for similar brand new programs from the same year
Unity was one of the first games I got for my Xbox One. I think it was like the third game I got, a few years after its release, and most of the bugs had been patched at that point and I loved the game. A few things I’d change but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I had heard
Ac unity was one of the longest projects that ubisoft was making. It started around revalations then released exclusively for the next gen which was ps4 and xbox one
Playing Assassins Creed Unity on my PS5 and man I’m loving it so much!!
Such an amazing game, beautiful, and the world seems alive. The combat is awesome too.
I always really liked Unity. Glad to see people coming around on it.
Dude people destroyed Unity and that was my first AC game. I actually enjoyed it. It was also really good looking for such an old gsme
when I first got ac unity I was blown away by how it looks
I haven't been by any other game until I played resident evil 2 remake
Even with the bugs and stuff pure graphic wise unity was ahead of its time
I loved Unity from the start, it was actually the second game I even platinum’d
Unity to this day is still my favourite assassins creed. Never had any bugs and was so fun
Brought the game last night started playing today it’s the only ac I haven’t played but so far I’m loving the gameplay mechanics. The parkour is perfect and so is combat.
Forespoken looks like when you just load in and the textures haven’t loaded yet but they just stay like that
Unity, as well as all of the rest of the games for the OG xbox one, came from a special era of game design. So they focused on how it all tied together, and the games that came out are, to this day, some of the most aesthetically pleasing we have had the pleasure to see. Those really were the days, man.
Im in the middle of my first playthrough of unity. Definitely a fantastic game. Cant wait to finish it and get into syndicate.
