Served in the Marines for 10 years and have always been in the Logistics field as far as work goes but after a car wreck earlier this year I truly have been searching for a new career but its discouraging because I just turned 30 years old. I've watched a few of your videos but I am finally going to move forward with the google cert and the blue team lvl 1 cert. I'm subscribed and will continue to watch for new information. Im so hyped to jump into this career. I scheduled my CC ISC2 exam in August.
This just brought tears to my eyes cuz it’s like you were talking directly to me 😢 this is EXACTLY where I’m at- a beginner suffering from imposter syndrome, thinking about collecting every cert under the sun like all of CompTIA, CCNA, all the cyber certs under the sun.. like it overwhelmed me to the point where I said maybe I’ll just settle for data analytics or IT project management which are great fields but not where my heart is. A RUclipsr named Day also recommended Blue team but since it was just him talking about it and it didn’t show up on a lot of HR job postings I said it must not be worth it. Long story short, you gained a new subscriber in me and im so thankful for your professional and encouraging message!
@@GameHackingGuru I think it depends where you live. I'm from Brazil and here international certifications ( CompTIA , CCNA, AWS and others ) have curriculum weight. I think the biggest problem at the moment is the fact that the market is flooded with professionals (many overqualified due to layoffs). I'm trying to get into the field (I have an associate degree in Database + certifications and extracurriculars) through the support sector and most jobs have between 2 and 6 thousand applicants, even if you have an extremely above average education is likely to be out of a job because there are people with similar training but with practical experience competing... I think it's time to continue studying to be able to surf the next wave that should come with the end of the recession (who knows when this shit ends)... PS: I looked at vacancies in other areas and realized that competition is also brutal due to the economic moment..

I love these videos. I started the Google cyber security course yesterday and was so discouraged after reading reddit threads on people who cant find a job with a BS and years of experience. I almost quit right there. But then videos like this gave me a lot of hope and motivation. Buying a laptop today to start this journey
Just had my first SoC analyst tech exam for an interview. Was the hardest exam I've taken coming from just a degree and S+. Blue team level one would have def given me a fighting chance in passing it. So this is probably the best route to go about this path, dont sleep on this man.

I've been in my HelpDesk role for about a year and I was so focused on getting the A+ certification just to have it on my CV before I go for Network+ that I kinda lost my 'why'. My end goal is to be in cybersecurity threat hunting and eventually pentesting so I assumed that I needed all these certs and know networking 100% before I even went for those certifications but now watching your video I'm definitely going to go for the Google Certification then Blue Team instead of the A+, Network+ and Security +. Skills are more important than the number of certifications you have on your CV. Thank you again!

honestly this video is GOLD, im one of those who would keep stacking up certs they want to obtain but get discouraged even before they take their 1st step. well, i threw away my list of certs i "Needed" and now im taking security+ ONLY (I've been wanting to take it for 2 years now but never took action) soo, thank you so much
I have 30 years of IT experience in Unified Communications and have never needed a certification to get a job, my experience has been enough. I am thinking of switching to CyberSecurity and hopefully into a more management type position. What certifications would you recommend for me? straight to CISSP or should i start with foundational certs?
@@jahloveinfla honestly it depends entirely what field in cyber security are you interested in. CISSP might be a good start as it’ll give you a broad introduction to various domains but it won’t give you any tangible skill. Again, it really depends on what you wanna do and what you already know

I enrolled for the Google cert before seeing your video, and when I had finished the 3rd course, I really started to believe that the Google cert was not worth it, and I was searching for all the cyber security certs that are available. And second - please, would you share your opinion about is there an age, considered too late for getting a first job in cyber security? If you have a Master degree and then - a PhD degree; if you are trained to learn constantly an enormous amount of information, analyse it and make important conclusions + you love to read, learn and analyse; if you realise that cyber security is the work you want to spend your life with; if you are coming from a very, very different area /for example Art/ ; and other "ifs" ...Is 48 years extremely too late for a career change and too bold to try to step into the field of cybersecurity? It's not too late, you have a lot of transferrable skills and life experience that's very valuable - BUT, a career change is difficult at any age, so you'll need to put in a lot of time and effort to build your skills. In Washington DC Metro you got to have the Security+ if you don't have the other ones. I like the Google Cyber Security Professional Certificate/ Comptia Security+ combination.

Wow YT algorithm is insane. I got my sec+ and google cert but haven’t really applied too much jobs cause I felt unprepared and also didn’t know which learning path to invest my time in. Will start blue team level 1 and apply to more jobs! Appreciate the content!

I am doing a degree in Cyber Security. I just started. I work full time, long hours in an unrelated field. It is easier in the UK to get funding for a degree, but it'll take 6 years. I'm in my 40s. My plan is to do certs as well but I have no idea how I'll fit the learning in...I have reached out to a cyber security team at work & they are making the time to meet with me to discuss how to get into the field. I am so grateful to them...

Im so hyped to jump into this career. I scheduled my CC ISC2 exam in August.

This just brought tears to my eyes cuz it’s like you were talking directly to me 😢 this is EXACTLY where I’m at- a beginner suffering from imposter syndrome, thinking about collecting every cert under the sun like all of CompTIA, CCNA, all the cyber certs under the sun.. like it overwhelmed me to the point where I said maybe I’ll just settle for data analytics or IT project management which are great fields but not where my heart is. A RUclipsr named Day also recommended Blue team but since it was just him talking about it and it didn’t show up on a lot of HR job postings I said it must not be worth it. Long story short, you gained a new subscriber in me and im so thankful for your professional and encouraging message!

I think it depends where you live. I'm from Brazil and here international certifications ( CompTIA , CCNA, AWS and others ) have curriculum weight.
I think the biggest problem at the moment is the fact that the market is flooded with professionals (many overqualified due to layoffs). I'm trying to get into the field (I have an associate degree in Database + certifications and extracurriculars) through the support sector and most jobs have between 2 and 6 thousand applicants, even if you have an extremely above average education is likely to be out of a job because there are people with similar training but with practical experience competing...
I think it's time to continue studying to be able to surf the next wave that should come with the end of the recession (who knows when this shit ends)...
PS: I looked at vacancies in other areas and realized that competition is also brutal due to the economic moment..

I love these videos. I started the Google cyber security course yesterday and was so discouraged after reading reddit threads on people who cant find a job with a BS and years of experience. I almost quit right there. But then videos like this gave me a lot of hope and motivation. Buying a laptop today to start this journey

Just had my first SoC analyst tech exam for an interview. Was the hardest exam I've taken coming from just a degree and S+. Blue team level one would have def given me a fighting chance in passing it. So this is probably the best route to go about this path, dont sleep on this man.

I've been in my HelpDesk role for about a year and I was so focused on getting the A+ certification just to have it on my CV before I go for Network+ that I kinda lost my 'why'. My end goal is to be in cybersecurity threat hunting and eventually pentesting so I assumed that I needed all these certs and know networking 100% before I even went for those certifications but now watching your video I'm definitely going to go for the Google Certification then Blue Team instead of the A+, Network+ and Security +. Skills are more important than the number of certifications you have on your CV.

I have 30 years of IT experience in Unified Communications and have never needed a certification to get a job, my experience has been enough. I am thinking of switching to CyberSecurity and hopefully into a more management type position. What certifications would you recommend for me? straight to CISSP or should i start with foundational certs?
@@jahloveinfla honestly it depends entirely what field in cyber security are you interested in. CISSP might be a good start as it’ll give you a broad introduction to various domains but it won’t give you any tangible skill. Again, it really depends on what you wanna do and what you already know

I enrolled for the Google cert before seeing your video, and when I had finished the 3rd course, I really started to believe that the Google cert was not worth it, and I was searching for all the cyber security certs that are available. If you have a Master degree and then - a PhD degree; if you are trained to learn constantly an enormous amount of information, analyse it and make important conclusions + you love to read, learn and analyse; if you realise that cyber security is the work you want to spend your life with; if you are coming from a very, very different area /for example Art/ ; and other "ifs" ...Is 48 years extremely too late for a career change and too bold to try to step into the field of cybersecurity?

It's not too late, you have a lot of transferrable skills and life experience that's very valuable - BUT, a career change is difficult at any age, so you'll need to put in a lot of time and effort to build your skills.

I am doing a degree in Cyber Security. I just started. I work full time, long hours in an unrelated field. It is easier in the UK to get funding for a degree, but it'll take 6 years. I'm in my 40s. My plan is to do certs as well but I have no idea how I'll fit the learning in...I have reached out to a cyber security team at work & they are making the time to meet with me to discuss how to get into the field. I am so grateful to them...
