From '82 - '86, Geoff's voice was other worldly. Never has anyone demonstrated that power, range, energy, and stage presence of those early tours. One of Metals mount Rushmore singers along with Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, and the late Ronnie James Dio.
Woah sound quality is really good Geoff at his prime effortlessly hitting every single note , arguably the greatest heavy metal singer . Thanks for the upload .
I believe him to be (within in his prime years and a few years after) the greatest male vocalist of all time This is a true live version of this song. The other one going around with them in Japan is actually the studio audio. If you listen to the studio version closely and then listen to the other supposed live video, you don't hear a live recording. This video here is a true live recording
I hesitate to disagree with you but . . . in your statement there are a few unnecessary words and a couple of missing words. For example, I would use "inarguably" and I'd leave out "heavy metal" but I'd add an acronym. It might go like this: Geoff Tate was inarguably the greatest vocalist of my generation OR G.O.M.T. (Greatest Of My Time). In the nearly 60 years I've been alive, there has not been a vocalist like him. No Whistle Tones just a powerful, layered E5 that is laser sharp and warm at the same time. I hope you realized at the beginning that I was harmlessly teasing. Also, if you liked the sound her, check out - Queensryche Take Hold Of The Flame Live in Tokyo 1984. I have the whole concert on DVD. Boy can I ramble on. Sorry. I feel very strongly about this subject. Cheers, Paul (a year late).
That Tokio live actually was real live, but crowd wasn't added in mix after the recording. You can hear mistakes there, they always reduce in studio versions.
Yes, that was soundboard recording without the crowd (you can barely here it there) added there. As I suppose it was published "as it is" without any production with all mistakes.
It's your opinion. In reality they were an unstoppable band. Queensrÿche at the time were the unforgettable guitar riffs and solos of Wilton & DeGarmo, the incredible rhythm section of Jackson & Rockenfield and with unique voice of Tate there was no match on the metal scene
@@quattro4s Not just my opinion. Queensrÿche did not get a record contract until Tate joined them. Before then nobody was interested in the band at all. The labels saw that Tate was a star and he was the personality of the band along with DeGarmo. Without him they would have gone nowhere
I grew up in Seattle and was privileged to see some of the earliest QR shows ever. This brings a tear to my eye and chills… this is Seattle way before grunge and Kurt Cobain
The first time I saw them live out of about 25 as of today... Wings stadium is 10 minutes from my house and I was huge huge huge into Queensryche ever since I bought "the warning" first before the EP.... The day I bought rage for order I just drove my car and listen to it about 4 times from beginning to end completely mezmorized at the advancement in sophistication that was already incomparable I love ACDC but I was there to see Queensryche..... Not the same animal but I saw Queensryche open for Judas priest last year at wings stadium 37 years later.... Apparently I am an old man
Got to be best metal singer of all time. I do quite a lot singing and think I'm still improving but there are notes that Geoff Tate reaches effortlessly that I'll never get close to pulling off.
Perfect Geoff🙆♀️it is Queensrych, no under..💤Yesterday… a DUETwith RAY Gillen, we’re possibly and so wonderful, thems voices identifies 👌Greatly Geoff, a pleasure always 2023, listen Him♥️🙆♀️
Awesome video! One of my favs. Saw them at Cobo Hall in Detroit for the Warning tour open for Kiss and they were incredible then as well. Thanks for sharing and just subscribed.
Holy Shit Balls ! This is off an old school 80s camcorder...and he sounds amazing -- as usual ! Plus, support bands get such crap lighting... I can imagine AC/DC lead singer going, "Finally the last show...enuf of following THAT voice !"
Sad but also so good i seen the magic of the Ryche in this and earlier era..
This version is on par with Tokyo 1984. My god they were out of this world!!
I think you're right. Better lighting and production value on 84, but Tate might actually sing it better here... just wow...
I think this one is better
Unreal voice ! Tate came from another planet

The Tokyo music video overdub is the studio version. But, the soundboard audio over the full live show “movie” is live, one hundred percent.

I love love Queensryche Geoff Tate what a voice!!!!
Geoff Tate is magic
Wow. just Wow. Geoff hitting those E5's spot on, band plays an airtight song. can't look at this enough.
Rockenfield is such a badass drummer
4:58 Chris giving his soul as in every performance!
Man I miss concerts like this too bad the kids if today will never see great bands like this live
Thanks for posting this one ... no effects, just a band killing it with Geoff in his prime - unbelievable generational talent.
Those jumps...damn what a voice. Drums are the good shit too 🤘🤘
Domo arigato, Sensei
Once in a lifetime talent!
Now this IS Queensryche🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Love this song!!!❤ It speaks to me...😊
Pure magic, saw them a year later in the uk, absolutely amazing 🤟🤟🤟
Soooooo good
THE VOICE!
Tate was just pure x factor in every way. Voice, looks, style, presence etc. The whole package. Band just has nothing to offer without him...

How they were barely ever an arean headline band I'll never know. I'd think most bands would be afraid to go on after that.
Awesome video! One of my favs. Saw them at Cobo Hall in Detroit for the Warning tour open for Kiss and they were incredible then as well. Thanks for sharing and just subscribed.
This is at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, last concert I saw before moving to Phoenix. Queensryche and AC/DC
Wow
Geoff has the voice of real life Master Exploder He does not need a microphone His voice is f#ckin POWERFUL. 😂
Whoa. Who is backing him up on vocals for the "Make it stay " part????? Must be Degarmo
I think it’s Eddie.
DeGarmo.
Chris DeGarmo... Geoff had the entire band learning from Maestro David Kyle....
No one can touch this. Not even Freddie Mercury.
They're not worth comparing. Two very different styles of rock singing.
I was at this show
Esto es una joya !!

Chris DeGarmo Was/IS QWEENSRYCHE.
