992 GT3 Touring’s are so amazing, love the timeless way the 992 GT3’s design comes together…..a modern classic if ever there was one 🥰
You are such a marvel of mankind!
Suck up 😂
Nick or the GT3?
@@danI43541 depending on the point of view 😄
I'd drop the PTS paint and just have Gentian Blue Metallic. I'd also drop the Leather and Fabric interior and stitching extras. The Rear lights I'd leave standard as well.
Excellent review and comparison of two fabulous 911 gt3 versions
Thank you Nick and thank you to the owners of these amazing sports cars for letting you drive them for us.
make it three Nick. I hear there is a another blue one in the vicinity
GT3 Touring video, awesome. Now gotta have Nick's take on the 992 T.
Lovely to see, sounds amazing too, thanks Nick, and owner 👍🏁👏
Nick in new cars makes me always feared about upcoming electronic Gremlins. I quite like the simple dark-blue color. Looks way better than I thought. Great Video!
I wish the touring had like a duck-bill-esque fixed spoiler.
Buy a regular one, remove the wing. Do wonder if this will affects high speed stability.
or rear seats..
Aftermarket probably… for the 991.2 they exist
ok… but a regular one does not have the fantastic cup derived engine, which is what one wants in a GT3
Yes… that’d be perfect!!
Great videos Nick. Most confused by the market's preference for the Touring. If you want a track car, the regular GT3 is significantly better by providing over 200 pounds more downforce. I cannot envision trading my 991.2 GT3 for a Touring (even without the ridiculous "market" price difference - absent the fortunate few with an allocation). I will remain a satisfied wanker with a wing. As for the GT3 as a daily, I have used the GT3 as a daily when the 991.1 Targa 4S is in the shop, but it is a bit much for the city. The GT3 is a beast and commands a lot of attention. I love to drive, but some days traffic is awful, other drivers are being crazy, and/or I just want to cruise. And don't get me started on speed bumps where it feels like the GT3's rear wheels have zero travel unless you are crawling/inching forward. Can't count how many times people have honked at me for going too slow over speed bumps/pot holes/metal street covers. The race suspension and light and tight steering of the GT3 is no fun on those days. I prefer the forgiveness of the Targa as a daily. Also, the naturally aspirated aspects of the 991.1 Targa provides a nice linear response and has a wonderful exhaust note (when the sport exhaust is engaged). Yes, the Targa is heavy and not in the same league as the GT3 from a performance perspective, but it is still a wonderful sports car and a great daily. If you love the feel and sound of a naturally aspirated and want to use it as a daily, my vote is for a 991.1 Carrera variant, or earlier.
Agreed.
I agree
Some people want the essence of a GT3 without quite a hardcore experience or boyish aero packages, while also having the amazing 4.0.
Yay!!! Finally the GT3 Touring! The only 992 I like. Insanity! The most likeable RUclips channel for Porsche enthusiasts! PS: Your background music for your videos is classic! :D
Good to see a Kiwi doing these reviews (I am in Oz), and only recently discovered your channel.
As for the Touring.....tried getting one, but as you stated it is hard to get an allocation. So got a winged version. However, I do not like the rear wing on the touring and had plans to change it to a ducktail (aftermarket CF one made in germany). Other than that, great car and great review. Still very happy with my winged version.
What a color and what an engine! And the giggles, of course... 0:20
Nick knows how to slip on down to the oasis, he's got friends in the right places...no high wings or whiskey, just Porsches , dogs and apes to chase his blues away. 🤘
That is simply a beautiful machine!
I would drive this every day, no problem. Dream car. Thanks for sharing Nick.
Lovely Touring. It’s Dark Sea Blue / Meer Blau.
Correct!
One of my absolute favourites. Not surprising. Getting one would be.
18-ways and a manual = Proper Spec
@@brianhimmelman420 You've never used a bucket seat daily I'm going to assume
It's fun for a couple of hours the first day then you remove them
Wow the options pricing is so insane.
Enjoyed this Nick. Great attention to detail.
The dash edge finish is a nod to early aircooled 911’s where there was a dash trim panel in plated (heat embossed) ‘plaited leather’ trim. 👍
You have the best damn videos. I truly look forward to these.
Nice video as always, loving the 35mm shots. I wish Porsche made a extra comfort setting on each model to make the ride extra comfy when you want it, I’m sure the tech is possible.
Tbh not a huge fan of that paint color, especially not compared to some of the other PTS blues on offer. Looks ok from far away, but a little bland up close, almost like a blue version of all those tired flat greys that are currently en vogue.
Needs just a bit of sparkle or color "depth" to make it pop.
Albert blue. Love it !
PTS dark sea blue A5G - what a beautiful car!
This...right now...is THE ULTIMATE drivers car. Manual with amazing steering feel, amazing sound!
We just want the GTS vs S video Nick. Release it already you tease.
My local dealer has a couple of these for sale in the showroom...they are out there.
Great video Nick, clean and quick, Like a GT3.
Great spec - just a beautiful car with epic engine. GT3 for weekend and TurboS for daily duties = perfect garage.
Never change Nick 🙂
So it may have a 200k sticker price with options, but let's be real, the actual selling price is likely closer to 300k... GT3T have earned a reputation of a discount 911R, and there is certainly a demand in the market driving that price premium.
One thing I think about the touring is that the lack of downforce on the rear end allows for slightly softer spring rates and thus a slightly better ride for the street.
The 992 GT3 touring actually has the same high-speed downforce as the regular GT3.
@@sitronost I don't think this is the case (and I cannot see how it can be the case given the sheer size of the wing on the regular GT3. The reports that I have seen indicate that touring has less down force. But, then, I could be wrong
@@sitronost This is untrue, although the Touring actually has close to 0 lift or perhaps even negative lift due to the active rear wing and gurney flap. The GT3 creates a significant amount of net downforce
The downforce is different but the spring rate is the same.
for a second I thought I was looking at the thumbnail for the previous GT3 touring vid you did from 3 years ago 🙂
My PTS guess is #155289 - medium cyan blue of the Sunoco logo, sampled from the Penske 917/30 that Donohue drove. Tough to tell in the light, but I think so bc of the yellow accents. If it really is, then it’s well worth the 12k in my book.
No it's Dark Sea Blue
Aaaahhhh ... a few minutes of joyful escapism
The Deep Sea Blue (?) looks amazing
correct
Great video Nick; keen observations as usual. I think Porsche should have a softer, more compliant suspension with the touring package. Touring implies grand touring which implies driving cross country.
‘’Yeah, I like to fly below the radar’’…….cough…cough….Kermit green soccer sled. WTF Nick
Albert Blue - The same PTS I have on my Spyder. Had a Gentian Blue (too much purple hue).. Albert Blue side-by-side is NIGHT and DAY different. Not all Pantones are created equal. Look at Grey... PS - Have a GT3T BRG (British Racing Green) sitting at the port of Emden..
Meerblau (dark sea)
Definitely needs running in. Andreas P of Weissach did say that these engines need to be run in properly prior to high rpms.
I have a feeling this PTS is Albert Blue. If I recall correctly, Manaus is close in saturation, but much more green than purple.
Edit: Nevermind, I googled Albert Blue, it's more blue and lighter than I remembered.
Second guess, Dark Sea.
we want to see Carrera T!
Dark Sea Blue is lighter and more beautiful than is shown on Rennbow. I would have guessed the PTS was Albert Blue, but that is actually lighter. Thanks for clearing that up. Now, back to pointless PTS configurations, this time with Dark Sea Blue.
perfect car. a reason to work hard and make a bunch of money in life
Love the gorillas comment on the lux rear seats. If you make it to the west coast you can drive my 991.1S, 958.2 TTS and macan S if you want to film or taking twisties by the ocean.
The giant wing is what makes a GT3 a GT3. A GT3 without a wing is like a viper without fangs.
I would agree, except that the standard GT3 wing is too obnoxious. I’d prefer something more understated on the Touring, maybe a ducktail or an aerokit wing. No wing at all makes it a bit too boring for a $200k MSRP car.
Love love
GREAT COLOR!!🔥🔥🥇🥇
This is wonderful
I agree I would take this over the regular GT3, looks sleeker and more for the road. I'm torn between this car or the McLaren Artura.
Unobtanium in Europe at this moment. I know clients that have a long history with their Porsche Centers (going back as far as ordering 928 GT from them) and even they are having troubles securing an "allocation".
Nick, for a Carrera T, shark blue or racing yellow? Thank you. Of course, Race Tex only on the roof and no interior trim inlays in exterior color :D
18-ways are 60 lbs heavier than the 4-ways; even more of a difference when compared to the full bucket seats (not sure of the exact figure for that one).
Yeah I much prefer the touring with it's understated looks. Iv never been a fan of the chav spoiler on the original package.
Take the wing off if you are not a fan
He spec’d it really well.
... and got bent over while doing it.
Been waiting for this!! Giggle.
I do like you classic intros sir … always a good start 👍
…
And like I said before sir, to much power and to fat a arse, for this beauty 😂
How about a review of the new 911 T? Looks to me the most fun car to own all aspects considered.
That car is totally and utterly Cool & The Gang 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Nick. Can you respond with the actual PTS color and put an end to all the guessing?
Nice One Nick 👍
Consistent Nick wow haha. This gen must be the edgiest looking 911 with those prominent sharp lines . 991 was more rounded
Yup. “Howls” good for starters. But add “Twisties” to the “Howls” and you’ve got true “Thrills n’ Chills”. Pricing is a little tiresome. But you’ve got a great vibe, man. Thanks
Perfect for your octogenerian dentist who will never bring it to the track.
Another great video Nick! William does not look as happy in the car tho. His nose is stuck to the back of the driver’s seat. Give gorilla more space!
A lot of gorilla suffering unfortunately
For all considering ordering a Porsche, cars are being delivered to the dealers complete but short simple components such as amps. My Turbo GT was delivered 3 weeks ago early Nov 2022. Dealers can’t deliver incomplete cars, so my car will sit on the dealer lot for an estimated 2 months awaiting a Burmeister amp, late Jan 2023. Very frustrating. Just saying, curb your expectations
It has your blue color, it has a manual and a 4.0 natural aspirated engine, why don't you buy it Nick?
A regular GT3 with the wing removed looks way better than the GT3 Touring, IMO. Rear end of the Touring is way too close to the rear of a Carrera.
Nik can you make a video on the cost of bringing a car to the track? would you bring your own GT3, or would it get “ruined”?
I don’t get those owners who don’t want the wing. If you wanted subtle, why not get the turbo.
I know the Tourings are “ coveted” but it loses the gt3 feel without wing
As a an owner of a Gentian blue 911 I thought I was looking at that color. Seems like a waste of a PTS expense to have it so close to Gentian Blue.
What is Albert Blue for one thousand nick.
Love it!
Hi Nick, Another fantastic video release of a car to dream of - beautiful and sounds right. Is the PTS Golf Blue?
I’d like to know what color as well.
Break in is 1500km or 932 miles. According to Andreas Preuninger … & it’s the only 911 to buy . Imo
Very nice
Beatiful car
Is this plain non met dark blue!? Wowwww
Wing or no gt3
I wish the GT3 would have the touring colored matched front nose. Or at least make it an option to have it in Carbon. I hate that big black piece of plastic.
It’s Dark Sea Blue!
happymondays💝
i Don't like the look of this wing wenn it's up
so i would have TechArt or RUF create a fixed ducktail
they have done this for previous models
RUF even had a ducktail that fitted just under an opend rearwindow of a Targa
(still the one i prefere ^^)
I agree it looks terrible. When it’s up there should be an option to prevent it going up unless you get above a certain speed say 100 miles an hour.
Hypothetical scenario: You already have a Murcielago lp640 (egear) and a 550 Maranello, with a Cayenne turbo for daily duties and winter. You want a manual Porsche and prefer the looks of the 991's over the 992, and do not plan to track either vehicle. Do you go for the more visceral .2 GT3 with a stick or the more civilized GTS? Would the latter leave you thinking "damn I wish this rev'd to 9k", or would its amenities and more usable torque make up for it, even with a grand tourer (550m) already in the stable? Cheers!
I would get a Carrera S or Carrera T over a GTS or GT3 any day. More drivable, more fun and more usable as a daily.
I hope your passenger in the back did not get car sick as I did when having a short ride in a friends 997
Had to watch the first 23 secs 4 times just to take in what was going on, and take in the noise too. If I had one id get the nostrils done in body colour to hide them a bit, they didn't show to much on that colour.
Hi everyone. I am going to get a set of Bilsteen Evos and want to setup my 992 4s to GT3 ride height touring spec. Would someone please be cool enough to measure the front and rear ground to wheel well arch and post those precise measurements on post here please?Should only take a minute, many thanks!!! 😊
damn i want a touring
Hey 911, only a couple of years and im coming to buy u❤️
Thanks Nick. I love the car. How many months/years between order and delivery?
"Silly wing on the back" you didn´t say that right?
What color is that? You didn’t mention it that I heard.
most analog 911 if money was not an issue- 911 GTS, Touring or GT3 touring ???
The question is: What is the most daylie driver Porsche coupe ?!
Best looking carrera model, but the touring should have the sport suspension not gt3 suspension to make it more suitable for... touring!
Than go for Carrera S. Comfortable car with enough power and allows you to have some fun !
This isn’t a carrera model, it’s a GT3 touring, hence the title
SUMMARY: (designer, architect, pilot here )
Exterior: front bumper inferior to base model; rear bumper is inferior to base model. Base model looks "cleaner" and classier .
Interior. Compare to base model GT3 is worse in this regards: interior noise; ride feel; less fun to drive (doesn't have automatic)
Conclusion: get a base model, just make sure to get the 'chrono package" and noise insulated glass windows
You're welcome ;)
Would you really go "touring" in this GT3 Touring? It does seem quite noisy inside.
It seems if one could only have one 911 and you desired to track it, daily drive it and drive cross country, a base, T or S would be your car. All of those would be better all around cars. The percentage of time spent on a track is typically minuscule compared to time spent daily driving. There is no way I would choose to drive a GT3 cross country. I own a 991.1 GT3 and have driven it 5-7 hours in a day before-ouch. You feel every expansion joint, every Subaru WRX wants to race you, the wing begs police to pull you over and forget about enjoying music or talking hands free on the phone. It is a gift from God on the circuit though, which is its main purpose.
So why isn’t it a good DD? Suspension too stiff? Not enough low end torque? Too much wind noise?
