A lot of religious people are hypocrites in this regard although there are many that aren't hypocritical like this. Similarly, many climate and othet activists are hypocrites by poluting the earth while also complaining that other people are to blame making them even more of hypocrites by trying to get others to do what they won't do.
One thing that decided me leaving Christianity. I was never really religious but once you start thinking about it there's a lot of contradictions of what is said in the Bible and how people behave/act, a whole lot of hypocrites. Same goes with muslims. I feel like one guy from the Muslim Middle Ground video said it best. With one hand he prays, with the other he sins.
Starlight Galaxies name them then I will tell you if it applies to all religious people because Christianity and Mormonism are very different. Everyone interprets religion differently.
Starlight Galaxies interpreting something different is not the same as cherry picking. People who take the Bible word for word most likely don’t have a actual understanding of it.
I think they should do “do all teenage Christians think the same” just to get a different view point and see we’re younger members of the Christian society stand.
Kristina Abigail Davila but those people aren’t teenagers. Teenagers can be more brutal but their minds are easily manipulated by what they are exposed to. Teenagers don’t have to worry about taxes or bills so they think about other things such as religion and their beliefs.
It’s not only important to read it, but trying to understand messages that being delivered, the Bible get misinterpreted to fit people desires, I have a friend who said he know the whole Bible, but he hate our friend because our friend being taken advantage of financially and value peace more than making money
Or…. “I have read more than one verse consecutively in the bible.” All these Gen Z Christian just read verses from time and time again to get their spiritual high
For anyone confused on why someone may not date someone of the same religion as them, it’s mainly because it can be difficult for your partner to understand how important it is to you. They won’t understand a lot of it, or even not want it at all, and it can directly effect you in a very negative way.
True, people have their own valid reasons. For example, if you know that out of marriage you want children, and you and your spouse are two separate religions, then it can cause a lot of uncertainty with raising the children. That might not always be the case, and I'm not even speaking from experience, but it's just an example because people have their own various reasons for not wanting to marry someone non-Christian
The comparison here is between the unnatural attraction an adult has for a child and the unnatural attraction the same-sex adults have for one another. The comparison is not between whether or not they can act upon it.
Aisha H Apart from the fact that the attraction between people of the same sex is 100% natural and irreversible, homosexual people are genetically coded differently. Multiple scientific studies have shown this, and even shown this in other species. If God hates homosexuality so much, why does he allow it in such a multitude of species and why did he create it?
Exactly if we're using that logic then a straight guy can prey on little girls the same way if he is attracted to females...but it's different if it's a gay person?? Their ignorance never ceases to amaze me

“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.” -James Baldwin
When Kytia said she loves lgbtq people and then said that we are on the same level as pedophiles, I was very disappointed. Like that is something Ive heard my whole entire life being a gay person and in the church. I really want her to understand what she is saying when she says this. She's taking something that she has a hard time understanding, and conflating an entire group of human beings with the worst thing she can think off, and then she claims that she loves us. That is hatred, anger, and fear. Not love. Love is understanding. Love is recognizing somebody as a human being first and treating them as a human being whether you agree with their lifestyle or not
Well, as I so far see it, @Bi Curious Dirt Bike Boi , she was maybe not so much talking about the behavior, as about the impulses, behind both such attractions, and if they should be viewed with alarm or not. Not so much the issue of consent or propriety. Still, theists do often confuse me, especially about what is 'natural' or not.
I don’t think she was saying that being gay is the same as being a pedophile I think that she meant when you break one rule that the Bible has then it’s easier to break another. the more you break rules the easier it is to break them.
Right like how could God not love everyone equally? He just doesn't need us for His will to be done and won't show favor to anyone to earn their love. He is all powerful yet he wants our love in exchange for eternal glory and a place in His will. That's why He is the embodiment of love.
icrygray some of these people’s beliefs and opinions about certain things really ruined my relationship with Christianity and it shows a really bad picture of what Christianity is and what Christians are like. Some of these people just have strong personal beliefs about stuff and hide it behind the bibel.
Bjørn Ramsden Looks like your relationship with Christianity was based on imperfect people and Not on who Jesus Was according to the Bible. Nontheless, in regards to the Christians who oppose homosexuality, their beliefs are derived from Scripture. The Bible condemns Homosexuality and calls those who practice it, to repent and believe the Gospel to be saved. As well as everyone else that practices sin in their unbelief. Your issue really is what God has commanded of us in regard to how we are to live our lives.
We definitely don't, but I think our views align more with each other since we use reason to dispute our differences. So you would have closer agreements on a lot of issues than super polar opposites like Christians.

"Where do you draw the line?" Uhhh...it's actually pretty obvious where we draw the line. If you cannot consent, that's where you draw the line. A child cannot consent. A full grown adult can consent.
Yeah. . . consent is not the issue here. We are each responsible for seeking righteousness before God. His standards are not our standards. Christians are supposed to seek His righteousness in our life regardless of our human perspective or logic. As our intimacy with God increases, He renews our thinking, perception, desires, and dreams to bring Him glory. He's just awesome that way.

I agree completely, but there are groups, and more mainstream ones, that are now saying that pedophilia is a a preference and not a choice. The term "gay lifestyle" gets thrown around a lot in mainstream churches. It comes with a lot of assumptions like promiscuous encounters and hitting up the club. That term has never related to me. @Christian Weidmann God did not write the Bible. White men who had corrupt beliefs did. If you truly believe in God, ask yourself "does it make sense for this to be a bad thing". Yes, because sexually assaulting a child, is the same as loving a person of the same gender...? Where is the logic in that? (One of my classmates found this, yikes, luckily we're friends) (Now another one found it, yikes..)
In the Christian belief it would be similar because they believe that in both situations it is two people who should not love each other. I don't think she was necessarily saying that it is just as bad, just that in her belief it is the closest "example" if you will.

@ThatZoomer its pedophilia. the child can 'consent' but if you are under 16 and you have relations with an older man, it is considered pedophilia which is illegal. check ya facts before you try and argue a useless point.
@ThatZoomer A child is not a consenting ADULT, they dont understand what they are consenting to, which is why we dont consider it consent. Theres a reason children arent allowed to sign contracts or get married or do all the things adults can do, because they're frikken children and dont yet have enough maturity or life experience to make sound and informed choices. Also people who molest children usually groom, manipulate and emotionally abuse the kids as well, that's not consent. It's disgusting and cruel, and kids who experience sexual abuse are harmed in more ways than one. But please explain to me what is morally wrong with two adults choosing to love each other, who happen to have the same gender. How is that the same? How does that harm anybody? As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse myself, I deeply resent you comparing what I went through to that. The person who hurt me did it because he liked hurting me, that was the point, he liked making me scared. How could you possibly say that that man is no worse than, let's say, my gay uncle, who's been married for decades to an equally great guy, and took care of me when I moved to a new city alone? If you see no difference between these people then something's very wrong with you.

Firestrike I am not pissed off at her but I think she should remember a few things 1) The Bible was written by men attempting to convey God’s message, but it is not the word of God. 2) Men are fallen creatures and so the things they do are imperfect. 3) The Bible was retranslated and edited many times over the centuries and influenced by those who did that. 4) The Bible should be read for deeper truths and meanings rather than literally. 5) Ultimately we should be humble enough not to presume God’s judgement of others.
K B either way god loves EVERYONE. We all sin and one shouldn’t be over the other, it’s only between that person and gods relationship to determine it, not other peoples rambles.
When that guy disagreed with the phrase "God loves everyone equally". Like, MAN, it literally says that in the Bible. The whole point of Christianity IS that God loves everyone the same, even sinners. That's the basic premise.
@@hahdakdahkdhalsla Premise, my ass. If people have no choice in their sexuality, and Matthew 5:18 applied, then many got signed a death warrant, for much of church history. I congratulate the two Christians who are part of the lgbtq+ community. They literally got told by everyone there that they’re are sinners and their love is not natural. And they were able to keep going. They were not rude and listened. What the others were saying hurt! You could see it in their face. I could not do that. Stephanie George I agree with her... I don’t think we should just accept who people are, Jesus didnt accept everyone for who they are instead he tried to change their ways
YUM you can’t help who you are attracted to. Attraction isn’t something you can just change. Marcus André the Bible also says thou shall not commit adultery. Yet it is celebrated to commit that sin. I’m movies, in music, in culture it is encouraged to commit adultery. That sin is clearly just as wrong as homosexuality is made out to be in the Bible but no one is saying they will go to hell for it. No one says they don’t agree with that lifestyle because it is now normal behavior. That’s where Christianity becomes hypocritical because people want to choose which of gods laws they deem worthy to follow.
YUM throughout history people use the Bible as a weapon to hurt people. I’m gay and a Christian. My church fully accepts me for who I am. I even came out in a worship service. They love me. In 0 cases of physical attractions that is love. I’m so grateful I’m at a age where I truly know that what anyone thinks about me is none of my business. Acceptance of self will always win out over anyone else’s ideas of you. Sometimes we have to leave places or spaces that no longer support us or never will.
@@abetak297 The thing is, he talked about how there are rules in the Bible about people dressing a certain way and eating certain things. That point is kind of invalid because all of those rules are in the Old Covenant. Once Jesus came and died, He established the New Covenant and the Mosiac Law in the Old Testament wasn't important anymore; Jesus himself said so when He established the new covenant. It still talks about homosexuality in the New Testament (after the New Covenant was established) in Romans and 1 Timothy and 1 Corinthians. But never once does it say that those people are hated or condemned or should be treated so (because the New Covenant is a whole lot of loving people). There are so many divisions and sometimes we just need to agree to disagree instead of arguing because that will cause even more division. I'm just imagining getting to heaven someday and God laughing at our little arguments because we all are wrong in some way and I really can't wait to get to heaven someday and for Him to laugh and show me what I missed.

Tobias Hillier-milton yes she was... she compared pedos to gay people.. one is perfectly legal (gay) and one is illegal and disgusting. How is that not homophobic
Spencer Tracy Context is key. I myself am Christian though I take the Bible very very loosely, since it’s been tainted by humans, and I am bisexual. Even though I don’t believe in the story of Adam and Eve I’ll explain it that way. God was populating the world of course you would need one woman and one man because that’s how reproduction works. Once the world was larger there was more room for, well, people who don’t have children. This isn’t specifically my belief (why the frick would you make a man before a woman??? Hermaphrodites???) but I hope I explained this better. In short, there is no real need for population growth in the present, so why shouldn’t there be gay people?
Spencer Tracy comparing attraction? a little kid can’t be attracted to a middle aged adult, that is called grooming. two legal consenting adults very much can be attracted to each other.
But then, the age of consent is not constant. It varies from state to state and country to country. 14 yr olds in Germany** can get married to grown adults and 12 yr olds in Nigeria can get married as well. in the U.S age of consent in some states is as low as 15, whereas in others its 16-18. So really, where is the line?
Consent is an unusable, out moded argument! A bartender can consent to por you a drink but can't get you out of a DWI! You can consent to take heroin but the law says it's illegal to do so.
C O as someone from Scotland, you are talking rubbish. It is widely known in our country and across Britain that the age of consent is 16 , the same age that you are legally allowed to marry. A 14 year old in Scotland wouldn’t be able to marry or give consent to sexual activity in the eyes of the law
As a white Christian, I would just like to say that if anyone is going through a hard time with their sexuality and are ashamed. Don't. Ari Jackson I can totally relate with you. Something I’ve experienced is a sense of having to act a certain way when you’re around Christians. People judging you, interrogating you, or not accepting you just based on how you live is not right. You’re not gonna make the same decisions as a “Christian” would because we have different standards on right and wrong. It makes me mad when Christianity is misrepresented. I’ve grown up going to church so I know what you mean. What I have learned about being “Christian” is that we are trying to better ourselves during our life and help others along the way. It’s hard to think about and pretty weird sometimes, but this life is some what meaningless when you compare it to heaven. Jesus came to earth to show an example of what it means to be perfect. He set a standard that nobody can live up to. I heard an analogy that talks about if you just ate the best food ever you’d want to share it with your best friend right? That’s the same concept with Christianity that we want others to experience the greatness of having a God to turn to when we’re feeling troubled or down. It doesn’t mean if you are a Christian that your life will be perfect and you won’t experience bad things, but that you can have hope. There’s more to this but I’m sure you’re bored of reading this long speech. I hope this helped.

2:50. I always think this is an interesting thing to say, "I love them, I just don't support them". It doesn't matter how much you think you "love" someone if they don't feel loved by you. Some of the people who "love" us put us through conversion therapy, out us, and kick us out of their homes. It doesn't mean anything for you to say you still "love" queer people, that you just "don't support their lifestyle". We don't feel loved by you. The Bible says "love thy neighbor", but I think it'd be better if it said "Make thy neighbor feel loved".
Great point. Many people say they are showing love to others when really they are just being selfish and the person doesn't feel loved at all. I'm not a part of the LGBTQ+ community and can never truly understand their experiences. All I know as a Christian is that I am called to love people. It is not Christians' jobs to point out sins (or what they think are sins) to others. I am supposed to work on myself and ask the Lord to change me for the better. For people we have differences with, (political party, sexuality, race, etc.) the main question we should be asking is "How do I love them better?"
It does matter nobody needs to feel loved to be loved. Watch how this scolded for almost falling off a bridge by his parents he doesn't feel love however the amount of love that went into that scolding because of their genuine care for as well being is it still authentic. Love is the bastion of intent. As long as it's genuine love and not a misconception masquerading with the word love genuine desire to do something for the other person out of love cannot be taken away. If I bake someone cookies but I forget or didn't know that they are allergic to gluten it does not subtract from my intent to love that person. And to clarify will I have put it under the commons of someone else love defined biblically is an action not a feeling.
I think that phrase mostly means that I respect you as a human and I will not discriminate or cause you harm but your actions are what I cannot agree with. I don't blame them we all have our religious beliefs and as long as they dont cause harm to anyone they should be respected.
It’s interesting, I love criminals, but don’t support their behavior, that’s the great thing about Christianity, when reading and understanding the Bible, there will be some challenges

Last time I check this applies to only when it is an adult male and female child... interesting female children are the one who are thought to fear the 'act' but not the male children (well unless it's male adult) what a coincidence...

Dude called out the biggest problem I have with religion, people cherry pick the parts that they like and just ignore the stuff that they don't like.
They picked the wrong people for this. You saying religion as a whole cherry picks stuff is entirely false.
I would love to see that myself! Being that I’m a teenager and a strong Christian
These people are pretty young so...
Kristina Abigail Davila but those people aren’t teenagers. Teenagers can be more brutal but their minds are easily manipulated by what they are exposed to. Teenagers don’t have to worry about taxes or bills so they think about other things such as religion and their beliefs.

For anyone confused on why someone may not date someone of the same religion as them, it’s mainly because it can be difficult for your partner to understand how important it is to you.
Also because in the Bible is says not to be unequally yolked with non believers

Dicelord N you clearly saw that the other Christians disagreed with her but you still make that generalization...
How is being attracted to a child (WHO CAN NOT CONSENT) on the same level as loving/being attracted to an adult/ someone your age?
The comparison here is between the unnatural attraction an adult has for a child and the unnatural attraction the same-sex adults have for one another. The comparison is not between whether or not they can act upon it.
Aisha H Apart from the fact that the attraction between people of the same sex is 100% natural and irreversible, homosexual people are genetically coded differently.
