As for the DBS 130/131 episode with Takahashi as key animator, you can either think of the meme of Takahashi saying to Yamamuro that he "uses the character sheets.. THE OLD ONES!" or the meme was REAL and Takahashi did indeed stay with original sheets on his own.
ForgottenRelics JW I do have a quick question. With the future of hand drawn animation is looking darker each year, do you think that future animation technology would make it so that the computer draws out the anime for you using a mimicking art style program? I know expressions and exaggerated movements are what make hand made art unique but if a computer can read an anime frame by frame, could it one day replace hand. Anime’s could be drawn out quicker but probably lose it appeal maybe
@@black2785 Sounds kinda similar to adobe after effects, from what I remember you can basically use preset shapes and then set a path for it to follow and it will animate it. Of course I remember when I did it it still took alot of manual input from my side but no drawing of frame by frame was needed. And if you had a 3d model I'm guessing I could probably do the same. And what your describing sounds a little similar to an author note by Kishimoto(author of naruto) back in 2001 "Both the backgrounds and characters themselves are created in software as polygons and once the initial design and programming is done, any imaginable composition is possible. For action sequences, we use motion capture to create and manipulate the coolest poses we can come up with. It's all done on the computer, without using any paper or ink". The reason Dragon ball GT had inconsistent color palettes for the characters is because it had artifacts that changed the original colors that were painted due to the way it was produced and the images you used in the video as reference were from different sources. GT is canon to dbz the anime, but not the manga. calling it non canon makes no sense since franchises have multible canons. Anime canon exists. Marvel,DC,James bond,ECT have MULTIBLE canons. Dbz I no acception. Ball leads to z and z leads to GT. Kai leads to super and the manga leads to supers manga. Three Dragonball canons. Easy. That's how they make them. As for the DBS 130/131 episode with Takahashi as key animator, you can either think of the meme of Takahashi saying to Yamamuro that he "uses the character sheets.. THE OLD ONES!" or the meme was REAL and Takahashi did indeed stay with original sheets on his own.
Good video it was really interesting
Thank you! Sorry if it was a little long though I hope you enjoyed it regardless
BTW, love your channel and your art!
I like the GT art style better.
I like dragon ball super it’s really catching it’s footing
I like how GT Vegeta has an actual forehead
Great video. Detail is important
Sure is and thanks!
And what your describing sounds a little similar to an author note by Kishimoto(author of naruto) back in 2001
"Both the backgrounds and characters themselves are created in software as polygons and once the initial design and programming is done, any imaginable composition is possible. For action sequences, we use motion capture to create and manipulate the coolest poses we can come up with. It's all done on the computer, without using any paper or ink".
(might have to make a video on that note)
ForgottenRelics JW I am impressed of your knowledge
Great content as usual
👍
ForgottenRelics JW I can’t find content like this anywhere
ForgottenRelics JW so great job
the desings for the movie are simply the best
GT was fresh after DBZ and by the same animators. Of course it would still look great.
I always liked the tan Goku look.
Same man! Sun ☀️ Wukong is his name after all...
I don’t know why but when Goku when UI he looks really dark is some places
Og art style is always the goat🗿🔥
Got was clean af
Great video
Thanks man!
If I had to choose I'd pick DBZ over GT and Super animated series.
Did anyone comment anything about GT artist
*drawing big noses for the characters*
GT looks far better than Super.
Only exception is Super Broly.
17:42 I wanna see the artists challenge themselves... There isn't enough going on with the meta, lore or art anywyay so I wanna see what would happen to his SSJ3 hair if some was cut off... Would it go back to base form, without Goku's power, surging through the strands? Is it going to stay blonde, even when cut off since his physiology changed for the form??
This stuff is interesting and helps answer a lot of questions about the science of DBZ, without going all Man of Steel on us
They need to ease up on the animators for DBS. I'd be happy with one eppie a month, that way you'll get top notch quality
It doesn't work this way, plus during ToP arc, they had mostly 3 to 6 weeks for episode
@@lewycraft if they had up to 6 weeks, then the animators are absolutely garbage. They need new talent.
@@dk7541 well, the best new talents are recently emerging in their Precure department so...
Ball,z,gt were ALL weekly. It's the issue of art style, passion.
I actually like his tan color in GT
17:35,Yuya Takahashi. Can't blame on him, those colors look bomb asf.
Tu Yong-Ce*
Where did he get the vegeta character sheet?
which one?
Man, super’s artstyle sucks compared to z(cell-buu arc)
Which one? Yamamuro, top style or shintani
@@insertnamehere658 I'm not really sure who was in charge of the edgy artstyle.
Let me try.
-Imperfect Cell vs Merged Piccolo & Kami
-Perfect Cell vs USSJ Trunks
-SSJ2 Gohan vs Cell Juniors
-SSJ2 Son Goku vs Majin Vegeta
-Chou Gohan vs Majin Buu
-Chou Gohan vs Buutenks
-SSJ3 Son Goku vs Buuhan
-Non sloppy artstyle during Super Vegito vs Buuhan
-SSJ2 Son Goku vs Kid Buu & the rest of the fight until the death of Kid Buu is just gold.
@@oyametalicusII I personally think that while not as good as the z style. The shintani style is still pretty good and if we're talking about animation then ui omen goku vs jiren, mui goku vs jiren and every fight in the broly movie looks better than Z
@@insertnamehere658 In dbs Broly, not all of the drawings look nice. Maybe this is just a matter of preference whether or not the audience like the rounded manga artstyle or the edgy & crispy artstyle (FullPower Broly charging up vs Gogeta Blue), and I don't know if that's the intention(to combine both artstyles), but I really prefer consistency of the edgy ones.
DBZ Broly movie's story sucks but the artstyle was consistent and really looks splendid during the time.
DBS Universe Survival arc had few great artstyles, especially when Vegeta started the attack vs Jiren. What else, the beginning of the SSJ2 Goku vs SSJ2 Caulifla & SSJ Kale(controlled) part, Chou Gohan's Kamehameha to Toppo.
Those were the few ones I really like.
@@oyametalicusII a lot of people like the low detail shintani style. I do also like the top style
i feel like its more accurate to say that GT is just darker in general. like the backgrounds are darker (thinking how movies r darker than tv shows)
The reason Dragon ball GT had inconsistent color palettes for the characters is because it had artifacts that changed the original colors that were painted due to the way it was produced and the images you used in the video as reference were from different sources. Same with the Promotional materials
Hey man, when you make videos do you write a script and read or do you speak naturaly?
the color changes also has a lot to do with the lightning of the environment.
Goku is older in GT. And everyone knows once you get older you get that "middle age spread" lol that's why his face is more round in GT. He was a grandfather.
15:26 at least he doesn't look like a fossil anymore 😂😂😂
DBZ and GT color palettes and art style are superior in every aspect. Super looks like fisher price shiny toys, I can’t stand it.
I agree
I think the skin color for GT Goku would be to set him apart from original DB's Kid Goku and Kid Goten's design. With this weird logic take in mind, for the poster of Goku Jr. movie it could MAYBE be to set him apart from the Junior himself?
Ik they dont rlly show dbs broly but that is the best art style for dragon ball by far, it shows earlier db which is best for the story
I am free to disagree right?
@@chief5604 ur free to but i wont be replying after this
@@zenic558 ok I disagree
Loved the video
Thanks!
I love the VS series and when will you upload the part 2 of young jijii vs toyotaro?
Thank you! I haven't started on part 2 yet as I would like to read some more of there material first but I will be working on a video discussing Tadayoshi Yamrous artwork which I think will be quite intresting 👍
I miss when the Z fighters we're beefcakes lmao
The biggest thing that I noticed in Gt is that the noses are much bigger compared to in Z and even the Yamamuro art style.
Gt looks better
Man dbz looked amazing
even though i dont like gt, gt style is wayyyyyy better than yamamuro's super art
Does GT have a manga?
It kinda does haha but it's just screenshots from the anime www.kanzenshuu.com/2019/12/01/dragon-ball-gt-anime-comic-vols-1-3-cover-art-revealed/
Super only uses Kai music, footage and the filler Kai accepts but not the z filler like garlic jr.
So no,GT has no manga. It's a sequel to dbz the tv show by toei, not toriyamas inferior manga (which stupidly did shit like skip Goku vs Majin Vegeta ....yeah...that's 99% FILLER. )
BOB IGOR RUINED STAR WARS NOT JUST KATHLEEN here let me explain this to you GT is NOT CANNON dbz anime and the dbz manga are cannon. Dbs is the sequel to dbz and the anime and manga is cannon now we move on to the dbs manga and the moro saga that is cannon even tho it might not be animated and the dbs broly movie is cannon too but Ima be honest I don’t know where that fits in the manga.
@@mari2x474 um... okay, here we go again. GT was NEVER confirmed as non canon or canon at all. If you want to know what toriyama says about the show, he calls it "a grand side story to the original dragon ball" www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.kanzenshuu.com/translations/dragon-book-gt-toriyama-intro/&ved=2ahUKEwjEw-Gp4IDwAhUCac0KHb6SCjAQFjAAegQIAxAC&usg=AOvVaw1Ny75E5a_IUmEQK6t3tuTI ...which does NOT mean it's non canon at all. Unless you think side stories are non canon, which to be honest, almost all side stories in different franchises are canon too. And no, just because toriyama didn't write it doesn't mean anything, because I don't know why people think "if it's a different creator, its non canon.", that simply makes no sense. Almost all franchises has different writers from each other but are still canon to said franchise. (Like marvel, DC, star wars, ya know what I mean.)
@@michaeldunlap1032 so explain this the dbz movies are not canon to the anime everyone knows this but in GT, it’s cannon to the movies that automatically makes it non canon to the anime and manga it’s pretty obviously
Early Z & GT's art is peak
Why Toriyama always coloured Goku brown-skinned in drawings?
And TOEI paint him white-skinned?
Well like many things..originally it starts a certain way and then to reach many other audiences it is altered. But yes toriyamas original works of Goku he was brown skinned
