Funny how these interviews were hard to come by at all before his passing. Super insightful interview with Toriyama himself that has good takeaways for artists
Honestly, there was a point in time where I had lost appreciation for Dragon Ball and Toriyama himself because of the toxic fandom, but I've grown as a person as well as an artist, and I really have a newfound appreciation for him. His art style is simple, but he had a really great understanding of anatomy and colouring. I wouldn't call him the greatest writer, but he was still a genius in his own way and managed to tell fairly great stories, regardless. Not to mention how much of a humble person he seemed to be. I wish I hadn't let my distaste for the fandom get to me like that, but I've learned to separate the positive from the negative and appreciate Toriyama for what he's done in his own right.
I am the same age as you. The weekly manga magazines that carried Dragon Ball and the anime broadcasts were my favorite times too. Since then, there has never been a time when I have been so engrossed in it. The power of manga is great.
Always a pleasure to hear the genius talk about his work. A disarmingly banal view on his own legacy. But that's what makes his stuff so great and Toriyama himself so likable.
at 32:15 He actually said something I was thinking for a while. What made him great is that he wasn't inspired by mangas, but movies, which made him great. You will never get someone like him since all are mainly inspired by mangas.
Man, it's kind of crazy to see his famous pen holder. The pen he used to draw every single panel of manga he ever made, and also forced him into retirement when he lost it.
Bleach Creator, Tite Kubo, Shares Tribute to Akira Toriyama - "It would be strange to write a diary without mentioning this, so I'll just talk about something serious". "Personally, I don't feel any loneliness or pain. I'm not saying there aren't any at all, but there aren't as many as I thought. It's the death of someone I've read since I was a child, someone who works in the same magazine as me, and someone I'm deeply influenced by, so it feels different than when I deal with death in general, but that's why I feel like it doesn't exist." "I've never really talked about this with anyone, but I've always believed that creating things means expanding your sensibilities and expanding your life. This is because I believe that as long as the work exists, the author is not dead. And I believe that being able to properly get used to this feeling is proof of the magnitude of the work's existence that remains in my heart."

Naw akira just was very hands off and chill. He forgot stuff all the time. He lived in the moment. Also remember ssj hair is the color it is cause he was lazy and didnt wanna color the hair in lol
@@FREE_WILL_DEFENDER Hands off?????
Mr "I only have 1 assistant who barely makes it in to work" Toriyama??
@@dreameater7445 when it came to toei after a while he was hands off. Did he not complain about super early episodes. Didnt he take over the story from toyotaro during Goku black arc? That means he took his hands off of it until others start fucking his shit up
@@FREE_WILL_DEFENDER you dismissed OP's theory of his work DURING HIS PRIME contributing to his horrible memory by explaining that he was hands off during the busiest period of his life.
Thats the context
Other things u said were indeed true, but it all comes after the fact
He was humble.
I'm going to miss him even though I never met him he impacted my life and many others with his creation
自分が伝説の漫画描いてたって自覚ないかんじがいいよなー。ホントに尊敬する。
Toriyama-sensei is so humble in his interviews and teachings. Thank you Toriyama-Sensei!
Thank you for creating a masterpiece and a world that has touched us so deeply. You have touched and changed so many lives. May you rest in peace and watch us carry on your legend.❤❤❤❤❤ 😭😭😭😭😭
Thank you for all the good times, Toriyama-sensei. You will be missed. And you will never be forgotten. You left your mark. Rest well.
I wish I would have given him a BIG hug and thank him for the amazing childhood he gave me.
Same here i was always saying i would meet him
@@A.c.e2.0would have been difficult to meet him as he was very private.
His talent trascended all over the World, half of Europe , NorthAmerica and South America drawers were trying to be as good as Toriyama Sensei.
@@daTutankabron Thank you for telling me that. I didn't know he was so popular overseas. I am looking forward to the emergence of a new Akira Toriyama from the next generation around the world. May his soul rest in peace. Sensei🥲
I'm thankful for Google Translate, that I was able to read these beautiful words. Thank you

MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON IN MEDIA HISTORY
It was amazing to see Sensei work and hear his voice, true respect to our passed on God Of Manga. Rest In Peace Toriyama-Sensei
Thank you for your valuable video! Although the teacher has passed away, his posthumous work "DAIMA'' will begin in the fall of 2024. Let's all have fun!
Funny how these interviews were hard to come by at all before his passing. Super insightful interview with Toriyama himself that has good takeaways for artists
Right?!I have only seen a Tetsuko Room interview that is more than a decade older than this
Honestly, there was a point in time where I had lost appreciation for Dragon Ball and Toriyama himself because of the toxic fandom, but I've grown as a person as well as an artist, and I really have a newfound appreciation for him.
This man inspired me to get into drawing.
Rest in Peace to the Legend. We'll miss you Akira. Thank you.
I imagine a scenario where Toyotaro is complaining about the monthly deadline and toriyama pulls up with the "Back in my day!"
lmaooo
Being 40 the only thing I looked forward too at school was the dragonball episode right after
I am the same age as you. The weekly manga magazines that carried Dragon Ball and the anime broadcasts were my favorite times too. Since then, there has never been a time when I have been so engrossed in it. The power of manga is great.
30:43 interviewer: I see friendship is a big theme in dragon ball
Toriyama: There Is NO friendship
🤣
He’s so effortlessly funny 😭 RIP Sensei
It's crazy how an extremely influential mangaka doesn't have many interviews..
he has a lot of interviews but most of them are in magazine or books etc. so this one is indeed rare for him.
He rarely goes to events and is a very pricate person
Rest in paradise akira toriyama thank you for my childhood days your creation of dragon ball
Played so many DBZ games for hours and rewatching DBZ. RIP Akira and thank you for all the memories.
Man whatever interview he gave whether in text or in video, it was always funny and it always had "laughs" ❤😂
Always a pleasure to hear the genius talk about his work. A disarmingly banal view on his own legacy. But that's what makes his stuff so great and Toriyama himself so likable.
Farewell Toriyama
You are forever number 1
ドラゴンボールをどうもありがとう Rest in Peace Akira Toriyama😢
at 32:15 He actually said something I was thinking for a while. What made him great is that he wasn't inspired by mangas, but movies, which made him great. You will never get someone like him since all are mainly inspired by mangas.
This is gold. Thank you for uploading
Nice pfp
Man, it's kind of crazy to see his famous pen holder. The pen he used to draw every single panel of manga he ever made, and also forced him into retirement when he lost it.
He was a great man, in many ways... we will miss his art, his gifts, his stories, yet his inspiration will persist in us all forever.
He was the greatest of all time
stop using the "goat" acronym. it's related to satanic demonic worshippers
Bleach Creator, Tite Kubo, Shares Tribute to Akira Toriyama -
"It would be strange to write a diary without mentioning this, so I'll just talk about something serious". "Personally, I don't feel any loneliness or pain. I'm not saying there aren't any at all, but there aren't as many as I thought. It's the death of someone I've read since I was a child, someone who works in the same magazine as me, and someone I'm deeply influenced by, so it feels different than when I deal with death in general, but that's why I feel like it doesn't exist."
"I've never really talked about this with anyone, but I've always believed that creating things means expanding your sensibilities and expanding your life. This is because I believe that as long as the work exists, the author is not dead. And I believe that being able to properly get used to this feeling is proof of the magnitude of the work's existence that remains in my heart."
Love to see the master at work!
HE WAS SO GOOD HE DIDNT EVEN NEED TO DRAW THE BASIC SHAPES FIRST
Akira Toriyama respects Osamu Tezuka and Walt Disney.
🕊 R.I.P AKIRA TORIYAMA
it's video is satisfactory when i see that video it always make happy with the great style of akira toriyama, greeting from guatemala and greting to dragon ball fans
He’s such a humble guy he lets you know he’s still human and makes mistakes no matter how successful he is he bound to make errors dude created this stuff an still says guys I mess up sometimes drawing my own stuff isn’t that humble
Toriyama is such a hoot n a holler hahaha! He's so unserious and he will forever be remembered. Him making fun of himself, while also being very humble is why Ive always loved him as an artist. Extremely talented, but doesn't claim to be anywhere near the best (even though he is one of the greatest)
Rest in peace a true genius I’m heartbroken literally a god of manga
Man truly you are the GOAT
This is pure gold✨✨
Thank you for uploading this,
I learnt A LOT about the greatest of them all!!!
Rest in peace, ✨👑Toriyama👑✨
Young akira look like bruce lee. Rip LEGEND SENSEI AKIRA TORIYAMA
Thank you master, your lessons will be on each of my traces
It's crazy how quickly Toriyama's working and how great that Goku drawing looks despite that. He makes it look effortless, but it's not easy to have this much confidence in your lines, effortlessly putting down great looking lines without relying on tons of drafts and corrections.
He’s so humble tho he always down plays his own work he said when he was young it was so effortlessly done now he’s old an he can’t do that anymore he said
Akira Toriyama will remain in our hearts forever. Goodbye Sensei o-(ToT )-o
