Honestly, there was a point in time where I had lost appreciation for Dragon Ball and Toriyama himself because of the toxic fandom, but I've grown as a person as well as an artist, and I really have a newfound appreciation for him. His art style is simple, but he had a really great understanding of anatomy and colouring. I wouldn't call him the greatest writer, but he was still a genius in his own way and managed to tell fairly great stories, regardless. Not to mention how much of a humble person he seemed to be. I wish I hadn't let my distaste for the fandom get to me like that, but I've learned to separate the positive from the negative and appreciate Toriyama for what he's done in his own right.

他の漫画家さんのカラー作画の動画も見ましたが、鳥山先生の作画が明らかに違うところは、下絵が下絵の形をしたアタリで、本来の下絵の段階が無く、ペン入れに直接進むところ。だから、ペン入れの時、下絵の通りには描かず、下絵を描くのも速い。 他の漫画家の方も、丸と十字の線みたいなアタリを描く人はいないけど、アタリの絵を描いた後に必ず。下絵を上から描いて、ペン入れするときに描く線とほとんど変わらないところまで持っていっている。鳥山先生と比べて一段階多いので、その分ペン入れに至るまでの時間が長い。 ペン入れの時に、下の鉛筆の線をなぞらずに描くのは、後戻りができないので、自分の描く線に相当自信がないとできないこと。自分の絵をよく知っているということで、それ程描いてきていたということ。おそらく、模写するよりも、自分の想像力で絵を描いて育ったんじゃないかな。

Toriyama is such a hoot n a holler hahaha! He's so unserious and he will forever be remembered. Him making fun of himself, while also being very humble is why Ive always loved him as an artist. Extremely talented, but doesn't claim to be anywhere near the best (even though he is one of the greatest)

The marker may be tough to hear, but seeing him draw is so amazing, and it’s also so satisfying to see him sign his name in Japanese at the end. RIP legend

Always a pleasure to hear the genius talk about his work. A disarmingly banal view on his own legacy. But that's what makes his stuff so great and Toriyama himself so likable.
