The Goku he is talking about is an entirely different character that was just *inspired* by the original Son Goku. It is not supposed to be the same character.
Many artists break and give up on their passion because of unemployment, but this guy broke through every limit. I see how breaking through limits became a major theme in Dragonball. Seeing the impossible yet going within yourself to see that the challenge ahead is a self create limiting belief. Akira you are an inspiration.

It's good that Toriyama was more focused on his growth and love for the craft rather than just making money as a Mangaka. Way too many people end up looking for shortcuts to try to make money out of their art to the point that it ends up being their only goal at the end of the day. It really goes to show how much he cared about art as a way to express and comunicate his ideas.

Yeah he can make an even better personality but you see he just gets exhausted by drawing his most epic manga dragon ball, there are dark spots on latest pics under his eyes due to drawing a lot of time so his physique changed a lot

I remember reading in one of the manga volumes of DBZ that Toriyama was first inspired to draw after watching 101 Dalmatians in a movie theater. He would also draw something that he wanted (like a horse) over and over again, which ended up improving his skills after dozens of drawings
The man was the complete opposite of "Shigeru Miyamoto" the Mario and Zelda creator .. Both created some of the most iconic characters in history but one is an extreme introvert and private person... while the other is very energetic and extroverted.
