I think 5:08 is a very instructive moment: you didnt have a concrete plan, and you didnt see a certain threat (correct me if im wrong). You could develoo your knight at this stage, push the pawn as the computer liked, and generally - improve your position. Thats key i think.
I think it is interesting in the 2nd game you set up a nice pin on the white Q and it worked well, but then you didn't notice the possible pin on your Q. I think that could be a good mental exercise to play in your head to figure out what your thought process was and to find a remedy for the future. I feel like you are teetering on the edge of greatness! You just need to put it all together.
Thanks Jamba... Yeah, I think I have really good thoughts and positions in games, but all too often throw it all away. I will improve though!!! Thanks for sticking with me lad
Hey, Owen, I was wondering for how long have you played chess and did you start playing it as a child? It seems like even reaching an intermediate elo of 1500 is very difficult for adults like me who are playing chess seriously for the first time (I've studied the Jobava London inspired by yourself and the KID/Pirc for black and I'm as of yet unbeaten with both). The extent of my chess schooling was my dad showing me how the pieces moved and that was that, never really played either. Honestly, if I can even reach 1000 elo in the future, I'll be chuffed.
@@The0verman I also played with my dad as a kid and a few of my brothers, I always had more of a mind for the game than the rest of my siblings, I think they all knew I'd beat them so we didn't play a whole bunch, but I'd usually play with my dad after church on Sundays. I only recently picked up playing when I started this RUclips channel back in November and when I started I think my elo was around 1500. I knew a few openings, like the Sicilian and a few trappy gambits, but I hadn't learned very much. I think you can definitely get to 1k, that's a fantastic goal and I'm sure it'll happen! I think I've improved quite a lot even though I've only gone from 1500 to 1750, but the game does take commitment to learning but I think it's a very healthy game and good for the mind, and you can play it into your old age! Thanks for watching the videos, and best of luck reaching 1k
@@Blunder_Man Thanks for your words of encouragement. I do feel like I am turning a new leaf in my chess, I'm on a crazy winning streak right now and I think that's because I don't allow myself to get comfortable and complacent anymore, like I used to. I'm laser focused and when I find a good move -- I try to find and even better one.
Genuine question, how is your elo at 1700? I’m currently almost 1400 but my average performance rating is around 1800-2000 and the players I face at 1400 are generally quite good, nothing like the matches I see on this channel, which are more reminiscent of my matches when I was at 1000 elo. No hate, keep up the content! 🙌
No offense taken. The performance rating doesn't mean anything on chess.com, it's based off your current elo, if I put the same moves in to my engine with my elo it would give me 2300 instead of 2000 for you. It's also easier to see stuff when you're observing someone else

Yes, looking for improving moves even though a plan isn't there yet is often the way
Why did you resign against French defence? You could save your knight. I think you should have continued this game.
@@Misha_Ponziani lol, bro, I'm so blind

@@immortily1673 thanks lad!! I'll refocus!
no need to have resigned game one - knight back to c3 !
He thought pawn takes d4 and the knight is pinned, but he got queen takes d4, so, no need to resign
I didn't even think if anything, I just thought I lost the knight, I'm terrible lol
You could have gone back with knight first game. Are you serious I'm a 900 and saw that.
