This is day 241 of my journey to get to a rating of 2000 on chess.com.
I'm feeling a bit frustrated with my play because I'm missing so much. Maybe I was just tired today and not focused enough (definetly the case in game 3), but I am thinking that I'm gonna just go on an insane win streak here soon and fully focus. I believe it's gonna happen and things are gonna start clicking. I can do it, I know I can! Hope you enjoy these two sicilian games, and a sort of d4 against the pirc.

@@Blunder_Man yeah brother have been watching your play for a long time. it always perplexes me how your queen is always so far forward undefended or offside and at a certain point she gets assaulted or is the cause of loosing a major piece. im not a great player and appreciate you like to attack but there are other ways to attack than leaving the queen vulnerable or incapable of assisting in defence. anyway dont mind me. im a crap chess player.

B-man - Just thought I would mention that, as is the case with most of us, it is not about the opening, but the middlegame. Relentlessly working through tactics will get you to where you need to be. Hang in there, you are in a place right along with me - playing well, but making a middlegame mistake that turns things over.

Man, I really think you should explore the Najdorf, it's very theoretically explored and has many solid lines. I play it the most out of any opening, and have had a lot of success with it.
I don't really wanna learn another but maybe it's similar, I might look at it
@Blunder_Man It's genuinely a system that doesn't require major central exchanges. Just develop dark squared bishop after a6, then castle. Sometimes you can follow up with a kingside fianchetto of the bishop after a6, depends on opponents response after a6.

How are you finding transitioning to otb chess mate? Ive grinded up to the same rating rapid as you but ive not played competitive otb. I have a club though playing classical and the season starts in two weeks 😬. Think im playing in the second division although they think im good enough to play first division but i have no idea how classical will go 😂.
@@tombaron2505 I failed miserably at the long classical chess, but did well enough in the blitz this weekend, I think it's just a different game so don't go in expecting to perform as well, it's just different and takes some getting used to, however if you've played OTB at your club you'll probably be fine, I'm hoping my next tournament in a few weeks I'll be more confident and able to play at a higher level
How do you train in chess ?
@@Thechesslad1 I've got a book that I've been going through, but it's taking me a while, currently using "how to reassess your chess" by Jeremy shilman. Fantastic book. I also watch a lot of videos on openings and ideas within systems which have been very helpful, but I still miss a lot
@Blunder_Man I analyze my games Do puzzles everyday Learn some opening line But after all of that I'm still stuck in 1500 to 1520 elo for about 2 months I feel really discouraged by it And I don't know how much time will it take before I reach 1750 like you man
@@Thechesslad1 I think my biggest help would be to play less chess, try do 1 or 2 games a day and really try to understand why you lost your advantage from early on, and that'll start to help you see ideas from the games. My game that I'm uploading tomorrow had a TON of mistakes in it, and although I didn't show it, I learned a lot about the position (especially in the second game) so that I know more of the ideas I should be going for in the game. Playing one game/two games a day has helped me I think because I can just focus on those games and try to improve those small things. If you compare my games to someone like "apexchess", I have like a tenth of the games that he has played, if that, so maybe playing a lot is a strategy as well, but for me this has worked so far... hope that helps but idk? as ben finegold says (someone I'm not a big fan of, but I'm telling you this anyway because I think it's good): do anything, just make sure you're doing it, cause it'll all help.
@Blunder_Man I also only average 1 or 2 games per day yet 2 months in plateau are demoralizing I don't want to read a chess book because they're boring It's just every time I get close to leaving the plateau I get losses and then start over In you're opinion Do I need to add something to advance in elo ?
@@Thechesslad1 No... just keep watching good videos on the opening ideas that you play and keep analyzing your own games. Just because you've plateaued for a while doesn't mean you aren't improving.
How long do you study chess per day?

Take part in a fide rated classical tournament it’s the best and the most fun one

That is the way. Even when you lose you have to score between 77 and 82%, because that shows your defensive skills. But, your wins need to be between 84% and0 93% at the 2000 level. Another thing, when you are in a losing position, sometimes you need to forget to turn the tables and just look for a draw with repetitive moves, like the pros do. And last thing, eventually you will have to stop recording from that love hotel and start recording from your house.
