No idea who the latest one is for the new Top Gear, but in spite of the fact that I hate the new line-up and will be waiting for Jeremy Clarksons new American series on Amazon later this year, I wish the new Stig the best of luck.

I am thinking even an "old" LFA on a dry day could challenge as it seems more composed than the vastly more expensive Veyron. I really wish they had brought it back after testing on that abysmal day....

Actually the Veyron lapped better than the Zonda F. In this video, that version of Zonda F is a convertible meaning the Stig was already familiar to the handling. Veyron is a luxury GT thus a different animal compared to the Zonda.

I remember this lap. I was bitterly disappointed when it was announced that the Veyron wasn't the fastest and when the Zonda beat it by half a second. I know the Veyron was big and heavy, but, I was always hoping it would set a better, if not faster time. I'd still choose the Veyron over the Zonda.

I think the important takeaway here is that the Veyron is a much more comfortable/daily drivable car than the Zonda which is a full on track car but with a fancy interior and license plates. Young people will argue that they’d drive a Zonda all day every day no issues and while yeah sure you can, it would never compare to the Veyrons ride quality/comfort. And to that add the ridiculous top speed.
Obviously in the end no one’s gonna daily drive any of them but despite both being hyper expensive they shouldn’t really be compared in terms of time attack performance. Both are examples of incredible feats of engineering

Whilst not being the fastest car except on a straight line, i guess you could call the Veyron (and Chiron) the best and nicest cars to drive fast
That's why the SuperSport that came after with revised everything went 2 seconds faster.

if only the veyron had better acceleration and handling...
Not the point of the car, luxury limo comfort with a silly 2.5s to 60mph and oh yeah over 250mph. Handling wasnt the priority.

+fragfarmerCA Turbos usually make cars more silent since they reduce the speed of the exhaust gasses. Since that beast has 4 of them it checks out.

It's still a 1.8 tonne car compared to the original 1.9 tonne car.
The SuperSport is faster by 2 seconds around that track. It is lighter but it's still a 1.8 tonne car. It has more power but also more turbo lag as a consequence. The big difference is in the handling. The SS is sharper than the original since its chassis was properly tuned.
Only 3 laps the Bugatti's tires are gone.

Sandy Telfer no. The super sport did it in 1:16.8, if I remember correctly. I dread to think what the Chiron could do. I still don't think it'll beat the huayra's time of 1:13.8 but it'll be very fast.
Sandy Telfer , Chiron is out of the same mould, it's a Bahnstormer stormer, a little made up track like this is too small to get all its power down even for a few seconds, the Chiron might be lighter but that's all,no, a Car like a Hauracan would set a better time because it can put its power down more effeciently and is a smaller Car altogether.😎

It's not so much the weight as it is the chassis. The original Veyron wasn't well tuned for on the limit handling. The SuperSport fixed that and went 2 seconds faster. It has only 20% more power and still weighs as much as a V10 M5.
@@TheOtherNeutrino it fucking weighs as much as a ford F150, its over 1000lbs heavier than pretty much every hypercar in existence. I dont know if you knew this but WEIGHT AFFECTS HANDLING.

I hate when somebody thinks that a car is faster because of it’s max speed.
There are more important factors than max speed, like car weight, it’s acceleration, aerodynamics etc. That’s why Tesla Model S P100D eats cars like Lamborghini Aventador in drag races, even though it’s max speed is 250 kph.
@@AVINIDE Well thats a bad example ^^ the tesla is far heavier than the aventador but i see what you mean. Also electric cars only accelerate fast from standstill to 100mph. After 100 mph the aventador would eat it alive and there are cars that are A LOT faster than an aventador nowadays.
@@Stratocasterhead51 notice what I said. In drag races, referring to the American 1/8 or 1/4 of a mile races. I am aware that up to a certain point electric cars are fast, but still you're not gonna exceed 100-120 mph on a Top Gear track doing a lap, so my point about Tesla eating an Aventador is still valid.
@@AVINIDE im actually fairly certain a great many cars greatly exceed 100-120 mph on the top gear test track. Simple math would tell you that for a relatively good sports car time: 1min 20 secs, the average speed is 126 kph or 80mph ish. Considering there are slow speed corners the quick stuff must fly way above 140 mph. It is a power lap track after all.
Im not even sure an aventador would get beaten by a tesla in a 1/4 mile either. You have vids of aventadors winning and teslas winning. At best the Aventador finishes just behind. I dont know if you are trying to say that a tesla would best an aventador on the top gear test track, but i would be VERY surprised if that was the case. Tesla will corner far slower and since there is only one standing start, it would get gobbled up in the fast corners and even coming out of medium corners.
Honestly speaking the Veyron is an ugly car. Unique, but still ugly.
