    I did this last night in my ninja foodie with my instant pot loaf pan. I just did the 2 pound recipe and it came out great. My sister really loved it. I couldn’t get the meatloaf starter except on Amazon and they want you to buy a whole case so what I did is I just use ketchup and it worked pretty good.

    Everybody in my position always yells first! I don't see the point but I have never heard of Hunt's meatloaf starter maker stuff. If you don't have any eggs and don't have any bread crumbs then what we in the north always keep on our shelves is Bells meatloaf mix famous of Bell seasoning and Bell stuffing mix. Bell seasoning is a poultry seasoning but more special and we all think we don't have any so we buy one every year and one year we find that we have 12! I always keep Bells meatloaf mix on my shelf as it makes a really delicious deli style meatloaf! :-)

    There is a grip that holds metal cooking tins. I think it's something you can get at the hardware store. It a long handed spring clip with horizontal jaws. It was a nifty device for reaching in and clamping a solid edge to a cooking vessal. PS I ordered my IP today, you convinced the hubby that this is a useful cooker... yay!

    If you don't have any oats or bread crumbs a wonderful substitution is cream of wheat. It even works with store brand cream of wheat okay. It makes a very nice and Light Meatloaf just like it does for pancakes. When I was a girl my mother and I went to IHOP and they had cream of wheat pancakes I spent about a year working on the recipe and they are indeed delicious. Don't forget about cream of wheat or other hot cereals that you may have in the house when you want to make meatloaf and don't have any bread crumbs or oats. I'm not a great lover of putting oats in meatloaf anyway but I have. :-)

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  4 года назад +1

      It was a little different...my mother used pieces of loaf bread and I think I may go back to that...or at least add some...I've never tried cream of wheat but that sounds good...

    Jelly007, yours looks like a victory. Mine came out rather crispy on top before I added the topping. I’m pretty sure it’s because I used the wrong rack so it was setting up too high. Next time I will know better. I’ve got 11 more cans of Hunt’s Meatloaf Starter left- I had to buy a case from Amazon since Hunt’s doesn’t sell it in my area of Missouri in the grocery store. Hopefully I’ll learn from my mistakes. Thank you for the video recipes!! I used the Ninja Foodi 8 qt.

      I will say it was different but I thought as good...I did use 1 minute oats that I forgot to mention and that is a confusing point...there are 3 different kinds...a 1 minute...a 3 minute and a long cook oat...all made by Quaker...I was impressed and didn't think it was bad at all...but I did mean to mention that...thanks for watching!

    I'm kind of a purist when it comes to my meatloaf, but I do use Italian bread crumbs and a few eggs and just a tad of milk for a binder. also every time I cook a meatloaf it is stuffed with cheese, if you ever make it that way you will never want to make it any other way!

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  4 года назад +1

    I'm not sure how I feel about the soft cookware from instant-pot. Cooking in plastic in our house is frowned upon. However, putting a handled trivet underneath with aluminum foil extentions should make removing the pans ouch-free. (:

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  4 года назад +1

      I see your point about the soft sides and in the banana nut bread video (posted below) it did swell out but in this one with meatloaf it worked very well..it is silicon though not technically plastic...and something to remove it with is a very good idea...lol...thanks for watching!

    Is the meatloaf better cooked with the instant pot feature or the crisper feature? I would want to put the potatoes under the rack and cook them at the same time. Looks good and I have never heard of the Hunts sauce so that's new to me. Thank you

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  4 года назад

      I rarely pressure cook anything that can be air fried unless it is frozen... but there may be some things that would work well with that... such as chicken... but even then air frying works really well when done properly... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
