I recently picked this kit up at a show. Looking forward to this build. The Cutlass has had spot in my heart since I was young as they had one on display in my local regional park. We were able to climb all over it, including in the cockpit.
have you seen on youtube the diorama of the famous crash of a cutlass landing on a carrier and exploding ? it is a great piece of work. thank you for this episode, it was very enjoyable, & also a wonderful build. I have two in my stash and you inspired me to build one.
I always said that buying a Hobby Craft kit was like playing the lottery, some of their kits were pure dogs and some were real gems that rivaled the best in the business. I have a lot of their 1/72 scale kits because at the time they were the only company putting out Canadian subjects like the F2H-3 Banshee that flew off of the "Bonny" (Which by the way if you were to buy the Academy kit of the Banshee the Hobby Craft kit is what you get) I found their Sabre jets as good or better than anything else out there.
@@dansmodelworx I think that the Trackers and Seakings were on the Bonny till the bitter end, The Tracker was the first aircraft that I worked on when I became an Engine Tech. then the Aurora when the Tracker retired.
Hello Dan! I love your builds! Could you please see my comment on all 3 of the columbus express parts if you haven't seen them yet? Big thanks and have a good day!😊
In the past I've had this kit and the Lindberg offering of the "Gutless Cutlass" and I can say for certain the Hobbycraft kit is *100 times better* then Lindberg's joke of a kit! As far as I know, this is the only1/48 scale kit of the F7U-3 and it's long out-of-production now so enjoy it!
That's why they called them the Gutless Cutlass but what a fantastic looking plane.
Didn't know this jet was such a Widow Maker. It's a cool, futuristic looking design. Have fun on the build.

I think it was malfunctions more than handling. So long as everything kept working you were ok.

Very cool. I didn't know any had been preserved.
@Dansmodelworx It's gone now. This was back in the 60's-70s. I heard that they buried it on the grounds.
The Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida has one on display ! It is indoors and has been beautifully restored !!👍👍
Way better fit than I imagined! 👍
Yes I am happy so far.
Holy Nineties Danman, I see you also still have a bottle of Solvaset!
Agree, a decent kit, I got two to do one of each scheme. Thanks for posting.
So far the solvaset still works.

No, I will have to look for it.
Looks like a decent kit.
I think those options were between a conformal fuel tank verses 2 drop tanks.
Possibly, the other option could be a gun pack, but I've never heard of gun armament for this plane.

My father served on the Bonaventure. I think the Banshees were gone by then.
