Very solid and detailed vid that actually tells us something about the rifle instead of just rambling on while they shoot it a few times. You did the best job of ANY I've seen on RUclips so thanks!
I bought one right before the 2018 deer season started a savage 6.5 creedmoor n took two deer at 100 yards or more on one of them , paid 325 including taxes n came with a scope , worked perfect,,, two shots two kills ,,,,
I just bought the same rifle this Saturday right after black Friday in a good deal I love savage this would be my second rifle Can't wait to go and shoot it
I bought this exact same rifle the trigger was stiff at 6.7 lbs so i bought a Savage trigger spring kit from MCarbo and its now just over 2 lb trigger now plus i put a Burris Scope on my Axis and ditched the Weaver it made it go from a good gun to a GREAT gun
I got a Caribu last fall in northern Quebec with a Savage Axis in .270 that I bought just for the trip. I bought it on sale the fall of 2016 or spring of 2017 for $269 before tax
I have the 270 axis bought it back in 2011 I think along with a 25/06.both guns are identical to each other,my guns dont have the accutrigger on them.i did do a trigger job on them and now they shoot just as good and any other high priced gun on the market made today.i did buy me a savsge ba 10 stealth 6.5 creedmoor this past spring in left-hand same as my other 2 savage rifles, now my 6.5 creedmoor long range rifle has a accutrigger on it now and do dearly love it.i about 3 months from now or when I get my income tax check back I'm going to order me the axis 6.5 creedmoor savsge rifle and probably the 7mm08 model to,and and do another trigger job on them to.but from savage's gun magazine the new savsge axis's now have a different stock than what my 2011 models do,so I hope you are happy with your axis 6.5 rifle and beleave me set it at 100 yards and use 140 grain soft point ammo and it will shoot level out to 225 yards off your 100 yard crosshair.ok have fun and good luck with your 6.5!!!!!
I have a Savage 110 from years back in .308. My experience with it over the years has been outstanding. No issues. Quite accurate. Plain looking but with a nice Walnut stock. OKish trigger, not amazing, nor terrible. But very accurate. My shooting has gotten better over the years and I am capable of getting sub MOA groups with the gun from 1991-2. Outstanding for what I paid. The only complaint I have is the polymer cheap stock on the new ones. I’d prefer a wood option weight notwithstanding for rigidity or just a better polymer stock. You shouldn’t have to change out a stock or a scope on a new rifle. Ditch the scope or provide a decent option and just put a decent stock on the rifle. I think having to replace something on a new product is lame. I’d prefer to just scope it myself. But hunters who know the deal know that Savages deliver in the field for a high value option. Mine sure has. I’m not selling it.
I bought a used AXIS II last year that was missing the scope and appeared to have been abused a bit, I cleaned it up, oiled it, etc and after some work with it, different ammos. 6.5 Creedmoor, I've gotten it to shooting 1 1/2in groups at 100 yards.( still room for improvement on my part) I really enjoy shooting it. ( moderate recoil) Though i just wished I could get an extra mag for it.
Actually to slide the bolt into the receiver, all you have to do is safety off and squeeze the trigger. It's bolt release and trigger squeeze to remove the bolt.
I snagged one of these at Walmart. Clearance. $199. 243Win. Two catches. The first catch is that it is a youth model. No big deal, I'm not real big so it fits me, particularly when I'm wearing warm, deer season clothes. The second is that it was in Muddy Girl. Muddy Girl is that hot pink camo garbage. Fortunately I have a can of OD Green Alumahyde II I keep around for emergencies such as this. While I had the stock off for painting, I shimmed the trigger pivot pin and installed a lighter trigger return spring which significantly improved the trigger to "as good" as the stock Tikka T3 trigger. With handloads I can keep it at a consistent subMOA. Score.
What a score! I love my axis II with their adjustable trigger (spend 250 out the door). The only thing I dislike is the cheap plastic stock. (mine is the old style, not the one in the vid.) I bought an aftermarket stock from boyds but I'm not happy with their magazine catch solution for the plastic lip on the savage mags. I'm probably going to contact savage and see if I can get one of their new hardwood stocks for the axis. Also wondering if the fluted bolt from the model 11 lightweight hunter would fit the axis as I am a sucker for anything fluted LOL.
Very nice , my buddy just got the same deal, at (believe it or not) Dicks, for 265+tax, I had a .75" group@100yrd today with 140gr cor-lock I was impressed
The removable portion of the stock is to customize fit for the shooter. I bought this rifle for my son as his first rifle and wanted to remove the extra portion to shorten the stock. Just as the video references it doesn't want to fit very well. I could not get it to tighten up evenly on each end. We still need to go shoot the rifle and check out its performance.
Oldguydiy did a video comparing the old and new axis stocks might want to check it out but he said he called savage and that part between the stock and pad is not ment to be removed check out the video very informative
Just picked up a .308 that RK had on sale for a beater/farm gun in Dec 20... 1st thing i did was locktite and level the scope and mounts.. 2nd thing done was to install an MCarbo trigger spring kit.. Major difference in take up, break and over travel, clean and crisp at 2.5 lbs and the "wall" is right there, and it cuts side slop down to an 1/8.. jus sayin', $20 upgrade (and no, i have no vested interest in the company, it just works), so good in fact ill prolly replace the weaver with a scope that costs more than the rifle, and do a bolt lift... lol.. A real good shooter for sure, even right out the box... Thanks K, good vid.. :) "there goes the budget"...
I have a Savage model 110 in 7mm Rem Mag. The trigger is very good and the rifle is accurate. My only complaint is the removal of the bolt is awkward and requires two hands. I had a model 110 manufactured in 2003 that was much easier to remove the bolt. The trigger on the older Savage was not adjustable and was marginal at best.
That is a great tax rate in your county! I love the rifle I just picked up the same one at my local academy! Hoping it shoots well I’m going to give it a shot this weekend, and very exited !!
just got mine axis2 xp .270 + bushnel duskDawn optics the rings are like the ones found in cheaper multipump airguns hehe. shot it today its hitting 1 moa with winchesters

@@moneimanny375 Nebraska the Walmart I bought it at was getting ready to remodel so they sold a bunch of guns cheap. I know someone who bought the 30/06 for 80.00 with a scope. Now they have the 6.5 savage with the accu trigger and scope for 374.00 I believe.
Why would anybody buy a Savage Axis when the Axis II is available? There is very little difference in cost and the Accutrigger is 100 times better. I bought an Axis II in stainless steel (no scope) from Walmart for $296 and Savage had a $50 rebate on it. I put on an excellent 6-24x50 illuminated Chinese scope and it shoots groups of 4 rounds 5/8" from a rest, and one round a flyer at 1.5". My guess is the cheap Savage stock affects the accuracy after the barrel heats up from the first 4 shots.
Good review but I disagree with if you want a better trigger to buy a expensive rifle, why not just spend the extra hundred dollars and get the better trigger with the axis ii
I bought this rifle last year and it’s back at Savage for the 3rd time cause every time I chamber a round after a shot I’m wrestling with the bolt-they are trying to tell me it’s the Sellier Bellot ammo. Can anybody shed their input ???
I am having some problems with my rifle, I will have to shoot it more. To give you an answer on this problem I am going to try to get out in the next few days and get some shooting done, stay tuned to my channel
I had a problem with my Savage Axis 7mm08 out of the box and thought it had something to do with the case's of the ammo. After taking it apart and cleaning I found that it was the bolt causing my problems. That little slide grabber was damaged and it wanted to just jam the rounds in the rifling. I contacted Savage and they sent me a new grabber, ball, and spring. I made sure it was lubed and clean. Problem solved!
Rob T I will NEVER purchase another gun from Savage.Their products are made like garbage and the gunsmith dept is awful. How do they send a customer back a gun with paperwork that says:Replaced Bolt and small parts, checked head spacing and all is good to go ‘THREE ‘diff times.Did they even test fire this gun before sending it back? They offered to give me another rifle a category higher than what I have.I told them I’m done with them and wouldn’t accept their top of line rifle and want my money back. The shop stood behind my decision because I’m a good customer who bought all my firearms and equipment from them last 2 years and they gave me a full refund. They were also disappointed with Savage and their Reps and will deal with the return of their garbage.
Put a old Bushnell 3--9x40 and rings I had - will bring the scope that came with it to see how it functions at the range if I like the scope then I will install the factory scope rings on the rifle

370 is the best price I can find them for today
It seems there are no sales like ppl saying in past bc they aren't as cheap from 2 yrs ago now, just looked at some past day or so
How much recoil do these have looking for 12 year old?
