You pushed me over the fence on buying a UPR. I had settled on TacA1 but was never comfortable with that limited system. Your videos are very professional and enjoyable to watch. Nice job.
Thanks for the review and damn fine shooting! I've owned a CTR .308 for a couple years now and it has been amazing! This boxing day I just got a sweet deal on a new UPR chambered in .308 as well! Told my wife the kids claimed my CTR so I had to pick up another one! 😊
I got a UPR .308 around Christmastime and it's perhaps the finest firearm I have ever had. Amazing. Perfection. The quality is ridiculously more than the price.
@@MrDausen Hey brother! I hope you love yours as much as I love mine ... To be 101% honest- when I'm just out in my yard, busting caps & having a good time (without serious thought to accuracy & performance...) - I have shot plenty of standard-ass NATO/ 147gr FMJs , and of course, some companies are better than other... our particular rifles have a 1:11" twist, so they like a little heavier bullets - but at least for ME, (particularly with .308 or larger-caliber rounds) - when you go up in bullet weight, you go up in recoil. I ain't the biggest dude in the world -so it's tough, I know the rifle likes 150-180gr range, I have to manage my own capabilities etc... I've always been a big Federal guy, I've always liked their products ranging from .22LRs for fun to 12ga shotguns to precision rifles etc. The sweet-spot for my Tikka seems to be 168gr. But to be honest it always shoots extremely-well, just some are better than others ... These days, as expensive as ammo is (and as crazy as the world we live in is...) - I just buy what's on sale and generally shoot the cheapest stuff for fun, save the good stuff for when I'm really trying to show off or if&when shit gets hectic. Hope you love yours as much as I love mine, thanks brother!💙💯🏴☠
@@Ser_Arthur_Dayneawesome! Thanks for the reply! I’m up in Canada and my CTR 20” 1:11 twist does great with the cheap Norma whitetail 180gr, it can do 3 shot cloverleafs at 100m off the bench, I’m hoping this upr can do the same with that cheap Norma ammo I can get at my local bass pro. Happy shooting my friend!!!!
Your comments on the upr were very helpful. I have a t3x and wanted an upgrade that I could use for both stalking and prone hunting. UPR sounds like a good fit.
Excellent review on both and great shooting also. I'm looking at a Tikka TX3 lite in 6.5 Creedmoor, I'm sure the CTR & UPR are more accurate shooters but they don't have either of those models near me. Thanks again nice job
Anything that has the word TIKKA stamped on it will be dead nuts. My dad has the tac a1 and cheapest one they make and they are crazy accurate. Loves them both.
I own both rifles. Although I prefer the UPR stock, the CTR stock is completely serviceable. There is a bolster in front of the recoil lug that is molded into the stock. So even thought it’s not free floated all the way to the action, the bolster acts similar to when someone beds the barrel in front of the recoil lug. It makes consistent contact and stiffens the harmonics.
I noticed the ctr had the stainless barrel and the upr didn't. I wonder if that had anything to do with the slightly tighter group. Either way I'm sold. Also this channel deserves more views. Awesome review. Thanks for the solid content.
Have the 308 varmint in a grs stock. Lovely handling and great to shoot. Also have the TAC A1 in 6.5 CM. After shooting in with home loads it shot a 0.18 inch group at 100 yds, the best I’ve ever shot with a factory rifle. Also managed a 10 shot 4 inch group at 660 yds, not bench-rest standards but astounding for a factory rifle👍.
What bullet and load did you use in the A1? Those are dang good groups. I'm not an amazing shooter and still managed a 3.5 inch group at 460 with the factory 140 Hornady ELDs.
Fantastic job. And your audio has improved drastically. I wonder if SAKO will expand the 85 line with similar options. I guess the Carbon Wolf is somewhat alike. I really wish they go with Pic rails from the factory like on Tikkas and the A7.

Very good video, very precise rifle. I'm hesitating between this rifle, the Tikka T3X UPR and the Ruger RPR... What would you recommend to me based on your experience?
I find it amusing that at the lower price points (Sub - $2500) you have to pick your poison: - Want an epic barrel for cheap...buy the Savage 110 Ultralight with the proof carbon (crap stock and mediocre receiver) - Want the epic receiver for cheap...Buy any of the Tikka T3X variants (crappy stocks and mediocre barrel) - Want the epic barrel and really nice stock for cheap...Buy the Bergara B14 squared crest (better than average receiver) - Want the epic trigger and stock for cheap...Buy the Springfield Waypoint 2020 (better than average receiver and barrel) - Want a ton of caliber options...Buy the Browning X-bolt hells canyon variants (subpar trigger, mediocre receiver) Want all 3? Sako, Bergara premier line, Fierce's nicer stuff, or a custom rifle. End of the day...just pick what's important to you and don't look back :) You really cannot choose wrong!
I have a new CTR in 6,5CMR, it shoots 1,5" - 2,5" groups. The stock is touching the barrel at the first 2" of the barrel. Maybe have to ask the company I bought it from.
What ammo are you using? My CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor would average < 0.5 MOA for 5-shot groups with Hornady 140 grain ELD Match, 147 grain ELD Match, and 143 grain Precision Hunter.
My T3x CTR is on the way. Haven't actually held one in my hand, so I'm curious if the cheek riser on the stock is something they add on, or if it's molded as part of the stock. Thanks!
Check out the Brownells MPO - Match Precision Optic - I have the 5-25×56mm but they also make a 3-18×50mm ... they're made in Japan at the finest Japanese optic factory and sold directly to Brownells. They're $2000-2500 scopes for 1000. Amazing. I love mine.
This video needs more views. Probably the best overview I’ve seen and some excellent shooting too! Nicely done

You could never go wrong with Sako/Tikka rifles, they perform and cycle beautifully .
Good shooting that and a beautiful pair of rifles. I've got a UPR coming up in my future for PRS shooting.

Man, You can shoot! Unbelievable.
Excellent video. I was wondering if the adjustable cheek riser was necessary but clearly you can get tight shots without one. I'm going for the CTR.

I like the tikka UPR but the stock is to light so I went with the Bergara B14 HMR instead still sub moa rifle
Nice scope rings on the CTR ;D
It is over a lb heavier than their normal lite. But I’m interested. Wonder if they will make an 18” version.

As an owner of few tikka rifles i would like to know when will the 6.5 prc and 300 prc be available in the new Tikka models.
Company website says 6.5 PRC is available in several models already, 300 PRC in none yet
Thanks for the great video. How do you compare the Tac A1 to these of your doing target shooting? Thanks

Nice
When they offer 26” barrels, and magnum calibers (7mm Remington and 300 RUM,) I’ll be interested.
somebody is compensating for something 🤣
I cant remember which rifle but I remember seeing a 7mm offered in one of them. Take another look.
Now if I could only find a 6.5 creed CTR anywhere in stock in SA...

What bi pod mount?
There are 5 Round mags for the CTR/ UPR?
Only 1 maybe 2 rifles that can hang with the UPR and one's a Tikka and the other is a Sako!

@@Ser_Arthur_Dayne that's ridiculous

free floating barrel
Can you kill moose with the 6.5
For moose hunting I would opt for the 308w version, awesome gun also.
6.5 creed more is a wimp.300 prc is king!
Can that use in combat
The tikka tac a1 has a 2 stage trigger, the ctr has a single stage! So not quite the same!
How many stage trigger for the UPR?
Upr is a single stage
Tikka stainless barrels are mostly a hair better.
